Rosabianca Vineyards is a craft vineyard and winery that opened in Northford, Connecticut in 2015. It was founded by Charlie Rosabianca. The roots of the vineyard go back several decades. Charlie's father Andrea Rosabianca immigrated to Connecticut from Amalfi, Italy in the 1950s. He had dreams and aspirations to become a farmer, but with a family to support he was unable to achieve that dream. He instead became a carpenter, but he always had the most beautiful gardens. Beginning in the early 1970s, Charlie took up the hobby of making homemade wine. In 2010, he decided to retire from his job and pursue his dream of opening a winery. In 2012, he and his family purchased a ten acre property in Northford with the hopes of turning it into a vineyard. They planted their first acre of Cayuga grapes in 2014 and by the following year the tasting room had opened to the public. Charlie dedicated the winery to his father (who had passed away in 1997), and all the wines are given Italian names as a tribute to him. In addition to producing wines with estate-grown grapes, Rosabianca also sources grapes from California. Several members of Charlie's family are also involved with the business, including his cousin Maria Calabrese, his daughters, and multiple grandchildren. My wife and I have visited Rosabianca Vineyards multiple times since they opened. They have an excellent repertoire of wines and some even pop up seasonally (I have a soft spot for their Holiday Rosé). Although the winery doesn't distribute, it's no big deal for us because they are just a short drive from our house. The property is beautiful with a nice outdoor patio area, gardens, and beautiful views of the vineyards. My family and I recently stopped by the winery for a visit; it was our first one since the pandemic. The winery recently renovated and made additions to their tasting room. We still opted to sit outside on the patio. We chose this particular day to come because we knew that they had scheduled a pizza truck to come. Sipping some local wine on the patio paired with delicious wood-fired pizza is always a good time! My wife and I ordered and shared a bottle of the winery's "Bianco Rosato": a semi-sweet blend of Gamay and Cayuga grapes that has aromas of watermelon and undertones of cherry, raspberry, and honey. We all had an excellent experience and we plan to return to Rosabianca again and again! read more

I visited this vineyard on June 11, 2021. We planned on having dinner at the vineyard, since they advertised that the New Haven Pizza Truck would be there, but it was posted on Instagram that afternoon, that due to a family emergency, the pizza truck wouldn't be there. We saw this post a few hours before we were planning on going, so we picked up some sandwiches from Fabi's Pizza in Wallingford on our way. When we arrived, the hostess offered us a menu for pizza delivery, in case we hadn't seen the post. That was a nice touch, and would have been very useful if we hadn't been aware. We were seated on the patio, which was spacious and surrounded by vines. It was really pretty. The service was very fast, and within minutes we were each served a wine flight. They have a great system, where when you are ready to order again you put up the number and someone comes right over. They have a great variety of wines. I prefer sweeter wines and they do have a nice variety of those. I would definitely visit again, and I've posted their menu and some pictures of the Vineyard. read more

Super cute, patio seating or a small spot overlooking a little of the vineyard below. Wines were fairly prices, starting $9 a glass. So why the lower rating? Didn't love that there was a the request of a tip when I put my credit card down. It's awkward while someone is standing there watching if you are going to tip there, especially at a winery, as I've actually never needed to tip at a winery. And yes, they vineyard doesn't make you tip, but even having that option feels like they are trying to get you to tip (and please don't use the argument that guests have asked to tip via a credit card - you'd default to 0, instead the credit default was 18%). That really spoiled what was a nice visit to the winery. read more

