Challenge yourself for something different with 'Challenge Escape Rooms'. I love a good game night and why not take it out of the house away from the boards/tv-video games and work through some mental challenges with friends. Ok, I'm a bit competitive and like to win and using my mind to be a winner is always a good thing. Purchased a Groupon to try them out for a good price. I thought I was going to try a somewhat local spot, but ended up swapping from Franklin Square - Nassau location to the Patchogue - Suffolk location to include a friend. Groupon suggested multiple locations were available and when you call the # it worked, in addition to I was able to go online and view time availability easily. They were very accommodating to allow me to add additional player to my room which was great. Some place from a past experience I know wouldn't let you, but it was a yes this time here. Location was clean and easy to get to. The room I selected by name I almost assumed to be easy, but don't every assume as we always learn as it was very challenging, despite the 'Sweet' name. Almost think that with the clock that they put you on, they almost could have reduced the total amount of lock combinations that you needed to open...Then again I suppose with only the few friends maybe another brain or two could have been helpful for the clock. Although it does show you that if stuck in a situation with a small crew whom your thinkers are and whom you can rely on not to give up! :) The employees were very pleasant and approachable before and after. I would definitely do this again at this location or any of their others for something different on an event/adventure day/night out and encourage others to do the same. Have you ever had one hour to figure out clues in order to escape a room or else you'll face an untimely end to your hopefully productive life? Well if this is something that intrigues you, escaping rooms is the latest craze, and down in Patchogue you'll find Challenge Escape Rooms waiting for you. By the way, you'll probably come out of the other end of that hour in one piece regardless of success (unless this turns into a shoddy Saw sequel). This was part of a day of bachelor party fun for my longtime friend and fellow Yelper, Matthew K.. It was his (and his fellow groomsmen's) first experience in trying one of these escape situations, but I had done my fair share at a similar spot (Can You Escape?) in Mineola. Challenge Escape Rooms worked similarly in giving us a little background info on what to do (and not to do) and even gave us a chance to play around with a few types of locks before entering our hour long escape-fest. There are different themed rooms and ours dealt with a court case gone wrong and trying to find info to nab the culprit who might be found innocent (even though he's totally guilty). Without giving any actual steps or info away, the room was somewhat dark and you're given a few flashlights and other items to help in finding the clues you need to frame the guy and get on out of that room. Everything worked similarly to the ones I've done before except CER uses a walkie talkie to relay a few clues that you get to use (at your disposal). I didn't entirely like this because it was tough to understand what the staff member was saying at certain times. The other downer was that one of our locked items might not have been entirely...locked, meaning we got a piece of evidence out of the order we should've received it. So in the end, we didn't make it out in time, but the staff member did explain what steps we had needed which helped curb our curiosity. Overall, Challenge Escape Rooms of Patchogue was a fun experience and one Matthew K. and our group enjoyed. With my girlfriend so close by to this spot I might be back again soon to try out another room. I'm not big on the clue relay system and I'm hoping things are locked up a little better next time out, but as long as I don't see any signs of Jigsaw, I'm cool with another round here. read more

Having never done a Challenge Escape Room, I was very excited to give this place a go (thanks again to a reservation by Josh G.). Overall I had a blast (even though we lost). It's hard to compare this location to others only because I haven't been to other escape rooms, but I definitely had a good time and would give this place 4 stars as a result. The staff here honored our appointment right on time, showed us a quick video explaining the rules, let us practice with some different kinds of locks, and then "locked" us in our Challenge room. We were then of course given one hour to solve the crime (which I mentioned already we did not). It was honestly a lot more difficult than I expected, but now having a better understanding of what it's like, I would certainly like to try again. What I appreciated was that the staff actually explained the entire case to us when we got it wrong. During the case they can communicate 3 hints to you via Walkie talkie if you get stuck, but that's about it. After it was over, we got the full rundown of what we should have done to finish the case. Had I not known the answer, I probably would have been thinking about it all day still trying to solve it, but this put my mind at ease and I was then able to focus on the next activity of the day. For sure, Challenge Escape Rooms are perfect for groups! Great team building and bonding experience. read more

