Met some friends here to play some pool and unfortunately one of my friends left his ID in his wife's purse who went home and wasn't with us. Security guard that was out front advised my buddy that he couldn't come in (even though he was 43 years old and looked well over 21) I get it...it's policy, the Law and his call. But the Security guard was very rude, smug and you can definitely tell that he hated his job! My friend decided to just get picked up and go home while I stayed back to hang with my friends.....I attempt to go in and the Security guard asks me for my ID again (event hough he just saw it a couple minutes ago?) I asked him why and he said cus he's head of Security and he wants to see it again. I instantly knew and could tell that he was on a power trip and didn't want me to come in. I proceeded to show him my ID again and he said that he didn't like my attitude and that I couldn't come in? "He had the right to refuse service to anyone" he said! I have no idea why he was being such a A-Hole...definitely felt like he was being very racist toward me! I have been in to this establishment many times in the past, I've worked in the shopping complex for years and have never been treated this way before! I absolutely will NEVER come back here again and will do everything in my power to make sure all my friends and family never step foot or spend a dime here ever! Kind of a dive bar that myself and several clients, a few from Japan, came across while in Pasadena, California for business and a trade show. When I happened by, the man on the wheels of steel was the very cool and fresh Bobby May. Bobby is among my favorite Bobs because he manages to get every head bobbing on the dancefloor. A meeting with this Bob is a promotion of all that is funky indeed. Bobby possesses a solid music background, and he has had extensive access to vinyl over the years due to the hours he has put in at Burger Records. Bobby might drop Dazz Band, Marvin Gaye, Britney Spears, The Supremes, or Rick James at any given moment. Bobby's sense of fun extends to how he DJs his sets too. He does his darnedest to dance and sing along with the crowd. Anyone who drops in on 2J's would be lucky to witness a set from Bobby May of the leonine hairdo, of the record world, of the sensational tunes. Other than Bobby, the decor stands out too. 2J's interior is a goofy mixup of sports bar and divebar. There are the usual gaudy beer logos. These are offset by wacky objects like a giant moosehead mounted on the wall and/or the random funny enough sign. This place honestly surprised me in the best way. Roommate and I (girls in our mid 20s) went on a Friday night to kill time before a movie, and wanted to find a lowkey dive bar with pool. This spot is a hidden dive bar gem. You'll see a variety of folks here, from younger dudebros, to older cholo-looking dudes, to sports fans of all backgrounds watching the game in the large game room/billiard area. Bartenders were super friendly and attentive, and while it was getting busy for a Friday night, we got drinks right away and had no trouble grabbing a pool table. (I think its $1.50 per game?) Everyone was super chill with each other, all the crowds minded their own business and did their own thing, and they played good "throwback" 2000's music. I came in here last Saturday early evening, PISSED. Had the rage due to lack of substance and nothing going on. Tanner P., our friends Joey and Sara and myself decided to come here because Joey's friend or cousin or something apparently was going to be DJing here later that evening. We showed up probably about 7? Started the night off right with a (decently made) Black Label & Coke, they each got a tall can of Pabst ($4). Which is what all of us stuck with for the rest of the night. Game of pool. I don't know WHAT wild hair got up my ass, or what was in that Johnnie Walker, but I was kicking ass at pool tonight. We managed to befriend this intense crackhead (literally, yes.) by the name of Billy. He was standing near our table, alone, dancing his ass off (in this very empty establishment) and sweating profusely. Turns out Billy's story was intense.