If you want to feel transported to Italy, here's your spot. Beautiful outdoor patio with plenty of tables (in addition to some on the grass) and a giant tree in the middle which adds to the ambience. Will say the strictly-Italian-opera music was a little cheesy. When we arrived, the sign in front said to wait to be seated. Took a little longer than we'd hoped and the staff was honestly not the friendliest (mostly why I took a star off). We were kind of plopped off with no explanation of wines or anything. When another waitress finally came by, she took our order, but barely a smile and she seemed in a rush for us to order so she could leave. I ordered the Dolce Gocce (which I just found out translates to Sweet Drops). A very nice white blend, light, and fruity. My husband and friends ordered and shared first a bottle of red, then a bottle of the dry Bianco Rosato - a bit too tart for me, but still decent. We called ahead and they said they had a food truck (pizza) AND you're allowed to bring your own food. We brought some snacks and we got 2 pizzas - the pizza slices are very small but the margherita was super good. No pets allowed here, however. Overall, a very nice afternoon (albeit hot!) outside with friends, wine, and food. At one point, the owner came over and explained a wine dinner coming up (tonight, actually) but we have plans and can't attend. It sounded delicious. He was very amiable and definitely a lot nicer than the other waitstaff that we interacted with. He's gotta tell them to step up their game! read more

Rosabianca is the best winery in CT in my opinion and I've been to just about every winery. Charlie, the owner and winemaker, along with his daughters do a fantastic job of making everyone feel like family. The outside patio is absolutely stunning. This is a small family run winery with fantastic wine and atmosphere. The wines are dry with some slightly sweet, so there is something for everyone. New this year is the Frizzante, which is actually Prosecco. It's absolutely delicious! I highly recommend giving Rosabianca a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

What a gem up on a hill this was. We made our way into the tasting room as literally I think the doors opened for the day. Once there, we were summoned upstairs to the tasting room which overlooked the vineyards. It looked like they had quite the outdoor seating setup but it was a tad chilly to dine outdoors that day. A red wine tasting flight turned into a bottle and a well curated meat and cheese plate. Charcuterie is so in right now. So in. At some point we got introduced to the owner by his daughter who was serving us that day. What an awesome family they were. We enjoyed the chit chat with them as we closed down the vineyard tasting room. As we finished off our second bottle, we made our best decision of the day, a to go bottle. The wine is some of the better options in the local area of wineries. I highly recommend the Tre Uve. After trying a few options this was the clear winner for me. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was quite busy. We had to wait close to 20 mins for a table, but that was our personal choice to do so. Currently they have a 2 hour time limit on table sitting, which is helpful when others are looking to enjoy some time there on a busy day. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Some reviewers have complained about waiting too long for service between drinks, but honestly we didn't have an issue. In the two hours we were there we did have 3 different people service us. I imagine that is to keep the flow going and it was a great team effort by all working. They are very big on sanitation and social distancing practices. I personally didn't like how I wasn't initially asked if I wanted hand sanitizer before getting seated, but rather was made to take a "squirt" before being seated. I carry my own and due to issues currently surfacing about harmful ingredients I would have appreciated being ask with the option to decline and use my own. The only other "downfall" I would call out is the inability to bring you own food. They had a food truck on site, but if someone wasn't in the mood for Mexican you were out of luck. Other wineries in the area allow you to bring your own food and it would be nice if they did as well. All in all I will definitely return. The wine is great and I love the patio atmosphere. I image it'll be really pretty in the fall. And once the construction ceases across the street that will really add to the beauty. read more

This winery is adorable!! The view is absolutely incredible for an afternoon of wine tasting. The owners are so friendly and welcoming and will gladly spend the afternoon chatting with you. We got two wine samplers and loved them both. They also sometimes have a wood-burning pizza oven station available, and I definitely recommend it! I agree with another review's assessment that Rosabianca is much prettier in person then on the road. They have an indoor and outdoor tasting area, with lots of tables outdoors on the patio. Parking can be a little interesting, if the general lot is full cars start to park on a more rugged, grassy area where getting in and out can be a little tight. The vineyards are beautifully laid out with natural wood as the posts & trellises for the grapes. There is this amazing tree that spreads shade over a gorgeous large stone patio with multitudes if seating options, a lower outdoor patio with more seating. Music playing, various wines, wine slushees, water & other beverages also available. Food trucks are a frequent occurrence and we came the afternoon of Melly P's panini truck which was a heavenly combo with our wine. Many people go all out bringing cheeses, fruits, tablecloths, candles etc to enhance their experience even more. There was also the gambit of patrons young to old, families to seniors, a great way to spend an afternoon or evening in the weekend. read more

