We stumbled upon close to Honey Pot orchards. Seems like a small family business, and everyone inside was very nice and kind. There are a ton of choices, and the food was exactly as I expected dinner food to be: not 5 star, but stereotypically comforting. It took a really long time for food to come out, though, (~30 mins, which is super long for a diner) which would have been ok except that it wasn't super busy and the portions were slightly small. I mean, it's breakfast. It's a small shop, one in the middle of a small shopping area. I don't mind these types of eateries, sometimes they can be surprisingly good locations. This one is not. Ordered French toast, girlfriend got a waffle with strawberries and real maple syrup as an upcharge. Also got a grilled muffin and a side of bacon. Feench toast was frozen, pre-packaged and warmed in a toaster. Waffle had 1 strawberry sliced thin and put on top with a dollop of spray whipped cream. Bacon was underdone, and the muffin was grilled but cold and dense on the non-grilled sides. Also only got syrup for the waffle, not for the French toast. I don't think it's worth the price I paid. The only saving graces is the servers are polite and the food is cheap. It's not good, don't expect good food, expect food. If you go in with that mindset, you won't be disappointed. read more

This is an old school diner! Not a 50s or 60s styled place, but a booth and bar, coffee and eggs, family run place. Food is great, prepared perfectly by genuinely kind people. I saw this little place on my way to work, so I decided to give it a shot. I like little cafes. My first impression was disappointing, because I could smell fish when I walked in the door. It wasn't pungent, but it caught my attention. The layout of the place is nice, though. It's very casual with tables and a counter with stools. The smell of fish was not obvious after we sat down. The service was really good. The lady was sweet and attentive. She even offered to get us breakfast food if we wanted, even though the menu for breakfast stops at 2:30pm. Though I was tempted, I went with the Buffalo Burger. It was good. I'm not sure how it was "buffalo" unless it was actually buffalo. I've had buffalo burgers before, and this one tasted like cow. Regardless, it was good enough. I think they missed the blue cheese now that I think about it. The sweet potato fries are real good. I brought the rentals who are local. They got the chicken triple decker and haddock. They really liked them both. I would stop by again. I'd consider hitting it for breakfast as long as the fish smell is not a part of the daily ambience. read more

Firstly, the food came out hot and was well prepared. I thoroughly enjoyed everything I ordered. I thought the waitress was pleasant and attentive, also the chef was glad to serve his good food to us. The cafe echoed a traditional diner atmosphere, with comfortable booths and clean tables to sit and eat. You know how there are places you really want to like, but it just doesn't do it? For whatever reason, this was a place I really didn't want to like. The place I wanted to try, across the street, was Emma's Cafe (look for my review there next time). Emma's was closed for vacation or something. So, I went to this place a few hundred yards away. It was kind of plain, and not very neat. A lot of diners that is ok, or even quaint. Not this one. It just looked a bit dingy. I immeadietly got a negative impression, and this place was going to get a negative review. But........ -The coffee was good! Green mountain coffee. -The servers were friendly without seeming like they had to be. -The menu wasn't bad at all. -The food.... I usually just get mainstays when I first try a place. Eggs, home fries, bacon, ham, or sausage, etc... For whatever reason, I ordered a Monte Cristo. For those not in the know, that's usually a ham (and sometimes turkey) sandwich with cheese (often swiss or gruyere, never American). Either the bread or the whole sandwich is dipped in egg and cooked like french toast. This savory is often served with a sweet. Syrup, powdered sugar, jam.... This one was simple ham and american(!!!) Cheese. I sighed heavily when I got it. But it was really good. I will definitely go back and try other stuff. Wasn't great. I love diner breakfast and this was lame. The hash was out of a can and the poached eggs were over cooked. The wait was long. The only upside is it seems as though it's a "family and friends" type of place because if you knew the owner and staff by their first names and they knew you, you'd get anything by just a hand wave. A quaint diner, but incredibly slow. We sat ourselves to an available booth. It was not busy with a few (about 8-10) people, the two waitresses were standing behind the counter doing nothing but chatting with each other and it took about 5 minutes for the teenage waitress to give a menus and ask if we wanted coffee. I got coffee and my partner got hot tea. We gave our order (I got eggs, sausage and pancakes and my partner got corned beef hash omelette). It took a while for the waitress to write down the order as she did so in longhand. Obviously not taught how to write quickly or use shorthand or abbreviations. While waiting I asked for a coffee refill. The waitress went on to do other things and forgot. I had to ask again. While we waited we couldn't help but notice the two teenaged waitresses basically stood around and did nothing. When they did anything there was as no sense of urgency or hustle at all. About 30 to 45 minutes after we place our order my pancakes arrived. A couple minutes later my partner's omelette arrived. Then, a few minutes after that my eggs/sausage arrived. My partner's tea had gotten cold. My eggs, sausage and pancakes were okay. But, my partner's omelette was bland and no taste in the corned beef hash. The coffee was okay. There was about a 20% upcharge due to Covid (which was posted on a handwritten notice on the wall). So, $40 and 90 minutes later we left. Not horrible, but not good either. You could tell the wait staff wanted to be anywhere but there and the kitchen placed a higher priority to DoorDash and To Go orders than those inside the diner. Wish I read the reviews before suggesting a half way spot to meet a friend. Skip this place. Ordered breakfast - took the girl 3 times to get our order straight and it was right off the menu! Plates came one at a time - omelet looked thin and lifeless - and it was. English muffin was soggy and hash browns were def frozen - about 8-10 on the plate. Friends weren't impressed either. Girl cleared 2 of the plates and left other sitting there? Brought me check with my receipt and no pen? Pass on this place mostly because the food is not good. read more

