Who Knew? Father's Day 2026 was our first visit to Chamard, and from start to finish I couldn't get over 1. the simple existence of this restaurant 2. the exterior and interior 3. the service (blessed twice with Garret) 4. The Food and 5. the entire staff. Having just returned for a special family gathering (with a birthday thrown in), my brother, sister-in-law, and sister from West Hartford and Simsbury were blown away. I should note both my visits were in the daytime. Besides the rustic beauty of the vineyards, the grounds are lovely and set a peaceful tone for the restaurant. The interior is beautiful and with plenty of warmth and natural light from the windows. The walls are adorned with artwork for sale but tastefully done, as was a handcrafted bench (which I bought!) that allowed me an opportunity to sit and soak in this surprise dining experience. Our server for both experiences was Garret and honestly, we are spoiled - polite, upbeat knowledgeable and accommodating - even when he was the main server he never ignored our table. Every food course over two visits were nothing less than fantastic - from flavor to presentation the food was perfectly prepared. The server in taking the order and the wonderful chefs were both very accommodating for a member of our party with dairy allergies. From the website and now two visits this is not a winery tour or exclusive wine tasting spot - this is a beautiful restaurant that makes (in the basement) and serves their own wines - even the red is made on property from grapes brought in from out-of-state. I will be going back frequently and cannot wait for the colder months, holidays and dinner by their fireplace! read more

Beautiful property. My friend has been here multiple times. We came for some delicious wine with a view and it didn't disappoint! We enjoyed an exceptional dinner and terrific service on a beautiful, rustic setting. We particularly enjoyed the Ahi tuna and Bibb salad appetizers, swordfish entree and chicken pesto sandwich. A bottle of Chardonnay complemented dinner. Flourless chocolate cake, creme brûlée and pot de crème were healthy portion size and so tasty. We brought our dog and we were happy to sit by the pond at the picnic tables. There was little shade but it was late in the day. We ordered inside and someone brought the food out in to-go containers. We had to leave a credit card at the bar to have the wine in glasses rather than plastic. The stone white wine was very good. There were only three types of beer and no N/A beer. The chicken pesto sandwiches were a good value and tasty. The grilled cheese was a B+ and saved by being crispy. Fries were good and mostly crispy but the jumbo asparagus was a tough and oily mistake. All in all it was a delightful meal thanks to the beautiful evening in a very special setting with nice jazz over a loudspeaker. read more

After a day of shopping we love stopping by Chamard for lunch or dinner! The food is delicious! While most people think to come for a wine tasting (and you should) don't over look the incredible restaurant and delicious food! Service is incredible, The staff is knowledgeable and make great recommendations! My favorites include the French Onion Soup and the burger is a must! There are a variety of items that are seasonal which are always a pleasant surprise. Grab a glass or a bottle of their wine while eating and don't, skip on dessert, it's incredible! Came here to celebrate my SIL's big birthday. What a lovely place this was. Really enjoyed the ambiance and most importantly - their food. Whenever I see duck on the menu with a fruity sauce, it is a must-have. And when I asked our server what his top 3 favorites were - his # 1 was duck, then steak and burger. Given his input, I stuck with my first choice and so glad I did. The Duck was exceptional. The skin was perfectly crispy yet the inside was so moist. My plate was so clean, I didn't want to leave anything and was actually wanting more haha. The burger was very good too. But the salmon which my hubs ordered was just ok. Went for a tasting during their "Wednesday happy hour" 4-6pm buy 1 tasting $18 get 1 free. The winery was nice. They had a fireplace which gave it a nice touch. I was surprised at the size of the vineyard and the amount of vines they had. It must be nice outside in the warmer weather. For the tasting you get to Pick 3 - 2oz pours (a bit stingy for $18) . I guess I'm used to wine tasting at the NY vineyards in the Hudson Valley and the Fingerlakes where the tastings are an average of $10 - pick 5. BUT I guess as a BOGO it will do . We also ordered a glass of wine each as we did enjoy their wines. Pay attention to your bill . If "Wednesday happy hour BOGO" is your gimmick you should automatically know not to charge for 2 tastings. I brought it to their attention , they fixed it. Seemingly the only vineyard in the area, we were prepared for this place to be jam packed on a Friday afternoon. We were happily surprised when we were helped immediately and had no problem getting a picnic table in the shade outside. We ordered two bottles, the Stone Cold Red (a chilled red) and the Classe Heritage Primitivo (an earthy spicy red). Our group made short work of the bottles and the pommes frites we ordered. A member of the staff was nice enough to deliver our little app outside to us. It was hot and came with a house made garlic aioli that was to die for! The grounds are beautiful with a nice pond as an added bonus. The inside was also very nice. The Food, well, being I had dined there previously, I expected a similar experience, given this was a party, I expected the quality to be reduced, given there were many more mouths to feed. Yet, if failed on every level, the foods presentation, was so disappointing, and an embarrassing, I had to apologize to my guests. The luncheon was served Luke warm, and looked like something leftover from the day before, the only way to describe the presentation was to call it mush with a thin slice of overcooked chicken on top. When I told the server the food was cold, she shrugged and touched the plate and replied "it feels warm" The once delightful bread they make was "Stale" beyond wanting to eat it, in fear you could chip a tooth. The only acceptable form of food was the salad. The charcuterie, was acceptable, but not enough for a crowd of hungry guests who feared eating the bread. The server, although was helpful, was extraordinarily so, cutting flowers I brought like they were rope, moving vases and accoutrements where she thought they would look better. We have eaten at this restaurant several times over the years and I was quite surprised to see I had not actually done a review. Normally, we would just stop in and were lucky enough to always find a high top table and dine in the front area. This time we decided to make reservations, good thing we did, they were at capacity. For starters we had the charcuterie board which contained several different types of Italian cured meats, olive spread, pâté and a piece of baguette bread. Have been coming here for YEARS and am delighted with the food and service. Occasionally, a dish is too salty for my tastes, but I am sensitive to salty tastes. I always specify low-salt to the server. Baked Brie is outstanding and large, so make sure you are sharing it. Gnocchi, burger, fish of the day and many other dishes are outstanding. The soup is always wonderful Creme Brulee, Pot de Creme and Apple Tart are my favorite desserts. This is my favorite restaurant, and I live a stone's throw from NYC and lived there for many years, so I have lots of restaurants to compare it too. What a wonderful stop as we traveled along Hwy 95 in Connecticut! A beautiful piece of property with a lot of different seating areas, a beautiful pond out back and amazing food. We've eaten at Chamard often but our recent visit checked every box. Service is impeccable. We ordered the special prime rib sandwich. Not usually my first choice for brunch, but this was stellar. The crusty baguette was fresh and filled with thinly sliced prime rib. Others ordered the Eggs Benedict. Always top notch every time. Finally, the crème brûlée was amazing. There are several room all are brightly lit, surrounded by original art, with a mix of high tops and booths. Being in a working winery adds a touch of beauty. If you're looking for a true winery experience with someone who will walk you through the wines, talk about the tasting notes, etc, this is not the place. The wines were good, especially the Estate Chard and Merlot, however it was more of a restaurant that serves wine by the glass. There's no barrel room or winery feel, not to mention it was $18 a tasting (3 wines of your choice) and small pours for that price. The host was not knowledgeable about wines and didn't seem to want to entertain 2 people who really wanted to learn about the wines. We did not eat anything, but the food did look amazing. read more