We stopped in for a brief visit during a busy vacation. The wines here are all good, very solid. They were certainly better than most of the wines we were finding in restaurants in the area. The five selections included a Seyval blanc, a moscato, a primitivo, a dolcetto and then a red blend (cab and petit sirah). The red blend was our favorite, although the Primitivo had an excellent, long, peppery finish. The tasting room was nice, service was good, and there is a nice, large outdoor area to have an extra glass or share a bottle with friends. The wine itself deserved a 3 1/2 star ranking, so perhaps my rating is low; but I was confused about how this place works? They had a few fermentation bins, empty, in the building. They had maybe an acre or so of very young vines, and they said that they didn't have any of the type of wine (forgot the variety) that they made with their local grapes available for tasting nor purchase. The said they bought grapes from a valley in California that I didn't recognize, but I didn't see any aging barrels nor bottling facility around. Maybe they do it off-site, or out of state? This was the only "vineyard" that we visited in CT, so perhaps it's the norm for all of them in the state... but I was surprised at how little like a vineyard and how much more like a wine store this place seemed to be. read more

If you haven't been here, you have to stop in. Rosabianca is truly a family vineyard and the owner walks around and interacts with everyone. You always feel welcome. The place is a little small, and when you walk in the tasting room and some seating is located upstairs. They also, have seating outside - works nicely in good weather. Every Friday, they have a pizza truck, they have some cigar Thursdays, and yoga on Sundays with a panini truck. We had been here before but forgot what we liked, so we did the tasting again. Sarah was our server and she was so nice, welcoming and friendly. They have about 5 whites and even more reds. Their moscato is not as sickeningly sweet as most moscatos, and they also have a semi-swert red. Both are really good. Most of the reds and whites are not sweet. I think most wine lovers can find a wine they like here. Overall, it's a great place and worth a visit. read more

Will definitely be back soon to try other wines and the wine slushee! Very friendly/knowledgeable staff, very clean facilities and outdoor spaces. My only real complaint is that I don't like how (like at several other nearby locations) wine tasting HAS to be done indoors. No one wants to stand at the bar for an hour and to tastings when people can sit outside on the patio and do them instead. Yes, I acknowledge this requires more staff, but the difference in experience would be significant. I also noticed they didn't seem to serve any type of food (crackers and cheese even), but a lot of people seemed to bring food. Another option to improve general experience. I absolutely LOVE visiting Rosabianca Vineyards. The wines are delicious, the atmosphere is great, and the family is wonderful! During the winter time you can taste wines on the second floor of their winemaking barn. Its really neat because as you taste your wines you overlook the winery production facility. You can literally see your wine fermenting as you taste last year's vintage. So cool! In the summer time you can enjoy wine on their outdoor patio overlooking their vineyard. It's a beautiful and serene view. Tastings are $11.00 for 5 tastes of the wine - 2 whites, 2 reds, and then one wine of your choice. Plus you get to keep the glass. My favorite wines so far are the Bianca Rosato (the Rose), Primitivo (Italian Zinfandel), Dolcetto (Italian Red Wine), and the Tre Uve (Red Blend). I always love bringing friends to this winery because there is always something for everyone to enjoy. Oh my goodness. How absolutely adorable and quaint is this place? We've must have passed by it countless times not really realizing the awesomeness that was hidden behind this little semi-secluded place. The property it pretty beautiful. Our friend, whose birthday it was on Friday had us meet him there for some wine and pizza (pizza supplied by the New Haven Pizza Truck). We arrived before him and parked in the crowded parking lot and upon walking in was promptly greeted by Lisa who scouted out a table or two in the distance that were still vacant. Strolling in there with our 1.5 year old, this was my fear was that there would be no open spaces to sit. Lisa quickly grabbed a mopeen (I mean a dish towel) to unfold chairs for us and wipe the table down. Right off of the bat, this place was really accommodating to us. Ten minutes later, our friend arrives and we relocate to another open table higher up on the patio, right next to the stand for serving wines. The Moscato was amazing! Our son was super well behaved (surprisingly as it was totally his bedtime, he had been running around all day out under the sun at daycare, etc). He loves to people watch. A couple people who work there stopped by over the course of the hour and a half that we were there to mingle with him. Our experiences here were just so relaxing and enjoyable. They close at 8pm, so as that was approaching and as our son clearly should be in bed by his watch, he starts throwing Cherrios on the ground. As I'm bending down to pick them up individually, Lisa appears with a broom and dustpan and insists that I let her take care of it. Aww. Overall, I was slightly nervous bringing a baby to a vineyard, but Rosabianca's staff made us feel more than welcome. 10 stars for Lisa! Oh and we will totally be back. read more