Yikes. A miss! My family and I have done many escape rooms, and this was really not anything to write home. We did the sweet shop- and finished within 25 minutes. We didn't even have to open Half of the boxes. When we got the key to exit, we tried using it on another box or two before stepping out to see if we had finished. There was nothing special about the room. Thankfully this was not our first escape room, so I know how fun they can be- otherwise I would not understand the escape room craze. We tried The Virus room, which apparently is their most difficult room. It took two of us the full hour, with one slight snafu with one of the locks that required one of the employees to assist us with, but I think without that we could have finished with a couple minutes to spare. We've tried a few other Escape Rooms on Long Island and one in Colorado and this one was definitely intriguing, challenging but fun. Highly recommend for a fun hour! read more

The photos on their website don't justify the experience. Paid 160 bucks and they couldn't even lock the door to the room. The mission wasn't well explained, the clues were obscure without assistance, and the entire experience was much lower quality than what we expected. Our family went to the escape room challenge for my sister's bday. At first we were apprehensive and did not know what to expect. We scheduled the Virus Room which is the hardest from what the staff told us. It was fun and challenging. We worked as a team and almost conquered the challenge. My mom is handicapped and uses and a wheelchair and was able to participate. Staff was friendly and explained everything before the challenge started. I would do this again. read more

I booked an escape room here with my family. Unfortunately, I was running late because I had to stop at the ATM to pay in cash, which resulted in that time being taken off of our escape room. I have done PLENTY of escape rooms at other locations. My family and friends have been late before and no one has ever told us they would be taking minutes off. When we were done, there were no other people in the building, so why would they need to take our time off? So disappointed. The room itself was good, although very hot, temperature-wise. The clues were tough, but all made sense and was very streamlined. You're not actually locked in the room, which took away from the illusion, but not a huge deal. The maintenance of the room itself could use improvement, as one of the clues was "broken" and almost caused us to not escape. At one point we needed to use dry erase markers, but the two in the room both had dried out, causing one of us to leave the room to alert the staff. The battery on the walkie-talkie given to us died 10 minutes in, again causing one of us to leave the room. Unlike other rooms I've done, there was zero pomp and circumstance once we "escaped". Just a plaque in a safe that read "YOU WIN". The room had a camera, but I'm guessing no one was watching us, because when we left, the staff didn't know if we "escaped" or not till we told them. My main gripe with this location, and the main reason I wouldn't go back, was with the staff. They seemed extremely disinterested, almost annoyed at the fact we were there. While we were in the room, all we hear was them goofing off and laughing. All three times we used the walkie-talkie, we had to call multiple times because none of the staff was paying attention. I've been to better rooms, and unfortunately, would not recommend this particular place. read more

We decided to try this location out, and opted for the Killer Countdown room, as horror-themed escape rooms are the best in our opinion. We also were drawn to the idea of being blindfolded AND handcuffed. Very luring concept (if you're into that). Once the blindfolds came off, the room was set up appropriately for the theme. Perhaps a little more scariness to some of the clues would have helped, but it wasn't that big of a deal. Still nicely put together. Cons: 1) This is the first escape room I've ever done that you have to LISTEN to escape. That's all I'm saying. In the heat of the moment, the last thing I'm doing is focusing on pre-recorded videos. The only thing I tend to listen to is the clue master. 2) We tried the same combination on the same safe for a while, but it wouldn't open. We finally asked for a clue, which was the exact combo we had already entered. Come to find out the lock was stuck or jammed, and the clue master had to come in and pry it open for us. We didn't get the clue back, but the guy said he would give us more time on top of the 60 minutes. 3) The room would definitely be overkill for 10 people and limited flashlights. This was becoming extremely annoying (which may have been intentional). Pros: 1) There were two types of locks that I had never seen before in any other escape room! Loved it. It's always good to be challenged in other ways. We've done too many escape rooms at this point, and certain things become so repetitive and too easy to solve. 2) If you write a Yelp review, they will discount your next visit. I don't think I'll qualify with my review since it's not 5-star or 4-star, but I do think that's a great way to do business. Yelp is key for businesses. read more

This place was absolutely HORRIBLE. DO NOT BUY THEIR GROUPON. It is extremely misleading and can only be used for certain rooms and at certain times which is written in EXTREMELY small print. Despite the misunderstanding - and the room we wanted being completely vacant when we arrived - they were not able to accommodate us and we heard the manager yelling at the employee trying to help us - over the phone . VERY friendly and helpful staff, but an overall disappointing experience. Such little creativity, sad props, and far too many lock boxes. My group was unengaged and, frankly, bored. Full disclaimer- not my first escape room. We did CarnEvil- Guy gave more than enough clues but was way to difficult, not to mention numerous times asking to "repeat himself" because we couldnt hear him over the radio. This takes the fun out of figuring your way out, which is the whole point of going. We (4 of us) were only able to solve 2 of the many puzzles. There had to be at least 10. Room was very dark making reading numbers almost impossible- having to take my cell phone out which takes away the novelty. After 45 mins and barely getting half way through we were checked out. Difficulty was 'medium' but Ive done challenging ones that were more straight forward. Not sure if it was the specific room or the establishment but for $60 we were pretty dissapointed. read more

