They do a great job placing you in a comfortable spot with the nostalgic furniture, the sports memorabilia, the local news article clippings. The bartender met me w a greeting as I walked in and quickly I found out he would be the host, waiter, bartender, and busser. I never had an empty glass of beer because he never allowed me to have one, the food came out piping hot, and it was easy to pay the check right away and all done by the same guy! So besides the nice vibe and great service they had some very good bbq and side dishes. The chicken and the pork ribs were solid choices. Both moist and tender and glazed with a really nice bbq sauce. I will definitely be here again when I am in the area again.

The first time, I came for the Monday night burger and beer special for $10.95 after 4pm. The burger was very good with a nice sized patty, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles on a wheat bun. The beer pour isn't just a glass, it's larger-sized schooner. Specialty beers on tap are an extra $2. The burger doesn't come with a side, but a tasty burger and a large beer for under $11 is a great deal. The following week, I came back for the Tuesday night BBQ special. Their BBQ chicken and ribs dinners are 30% off, and come with two sides and a fresh dinner roll. I got the full slab of ribs which was only $21 after discount. They definitely do not skimp on the ribs, as the plate came with two large half slabs stacked on top of each other. The ribs were cooked well, and the BBQ sauce had a good mix of tang and sweetness. I had coleslaw and fries for my sides. The other options for sides are Beckett's beans, potato salad, macaroni salad, and pasta salad. A half slab and the fries filled me up, and I took the other half and the coleslaw home. This is also a great deal for only $21. Other special days include Wednesday $3.50 schooner night from 5pm to 7pm, Friday night $10.95 fish taco plate, and Saturday and Sunday breakfast specials from 10am to noon. They have a pool table, darts, and many TVs with various sports playing. Service was timely and friendly.

There is a small parking lot behind the restaurant which is often full. We usually park in the free multi-story parking garage just east of Harbor and Wilshire. It is a short one block walk to High Horse from there. As the name suggests, the décor is very western themed with lots of wood, cowboy hats and boots, wagon wheels, lassos, saddles, taxidermy, etc. Seating options include booths, high top tables, and at the bar. They have happy hour Monday through Friday from 3pm to 6pm with food and drink specials. We started out with the pickle fries ($12) which were excellent. The pickle slice thickness to batter ratio was perfect, and they were served with a side of ranch. My first cocktail was The Smoking Gun (bacon washed Elijah Craig bourbon, maple syrup, angostura bitters, orange bitters, $18). It is smoked tableside and was a healthy pour. The bacon and maple flavor was very light, but it was very smooth. Her first cocktail was What Would Dolly Do? (Hornitos plata tequila, Los Sundays jalapeno tequila, Del Maguey peubla mezcal, simple syrup, lime, pineapple, grapefruit, $16). It was balanced with good jalapeno flavor and pineapple below with a light smokiness. For my entrée, I had the half slab of baby back rips ribs ($28) with coleslaw and fries. The plate arrived steaming hot and I was impressed with the portion of ribs. There were seven meaty ribs that were very flavorful and the BBQ sauce was good. The fries were crisp and seasoned, and the coleslaw was good too. She had the Up The Creek spice rubbed cedar-plank salmon ($26) with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The portion of salmon was good and it was flavorful. The asparagus was cooked well, but they were over salted. She also enjoyed the potatoes. My second cocktail was the Skinny Dipper (Tito's vodka, St. Germain, aloe vera water, watermelon, lime, $15). This drink was light and refreshing, with floral notes, and watermelon and lime standing out. It also had a great looking color. Her second cocktail was Ladies Love Outlaws (rose petal infused Ketel One vodka, St. Germain, simple syrup, grapefruit, lemon, rose wine, $16). This was also light with floral notes, and had good grapefruit flavor. It was very lively at 6:30pm on a Thursday evening. We left a little after 8pm, and the place was packed as they have line dancing. There was a big crowd of at least twenty people dancing in front of the restaurant and having a great time. The service was good, and our server was very friendly. The food and drinks were great, and I think they were a pretty good value for the price.

We got there right when they opened and got seated at a booth. They had football running on all the tv's, except the large one above the back entrance was playing the Dodgers game. We were stoked! Within a few minutes the manager was pointing a remote up at the TV to switch to football. My husband politely went up and asked him if he could leave it on the Dodgers game. The manager just said "no." When my husband clarified if there was a way to keep it on the game, the manager again just said "no". This was a very rude way to answer someone just asking a question. He could have at least given a slight apology, or a quick explanation as to why he had to put all tvs on football, but he chose to just keep looking up at the TV and just say "no". We asked the waitress also and she said something like "we have to have all the tvs on football" or something. This was nuts considering there were a few other people in there,,and trust me, they weren't glued to one of the 5 tvs watching football. We were hoping they could just change one of the tvs by our booth. The food was great, as we love their wings and their fountain drinks. It wasn't a dealer breaker that we couldn't watch baseball, but it WAS a dealer breaker that we had such a rude interaction with the manager guy.