Lovely lunch here on the way to a spa weekend! I'd love to come back in the spring or summer when there are leaves and fruit on the vines. Hands down, one of my favorite vineyards in Connecticut. I drove down for the wine tasting and i was pleasantly surprised that i liked all the 5 types of wine from the tasting menu. Having space reserved for walk-ins seems like a no-brainer necessity at a winery in Connecticut. Being completely full and unwilling to take a name at 5:45 after a rainy Saturday morning and afternoon in April because every seat is reserved and you don't let people drink at the bar seems a bit harsh. Could be improved with (i) dedicated walk-in space, (ii) taking names in case an upcoming reservation doesn't show up, and/or (iii) allowing people to drink at the bar. read more

Chamard is a beautiful Vineyard! I appreciate the wide open space it provides, and the variety of seating allows for a different location each time. You can sit on their deck and get wine flights, or you can take a bottle outside and sit among the grapes. Tables are spaced out, so it is always peaceful there. Each time I go it is pretty quiet, which seems to add to the vineyard's charm. Though I am no connoisseur, the wine is enjoyable. While you cannot bring your own food here because they have their own bistro, I don't mind, and rather like that it's not overrun with large groups like other vineyards in the area. That being said, I've met lovely people while at Chamard and enjoyed each experience. read more

The driveway is absolutely stunning ....Fabulous location to spend the day...sipping on wine paired with artisan cheeses on the deck while the sunsets or picnic in the vineyard....perfect destination for a celebration. It's also one of very few vineyards in ct that also serve food .. the bistro has a dining area (needs reservation) and a tasting room...seating is first come first serve..there were couple of groups having their bachelorette parties while at the yard they were also setting up for a wedding... seems like a popular venue for such! The vineyard consisting primarily of Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir ... you can schedule a private tasting or tour .. they have live music sometimes as well. We created our own tasting .. samples some estate rose, riesling, chardonnay and couple other one sparkling as well...2oz is anywhere between $4-$7 ... I felt the wine was weak.. again I'm no connoisseur ... but to my taste I felt I've had better wines for a better price. The food was great...the gnocchi was delicious! They have killer salads, and cheese platters... on the menu we're some sandwiches , flatbread Mac n cheese ... and more. This vineyard is breathtaking - the entrance is a fancy stone gate that leads you down a driveway with perfectly groomed grape vines on either side. As you drive towards the parking lot, at the crest of the hill you'll see their water fountain creating ripples in an otherwise glass-still pond. The main "house" and nearby barns scream New England ambiance, and there are places everywhere (the barns, the picnic tables, the patio, the tasting room) to sit down with a glass of wine and enjoy the day. Their tasting menu does not include all of their wines, so if you're getting a bottle ask for the full menu. They are on the more expensive side of Connecticut wineries, but given the crowd that should not be taken as a deterrent. This is by far one of my favorite spots in Connecticut! The grounds are beautiful, the food is amazing, and their wines are so good! They offer happy hour Tuesday to Thursday from about 4 to maybe 6 (call and ask)! The wines are half price and it's really worth it! It's sometimes hard to get a seat, but it's worth the wait! You can sit in their bistro, or for a more casual spin you can relax in the tasting room. We usually sit in the tasting room or on their patio.
