Highly recommended! Great shop! Came up to Snow Summit for the weekend as usual. But busted a spoke on some harsh landings. The Snow Summit shop couldn't do nothing unfortunately, but down the street from the Bike Park is Chains Required Bike Shop! Instantly after arriving 2-3 guys acknowledged my visit, told them that I busted a spoke and needed the service. They got me going, wrote up a repair order and boom! I'm so happy to have met these guys, all stand up doods, hard workers and great vibes.. They replaced my spoke, retaped my wheel, resealed and refreshed the whole thing and even thought they had at least 5-7 bikes being serviced, the mechanics got my rig back in 2-3 hours and I'll be back at the Bike Park tomorrow! Great local shop for bike parts, gear, and service. I give credit to the staff who was more than happy to talk bike with my 11-year-old son; so used to people being dismissive of the young passion. Also nice to see youth sizes in clothing, protection, and other gear. They are better stocked than many "down the hill" bike shops. Unfortunately (for me) I had to hit them up mid-day on a Saturday after my chain wrapped itself around a crank (!) during a ride at Summit. They were happy to have a look and the mechanic had me back out the door with a new chain in about 15 minutes. Would gladly go back for gear or service. read more

My favorite bike shop in Big Bear easily. The team is friendly, knowledgeable, and even worked on my road bike. They got me bike back very quickly. I have bought shoes, energy gels, random parts from them. I like the selection, the value has been consistent since 2012. I would highly recommend them to friends or any mountain biker. Came to rent the comfort bikes for a couple hours and had such a great experience with this bike shop. Had a few tumbles on our ride (a hard fall and a stolen bag on the trail). They were super accommodating and had plenty of bikes to rent for the day since we just walked in. When we came to return the bikes we told them about the tumble and the stolen bikes. They gave us bandaids and very helpful advice on how to deal with the personal matter. Not only are they a great shop with great rental services but best customer service. BEWARE!!! Came in today for a $5 brake cable ( which I had taken off already) Before I payed for it The guy says "hey boss bring it around back and I will put it on for you! We thought cool that is nice! He put it on 5 minutes he was done. I go inside and he charged me $30 first off !... "hey boss bring it in the back and I will put it on for you" to me sounds like a nice owner ! hmmm ! I guess not! I guess scamming me to think you're a nice owner then over charging $25 for the 5 minute install ( which I would have no problem paying $5 or $10 bucks but what a gouge !!! And being sneaky to get it!! If this is how you run your store that says a lot !! Good luck dude !! read more

Avoid this shop. I came in before closing as I was riding with my kids and my back disc brake wasn't working so felt unsafe. They said they didn't have time to even look at it. I opened up their website and they closed in 36 minutes. I re-asked them to take a look and the guy briefly looked at it and said the brake pads were completely worn through and needed a full replacement and they didn't have time for it and sent me down the street to Goldsmiths. I called and they could look at it there. Went to the other shop. It was a 3 minute fix to bleed the brakes and brake pads were fine and it worked beautifully after. Don't waste your time here. They don't care about helping a mother riding with her kids who felt unsafe to even take a real look and do a quick fix instead of lying about a full replacement. Go to Goldsmiths as they were honest, quick, and friendly. Not here. read more

Don't look any further, this place is top notch! We had our cabin at the end of the road and saw this bike shop, decided to pop in an inquire about a bike rental for a person in our group. She said the bike was so easy to use, she was happy with it. Jordan helped us out with sizing the bike up for her and he was amazing! They had loads of different bikes , even electrical bike rentals. The mountain bike we rented was very easy to handle. It's was $11 per hour or $30 for a half day rental. Jordan explained the rules and the different gears and features of the bike. Very smooth process. Hard working guy , tipped him $10 just for the hassle free process. They provide us with a map and helped us out by asking what types of trails we were looking for and the two we tried out were amazing. The return process was simple too. Excellent service! read more

My family vacationed at Big Bear Lake, CA this week and I wanted to ride an E-bike. I called several bike shops in Big Bear Lake and found "Chains Required" the friendliest and easiest to deal with. When I arrived, they explained all about the E-bike and fees (also a military discount). Shane, Dillian, Aaron and other staff were OUTSTANDING!