Let me tell you why I keep coming back here…read more It's not just the beer, although Bootleggers has plenty of that. It's the patio. There's something about the outdoor space here that makes Bootleggers feel like a little beer oasis tucked just far enough away from the hustle of downtown Fullerton. There are plenty of covered tables, lots of shade, and a large, permanently covered section with a giant TV showing sports and other important television events. When they have live music, it's usually the kind that actually improves the atmosphere rather than taking it over, you know, good musicians, good music, but still chill enough that you can have a conversation. And, of course, there's the beer. They have a really solid and diverse selection, with several IPAs, stouts, seltzers, and other options usually available, plus a selection of beers from other local breweries. It's hard to imagine coming here and not finding something you like. If you can't you're just an openly hostile person. Consider meditation. There's a food truck parked along the side that has basically become part of the Bootleggers landscape. And while outside food is no longer allowed, that's not really a hardship because the food is actually pretty damn good. The sandwiches, salads, and other offerings are all solid, but the fried pickles are the real reason I keep coming back. They're cut lengthwise, breaded just right, and fried until they're perfectly crunchy. Basically big, tart, crunchy submarines of fair food fun. I have a difficult time going to Bootleggers without ordering them. Every. Single. It's close enough to downtown Fullerton to walk to, but just far enough off the beaten path that the patio feels removed from the usual bar scene chaos. The street is nearby, but you barely notice it. It's just a nice place to sit outside, drink a good beer, listen to some music, watch a game, and hang out for a while. Sometimes you don't need another crowded bar with loud music and a $16 cocktail. Sometimes you just want a good beer, some shade, and a plate of ridiculously good fried pickles. Bootleggers does that really well.

My boyfriend and I had an absolutely wonderful date night at Chako's Social Restaurant in Fullerton! What made our experience truly stand out was the incredible service from the cook himself. Not only was the staff friendly and attentive, but the chef personally delivered our food to us, which was such a unique and thoughtful touch. It really showed how much they care about their guests and the quality of their dishes. The chef's name was Michael Dee. He was very kind, and the food he made was really delicious. Speaking of food--everything we ordered was fantastic! We started with the Sweet Potato Waffle Fries, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning. My Bacon Jalapeño Smash Burger was delicious--the patty was juicy, the bacon was crispy, and the jalapeños made the burger spicy, but not too spicy. My boyfriend ordered the Pepperoni Flatbread, and she loved how the crust was crispy yet light, topped with deliciously melty cheese and perfectly cooked pepperoni. More importantly, my boyfriend had an amazing time, which made the evening even more special. If you're looking for a fun midweek spot, Chakos is the place to be especially on Wednesday nights for karaoke. The vibe is super welcoming, and the crowd is always a mix of regulars and newcomers who just want to have a good time. The real highlight is the live band karaoke hosted by Eric Tucker. He brings so much energy and keeps the night flowing with a great mix of songs, fun banter, and just the right amount of encouragement to get even the shy singers up on stage. Went here randomly, tried the bbq brisket sliders, they were so good, I can tell the sauce wasn't just out a bottle, the chef for sure touches it up with more seasoning, we also had the nachos and they were good too, although I wish there was more shrimp, I think my friends got it all before I can eat much of it. The service was great too, Abby helped us, and was very attentive. It was also nice that the chef came out to introduce himself and make sure our food was all good, it's not often chefs do that so it was refreshing, and a sign of good management (hi Mike) I wish the music and event noise was a little lower so we could hear each other, but that's not a big deal. I attended the Galentine's Paint and Sip at Chako's Social in DTF last weekend and let me just say it was one of the BEST paint and sip events I've been to! The vibe was fun, the energy was high, and for the price, it was absolutely worth it. The last paint and sip I attended was $75, and it didn't even come close to the experience I had here. Juanita, the instructor, was amazing, super kind, patient, and so helpful, even though I arrived late. She made sure I caught up and felt comfortable throughout the process. We did live band karaoke here and had so much fun! The band is super interactive and keeps the energy high all night. I took my girlfriend for her birthday, and they made her feel so special -- sang to her, gave her a birthday shot, and just showered her with love. Every time I've gone, the vibes have been perfect. The drinks were amazing especially at a good price and almost at every hour they were giving specials on the drinks or the shots. I did accidentally spill my drink and the staff was so cool about it, specifically Stephen helped clean up the spill and even refilled my drink which was so thoughtful. I recently visited Chakos in DTF. The ambiance and food was good, but the service was second to none!!! Abraham our bartender was amazing! Came out with my wife yesterday for a quick drink , the place was empty , looked very dark and the music was low we almost walked out to be honest. They need to sell this place so someone can do better with this place. Avoid this place. Djs suck here. Bands are aweful. Speakers are crackling and louud. When we pointed it out, the bartender insisted it was 24 oz. Later, we paid $20 for an $8 Coors and were given only $3 back. It took another 10 minutes to get her attention and correct the change. She did apologize, but after multiple issues with the charges, the whole experience felt dishonest. Mistakes happen, but this felt like a pattern. We won't be coming back.

The place is smaller than i thought and there only one restroom per gender. The service was great and the staff was really nice. They also have happy later in the night which awesome. The only thing was that table were messy and there are no trash cans. The tables were littered with bottles, glasses, and pizza boxes. We had to move aside pizza boxes and bottles to get a table. The staff didn't bother coming by to clear up the table at any point through the night which was really weird. The parking lot is pretty big but then again at night only the bar and liquor store are open in that shopping center.

We didn't want to disturb the other customers with our singing... haha! We could have played pinball or billiards, but we just wanted to hang out together and enjoy the calm, air-conditioned environment at opening time. We didn't have a reservation. We were the first customers of the day. Diane was our friendly server/bartender. She was cheerful and made us feel welcomed. I admired her for opening up the shop, taking our orders, paying attention to each patron, serving everyone, and cleaning up after us! She's amazing! I think we should return on karaoke night... then we can blend in... haha! We also would take another photo at the Photo Booth... and get our picture via email!