I could never go to this place again! I went with my mom and she said " we've been here before and you hated it" I couldn't remember so I said lets try it again. We ordered at 10:45 am I ordered 2 eggs scrambled ham home fries & toast my mom ordered home fries and toast, 25 minutes later at 11:10 they brought my mom just the home fries after 11:50 I said screw this let's go! There were 6 customers there and after over an hours I still hadn't got my food or my moms toast! We paid for the drinks and her home fries, and told them it's taking way to long, tHe owner was nasty and said this ain't fast food, I said okay but we all know hame and eggs and nasty deep fried home fries takes no more than 5 minutes start to finish! The food itself, when it arrives, is great. I have never ordered anything there that I didn't enjoy. To some of the one and two star reviews complaining about the food, this really is a classic diner. No, the food is not gourmet, but if that's what you were expecting when you walked through the door, you were setting yourself up for disappointment - nothing about this place says that it will ever qualify for a Michelin star. This is simple, unpretentious, unassuming food, and for what it is, there's not a thing wrong with it. The real trouble is the service - that's why the three stars. Most of their menu items aren't complex and shouldn't take a rocket scientist to engineer, but I find that I routinely wait close to half an hour for my food, even when there's only one or two other customers (and usually when they already have their food as I'm walking through the door). The waitress is always good about keeping my coffee full, but the kitchen moves at a glacial pace that must be seen to be believed. Even so, I keep going back - I enjoy the food (when it does arrive) that much. And I bring a book. read more

My family and I have been getting breakfast at Stow Cafe pretty much since they opened. I go with blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon, my kids get chocolate chip pancakes and waffles with fresh fruit and my wife goes either with a breakfast sandwich or the crunchy French toast. The pancakes are fluffy, the bacon is crispy and the French toast is well flavored and cooked. The owners and staff are very friendly and personable, always saying hi when we see them outside of the restaurant. It's nothing fancy, just solid and consistent with great service. read more

Walking into the place, we noticed it was a very quaint little mom & pop shop of about 12 tables & 8 seats at the counter. Very nice wait staff, we got seated right away altho a little slow getting our order. The food, however, was disappointing. The "hash brown" was a shaped puck like you get at the grocery store & drop in a toaster, one of the "over easy" eggs was solid, our tomato and "cheese" omelet had barely any cheese. We paid extra for the hash brown & a side of "melon" instead of home fries. It was a spoonful of honeydew melon only. There were 5 blueberries on one piece of French toast & 6 on the other but they were fresh blueberries instead of a compote. The toast was barely buttered so we did it ourselves, and for some reason, the light above us went out for a bit then came back on. read more

I'm actually surprised there are so many mediocre reviews for the Stow Cafe. My husband and I live down the street and have breakfast here often and have never had a bad meal. The food is definitely diner style, but it's not greasy like a lot of diners. The coffee is excellent and the woman who runs the place is super sweet. read more

A guy with a head cold is stuffed in the wee little table behind me and is sniffing up his breakfast. The food looks decent, the waitresses are polite, but there's only one guy in the kitchen who also appears to be handling phone orders. Most of the people here seem pretty happy and to not mind waiting. However the person sitting atop me to my right just returned the hash and rolled his eyes at his table guest. If you have a morning to KILL and the place just across the street named Emma's is too crowded then come on in to the Stow Cafe. I'll still be here. Waiting. read more

I ordered Eggs Benedict. They were over cooked and the tiniest portion of Hollandaise sauce. It wasn't very busy, but unlike other reviews, I didn't feel it took especially long. What I did find a turnoff though, was the waitress. It was a little weird seeing her do dishes right in front, but no big deal. It was because when she was talking to the cook through the service window, she kept touching her hair, eating slices of cheese and then didn't wash when our food was done and she served it. Gross! We were heading to go apple picking and found this place for breakfast. It seemed busy, which was encouraging. Unfortunately, there was only one server who divided her time from serving tables and washing the dishes in front of the customers in a small sink. I hope she was using soap. This really turned my stomach as it is very unappetizing to watch this and would expect more of a sanitized environment. My fiancé ordered a pancake dish and was able to have the pancake syrup for approximately 2 minutes before it was whisked away for another patron's meal. We were thinking more than one syrup container would be available at a breakfast joint, apparently not. My southwestern omelet was of poor quality, with some sort of egg beaters and the salsa obviously canned. I left this place uneasy and will not return. There must not be too many breakfast places in Stow because I cannot figure out why it was busy. read more

The only bad thing I'll have to say regarding this place is that I didn't find it sooner. This is my absolute favorite diner. I'm obsessed with the home-fries. They are perfectly seasoned and toasted...the food is always great! I come here often with my family and we always leave super happy. Great costumer service and great quality food. The coffee is also great. The costumers really seem to enjoy themselves and the wait staff always have a genuine smile on their faces. Everyone is friendly and I'm good spirits and never have to wait long for the food. Overall AWESOME DINER! Would recommend to anyone looking for great breakfast/brunch spot in town.