Great night.. Great room.. Did the killer countdown with my family and we escaped with 40 seconds left! We were blindfolded and shackled to start, it was pretty cool! And great and friendly staff... Definitely gonna go back soon read more

The guys we dealt with were very friendly and clearly had fun with it too. We can't wait to go back and try another one. I have no idea how people do this with strangers. Lol. Horrible waste of money. Booked 12 people for the Virus room in Patchogue for a birthday party. 2 girls couldn't make it and they would not refund two tickets even though we called the day before. Once you pay you're stuck. No refunds! You cannot contact the owners only a completely unprofessional manager named Oscar. There is something sketchy going on since they do not have an office phone just call forwarding. Same goes for their email. The poor young lady who worked there alone was great. I feel sorry for her since she was so nice, but the company obviously does not care about her safety since the office backs to a very dark parking lot with several homeless people in it. It is in a very unsafe area of Patchogue so NEVER leave your kids there unattended. Oh and the 14 year olds solved the weak puzzle in about 20 minutes. That was $360 well spent. read more

This room was so terrible that I actually stopped at the restaurant next door with my group to review them. I'll start by saying that this was the 11th escape room I've done, and have done them in multiple states. Today, we were in Patchogue celebrating a friend's bday, figures would be fun. This room was so bad that I'm going enumerate my complaints: 1. The facility is basic, not at all exciting or nice; 2. By far the smallest rooms I've ever seen. 6 people were stepping over ourselves; 3. The rooms were soooo hot. The group before us warned us, but wow; 4. Despite being the worst escape room I've visited, it was also the most expensive; 5. The staff is completely inattentive and uninvolved. They don't watch on camera and communicate by walkie. Except, they dont pay attention to their walkies bc they (in particular the female) are too busy playing on their phones; 6. We won.... and nothing happened. We found a key and just stood around, in the dark and hot room, until the staff member finally paid attention to the walkie and said "oh, a key, yeah ok come out that's it!" No pomp or celebration, a first; 7. When we walked out I said you didnt even let us know. The response "yeah, I dont know. I just work here."; 8. No celebration photo offers. nothing. Until I found signs and said um please take a picture for my friend's birthday. In short, do not go to this company. They are just about as bad as the crew hanging out on the street corner outside of it. If you want to do a long Island room, go to Ronkonkoma. read more

First time going to this location for an escape room we were in the killer room and after multiple attempts trying to unlock one of the electronic safes we asked for assistance but was not given any for at least 10 minutes. We tried connecting with the staff and ultimately left the room to find them all watching a movie on their computer instead of helping us. Turned out the safe password was changed even though we had the right answer. Due to the safe not working and the lack of attention we were offered to come back at 50% off with an email. However it has been weeks later and no email has been sent. We even went back and called and they said they will get back to us but we have yet to hear from them. I would not recommend going to this location, awful customer service and no follow up. read more

It's a nice place for a first time room escaper maybe. This happens to be the worst one We've been to, and we've been to a lot. This place seemed more like owners were skimping as much as possible. The setting was not immersive, nor was the story. It was a white room with a ton of random locked boxes without any real puzzles or scenery. A few props were added to make it look like it was themed but it wasn't. You can tell from the lobby itself that this is not a good example of room escape games. Two of us did the Killer Countdown room in Patchogue. This is our fourth escape room and we loved it! The scary theme, being chained to the wall, etc. was definitely a plus. We didn't make it since there was only two of us. The staff was friendly and I appreciated being told what we missed at the end. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the walkie-talkie communication tool. It was very hard to hear the staff member on the walkie-talkie over the TV static and the lock box beeping. And since the staff wasn't watching us, when we asked for a hint they would ask what we wanted to know, instead of just giving us a hint. This wasted precious time each time we asked, going back and forth with a voice we couldn't hear trying to explain what we've done so far. Over all, a fun time! read more
