Center Street Brewing Company is a craft brewery that opened in Wallingford, Connecticut in March 2019. It was founded by brothers Peter and Tim Ford. Peter is a longtime resident of Wallingford and has dabbled in homebrewing for several years. He later apprenticed at the American Brewers Guild in Middlebury, Vermont. Eventually Peter decided to turn his hobby into a business and joined forces with Tim. The location that the brothers found for their brewery on Wallace Avenue (off of Center Street) had many former incarnations, including an artist's studio, a recording studio, an auto repair shop and more. They spent nearly two years renovating the space. It was never the brothers' intention to compete with other breweries, but rather be a local hangout where the Wallingford community can enjoy locally-brewed beer. Peter's wife Lynn later joined the team as the Tap Room Manager, and their sons John and Nick are now on board as well. The current assistant brewer is Matt Bryson. My wife and I first visited Center Street on their opening day. As you can imagine, the place was packed. The place is small, but cozy. I love all of the woodwork that they did on the interior; lots of repurposed materials. The brewery had eight beers available on draught that day. My wife and I decided to split a flight of five beers that included "The Other Woman" (Blonde Ale), "Brown Eyed Girl" (Brown Ale), "Off-The-Wall" (New England IPA), "Green Mountain" (Double IPA), and "Mocha Jo" (Porter). The latter was my favorite; it was reminiscent of dark chocolate-covered espresso beans. Center Street Brewing is another fine addition to Wallingford's craft beverage scene. read more

I'm sad I hadn't come here until recently when it's been open for a few years, oops! One obvious perk is there is a TON of parking both on the right side and left side of the building, and across the street. I've met my friend here a few times and it's a very cute place. Typical "Connecticut brewery' feel inside with shared wood tables and industrial seating/shelving. The bartenders/servers are friendly and helpful and explain what's on the menu if you have questions. They also have wine, occasionally a seltzer on tap, and these hard alcohol+soda things which are pretty good, too. (I'm not a beer person so I can't comment on their beer selection). I've sat inside each time but they have some picnic tables outside as well. It's not a huge brewery inside (about 5-6 tables, small bar area, and a few couchy spots) but they have a good soundtrack playing and some games to borrow in addition to one of those ring toss things. This is not the place to have a giant party or gathering, but a great spot to grab a drink with a friend for a few hours. read more

Went in a Saturday night for a quick stop to listen to a local duo playing some cover music. Food is not offered but there are local menus in a book that you can order from and have delivered. Service, beer, seltzer, and cleanliness are all a 5/5. The blueberry seltzer with fresh blueberries was just fabulous and a genuine blueberry flavor not artificial. The worst h of Wallingford was so good and the Walltoberfeat was extremely good. Highly recommend these. Pups are welcome outside which is so sweet. The inside is very comfy. If you're not a beer lover they can accommodate you with a variety of canned wine, and ciders. We will be back! read more

