Food is so good. Pad see ew is one of my favorites. The lady is so sweet she gave me a huge portion. I gave her the $6 change as her tip and she gave me a bowl of spring roll and fried dumplings, she insisted. Stopped by here and ordered a red curry. I was the only active order but the lady had just taken out a few cars' orders. I paid the $14 and told her my car identification. I waited in my car about 15 minutes while my children bounced around impatiently. When I went back up and asked how much longer it would be, she went over and started spooning green curry. I asked if she had forgotten my order and she replied "no." But then she didn't remember what I had ordered and hadn't even prepared anything for me. There had never been any red curry available she told me. I asked for my money back and instead just found something around my house. Really like eating here each time we are come in to Mountain Home, the food is great, the portions are large, and the proprietor and her husband are very nice people. Take note, the trailer is moved to 1500 American Legion Street just east of the backside of the Maverick gas station, and the new number is 208-514-9934. The nice lady who owns it asked me submit that for her as neither her or her husband are techie. This is the place we went to when we could not make up our mind on what to eat. My family really enjoys the spring rolls and sweet and sour chicken. I have tried most of the other items on the menu and enjoyed them all. Never a complaint. The first rule of Chaiyo Thai is that cash is king, and the only form of payment they accept. Secondly...the portions are huge. We typically order three "plates" and an order of spring rolls for a family of four (two teenage boys). Thirdly, calling in can get a little confusing. I don't know why people in Mountain Home think the food here is so awesome. This isn't real Thai food. I would say the food here is a fusion with Korean and Chinese. The portions are big, but the price is about 10 bucks a plate. I've had the chicken/beef bulgogi, fried rice, and the food was good and sufficient enough to satisfy my hunger. It's not too difficult to mess up stir-fry cooking, so they compensate any other missing flavors by dumping soy sauce and MSG all over the food, which makes the food SUPER salty...you'll be drinking lots of water after this meal. I'd rather cook at home. If you're driving through Mountain Home, this is a good meal for your road trip. Chaiyo Thai would be a better fast-food alternative than Jack-in the box, Wendys, McDonalds, or Arby's in the Mtn Home pit stop. read more

The food from here freaking feeds a family of 4. That's probably why you can typically find yourself spending more than 10 bucks. I had the pad thai and a thai iced tea, which were both pretty good. The fact that they're open relatively late is pretty awesome too, as we didn't get out of work until around 9pm. I had eaten here prior to a month long vacation in Thailand and I can tell you with confidence, this is authentic Thai food made with love and chock-full of flavor. We were greeted by a patient lady who was eager to help us order whatever we wanted. Thai iced teas were consumed while we waited briefly for our food to be ready. Numerous vehicles pulled up or pulled away over the course of our time here. The nice lady who helped us would bring food out to the folks waiting in their cars as it became ready. No one seemed impatient or like they had been waiting a long time. We ate in the parking lot and were even brought a few chairs, and bottles of water as we ate from the tailgate of our pickup truck. Serving sizes were very generous. Our bellies were full and we all felt satisfied after the meal. Everyone in our group ordered something different and each meal looked and tasted great. Mountain Home, Idaho--not necessarily where one would expect to find authentic and delicious Thai food. Huge portions! Man, it's enough for three days of lunch and I usually eat a decent amount. Maybe it's just the kind of food it is that gets to me but it is heavy. I love love love their egg rolls (spring rolls but fried?) greasy and very yummy. Got the curry and it tasted like chicken coconut soup I've had at other thai restaurants. Not bad, just different and kind of odd. Not really what I expect from a Thai food place, I guess I've been spoiled in the past. Their spring rolls are great. I've had the chicken fried rice, the sweet and sour chicken, and the pad Thai noodles. They were all pretty average tasting. I would say my biggest issue is that the portions are HUGE. If you eat normal portions you would have enough of your plate leftover to probably feed 1 or 2 more people. I would want to eat here more often if they offered smaller portions so me and my husband could actually order what we want and not have huge amounts of leftovers that don't heat up very well. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised to find essentially, a food truck in this small town with such good Thai food. The portions, as others have noted, were very generous. I decided to order several entrees so there would be something that both of us would like. The Hot and Sour soup was good, flavorful, and similar to soups we have experienced in several other states. However, while not "Thai hot", it was spicier than the normal "American Hot" and just a tad too salty. A little too spicy for my wife but very tolerable for me. It did cause the back of my neck, my eyebrows, and my beard to sweat though. My wife's litmus test for Thai restaurants is Pad Thai. She was not disappointed. It was not too sweet, had layers of good Thai flavor, and again, very generous portion. We ordered the Pad Krapao. It was spicy, but not overwhelming, and had the pronounced basil flavor that I really enjoy. But again, a tad salty. We also ordered the entree called "Spicy Thai Style". It also had good flavor and wasn't too overwhelmingly spicy either. The To-Go containers were the best I've ever seen. The plates were sturdy and microwaveable and the rectangular soup container had a flip lock gasketed lid. We cleaned them up and will reuse them. There were some other deltas. They only accept cash so be prepared for that. The area in the parking lot around the truck/trailer had a good deal of clutter. Some sinks and other restaurant equipment as well as some trash. It took about 45 minutes to receive our food, so be prepared for some prep time wait. The prices on their website are no longer accurate. Several of their dishes now cost over 50% more if you want "premium" proteins like beef or shrimp instead of chicken or pork. All in all, while definitely not perfect, I will have no problem going back again now armed with information. read more

I've got to say this is the best Chinese/Thai in town. I don't get anything other than the sweet and sour chicken, and fried rice, but it's the same every time. The owner used to make a different sweet and sour sauce a couple years ago which we LOVED but she changed it to a thicker sauce and it took a while to get used to but as long as I get the sauce on the side I enjoy it. There's no other place that compares to this in town, even though it does look sketchy. I know many people that get different items and enjoy it as well!
