Menifee Bicycles is exactly that kind of shop. The entire staff is incredible. They know the best places to ride, they're friendly, and they're genuinely helpful with any question you bring in. They also have an awesome inventory. Tons of cruisers (lots of SE options), brands like Cult and FBC, and a big selection of Trek, Giant, and more. I contacted them today because the Trek website showed a perfect option for my daughter in stock. I called and spoke with Samantha, who confirmed they had it -- it just wasn't built yet. Without hesitation, she offered to have it assembled right away so my daughter could come in and test ride it with no pressure or obligation. We went to the shop, she tried the bike, and she couldn't be happier. The whole experience showed exactly why local shops matter. You can feel the pride and care they put into everything. And as someone who started racing BMX in the late 80s, the highlight of my visit might have been spotting a mint Haro Group 1 RS2 sitting on the floor. Original number plate, grips, everything. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because after a long drive there, I asked if there was a customer restroom. The gentleman said, "You aren't going to sue me are you?" which I don't feel is relevant. Maybe they have been sued before? I don't know what that was about. I told him no worries, I don't need to use the restroom and he didn't say anything after that. The bike is great and was just what we were looking for. It was a great purchase.

One of the best examples of that was when I was struggling to teach my son how to ride a bike. I was frustrated and running out of ideas, but Ian stepped in with advice and encouragement that made all the difference it took less than 30 mins in the Dons parking lot for him to get the hang of it. Once my son learned, he took off--and now he regularly rides 15-20 mile bike rides with me. That's a memory I'll always be grateful for. Scott is also fantastic and has always been a pleasure to work with. The entire staff creates an environment that is welcoming, encouraging, and completely pressure-free. They genuinely want to help you find what works best for you. Getting my bike serviced here has always been easy. Even during busy periods when service turnaround times were over two weeks, they provided me with a loaner bike so I could keep riding. That level of customer service is hard to find these days. Every time I walk through the door, I feel like I'm at home. Even though I no longer live in the same city, I still make the drive because the service, expertise, and people are worth it. I am 6 bikes in with them from road, hybrids, and mountain bikes and I don't plan on switching up. The way I see it, you don't fix what's not broken. When I have wanted to repair or do maintenance in the past, it would involve a 60+ minute round trip drive to Riverside or Redlands to drop off the bike, then repeat to pick it up. Discovering and visiting 951 Bikes was both promising and a blessing. My end of day visit to the shop was to get some cleats for some new shoes. The price was reasonable, not Amazon low, but I prefer to pay a few more to support a local shop. The store was stocked with a lot of accessories in front and parts behind the counter. I had to wait to get help, there were two guys working on bikes in the back and another helping customers with checkout. Everyone I met was friendly, and I left hopeful that I found a place to satisfy my local bike mechanic needs.