I came here on a Saturday afternoon with my husband and another couple. We found parking really easily in the lot right outside and was able to get a table inside. The place was so cute! I liked the décor and the folks behind the bar very helpful. We all got flights and appreciated all the options on the menu. I liked the Mocha Jo Porter particularly. I would also say that the prices were very reasonable compared to quite a few places nearby. I'd also say to get there a bit earlier in the evening because the place fills up! Great vibe here! I love that their tables are made from trees that were knocked down during the tornado at Sleeping Giant. Had the "GOAT" and "Witch of Wallingford" both were great IPAs and we ended up getting a groaner of GOAT and a four pack mix-pack. Super friendly, welcoming staff. Cute local brewery in the perfect spot in town -- just slightly off the beaten path so there's quiet and SOME privacy, but easy to get to other spots as well. We stopped by for a quick flight and to pick up some mini-growlers for an event (we brought our own since they don't have any just yet). While I wasn't crazy for anything I tried, everything was unique and made really well. The Banana Hammock, for example, had an obvious banana taste without being overwhelming. It's a big welcoming space that could probably get a bit loud if there are a lot of people, but since the weather is still nice it's possible to open windows and doors to help with that. Another brewery? Yes please! This is a good one fo sho. Space is intimate without feeling cramped, beer selection is diverse, and location is near lots of other fun foodie spots on center street. Because the beer selection is very diverse, a flight is helpful to decide for your next order, but they also do half pours if you're torn on deciding. ATHMOSPHERE: Super chill vibe because Wallingford is awesome...with high top tables, few games to keep busy, and tucked in back of center street (technically on Wallace I think). It's a casual spot that welcomes everybody. Oh, and a little spot for cornhole outside...some ring game(?), and I definitely spotted rock'em sock'em robotics! Throwbackk! Also, bathrooms super clean. Oh, and something subtle I barely noticed--there's strategically places sound foam on the walls and ceiling to help absorb sound. Thumbs up for that. BEER: There's something for everyone so bring friends. My fiancé and I did two flights which are 10 bucks each, a great deal. Plus we got to taste each other's options. Ah, marriage, sharing everything, right? A few notes on memorable beer. My faves are the pale ale, double IPA, and on a hot day the Blonde. *Mocha jo porter- smooth, chocolate forward *Banana hammock - subtle kiss of banana. My fiancé says "it's so weird it's good" *Witch of Wallingford is a classic double IPA that's easily drinkable *Lucky #19 was my least favorite, because I don't like brown ales and it's not quite a true bitter. *But anything #1-5 on the menu I would order no prob. *The 1-way-IPA would pair great with a lobster roll from the truck across the street! Food truck menu is conveniently on the clipboard under the beer list. But it seems they also serve pizza. Or you can grab a brew and walk next street over to downtown's slew of restaurants. What a great little brewery. We stopped in this past weekend and Ryan and John were working. They helped guide my husband in his selections as well as in neighboring restaurants and fun things to do in Wallingford since it was our first time here. OMG will we ever be back. The brewery is spotless and without any smell which is extremely impressive. I'm one of the few who truly dislike beer and it's smell and this place is immaculate from the front door to the back brewing area to the restrooms. The floors are very unique as well and they are made from wood chips with some type of glaze perhaps over it. It's really attractive and looks artsy. The staff/owner are warm, friendly and helpful. There is both indoor and great outdoor seating and located in the heart of downtown. One thing which was fantastic for me and actually shocked me, was the chardonnay. I do not drink beer (mentioned above) so had the option of wine or tequila with soda. I chose the wine. When Ryan handed it over the bar, my face sunk. It came in a C A N. But, and a huge BUT, when you open it, it was so very tasty. It reminded me of Kendall Jackson. I believe it's from Washington, but it was very good. We used to live in Fort Collins, CO so have visited many many many breweries and I think this one has what it takes to do extremely well. Visit with complete confidence. This is the local brewery you've been looking for. I know: the last thing we need is another craft brewery. The market is already oversaturated, and most of them make remarkably similar beer. Honestly, I would not be shocked if the craft beer market suffered a bubble burst in the near future like in the '90s. But Center Street Brewing Company is not part of the problem. What impressed me most the few times I've visited was the sheer variety of brews they offer. So many new breweries open up nowadays and specialize in New England IPAs, because that's the hot trend, and there's no denying that IPAs/NEIPAs keep the lights on. If you like those styles, rest assured that Center Street has IPAs both hazy and bitter to suit your palate. But the beer menu is far more than that. Their brown ale is KILLER. I'd drink it all day long, and it's become my must-order when stopping in. Their English-style pale ale is legit. I spoke with the brewer and he's planning a dunkel beer and other styles that nerdier drinkers like myself go nuts for. This is a craft nerd's craft beer bar. And no matter what kind of beer you like, this place has it. You can get a flight that truly reflects the impressive diversity of the brewer's abilities. If you're newer to craft beer, there are easy-drinking IPAs, plus opportunity to expand your palate. If you're a craft beer nerd, geek out on some ESB and other lesser-made styles. I've popped in a few times, ordered all over the menu, and have not been disappointed in anything. There's board games, cards, big-screen TVs and corn hole. The interior is impressively built with plenty of room to maneuver and meet new people. And it's always good to support small local businesses such as this. Center Street is the downtown brewery that Wallingford has wanted for years. Stop in and you'll see so yourself. read more