A great little CT winery with a rustic atmosphere and friendly staff. The wines are very good and moderately priced. The owner's daughter was very helpful in selecting wines for our group and provided background and history not only on the winery but also on many of the wines. The tasting room is on the 2nd floor and is on the smaller side, so plan accordingly. However there is plenty of seating outside, weather permitting. I am going to avoid commenting on specific wines since everyone has different varietal preferences. I will say of the wine I sampled, both red and wine, that they were well balanced. More specifically for the 3 bottles I sampled they reflected a balance of acidity, sweetness and tannin in good harmony. Don't forget to add Rosabianca Vineyards to your winery tour. read more

A little vineyard doing big things! The place serves up some of the best wine I've tasted in CT; however, most of the grapes are harvested in California or New York. Here are a few things to note at this time: - The winemaker has strong Italian heritage - Tastings are $10 - They have a combination of several red and white wine including a red and white mulled wine...all made in stainless steel barrels - Aside from italian specialty crackers, they don't serve food, but you can bring your own - They are open to 8 pm on the weekends - They are in process of building a bigger venue - They are not part of the CT wine trail or passbook The current venue is small and quaint but very family oriented. Awesome vineyard! A very simply list of amazing wines. They offer a great wine tasting and the staff is very knowledgeable about the wines offered. If you come here for the first time I would definitely recommend doing the wine tasting; you get a beautiful wine glass and a sample of 5 of their wines. It's a great way to get an idea of what is offered here as well as help you decide on a bottle! I really enjoyed the Dolce Gocce. They made a delicious moscato that isn't overtly sweet like what you would normally find. I also recommend a red they have that they call the sunset! Very delicious Rosabianca offers a warm and comfy barn type indoor seating but they also have a beautiful patio with tables , seats, and benches all situated in front of a nice view of the vineyard. Feel free to bring food/ friends and get a bottle or two. You will not be disappointed with the wine here! Overall, Rosabianca continues to please! This family owned vineyard will keep you coming back, everyone is very very friendly. To start off, I do want to commend Rosabianca on their atmosphere because it is a beautiful little spot. Unfortunately though this review is for their service. After many tries, my husband and I finally got a chance to experience the vineyard but right off the bat the service was lacking. Long story short, it was an 85 degree sunny day outside and we didn't get offered water, nor was it anywhere to be found for self service as most vineyards/breweries provide. Lastly, we sat for 25 minutes at our seated table right in front of the bar and not a single server approached us for our order. All in all, we'd like to try Rosabianca again, but it's going to be a while before we do and unfortunately we're going to be very reluctant when that times comes. read more

Nice little winery about 20 minutes outside of New Haven. The turn off from Route 17 can be easily missed, so watch carefully for the little sign. Four of us visited on a rainy Saturday afternoon in mid May around 5pm. The tables inside were mostly full, but there was some room around the bar. We each did the tasting ($11 for five 5oz pours and a commemorative glass). Afterwards, we got a bottle of wine and split it. The upstairs of the barn (where the tasting and seats are) is quite nice. They have an outside patio, but it isn't covered so a no go for rainy days like when we visited. However, the patio looked very welcoming and had nice lights strung above so you can enjoy it in the evening. The wines themselves were flavorful. They had whites, reds, red blends, and rosés, with dry and sweet options in each category. The wines while we were here were all grape based wines with fruit accents, no fruit wines. Adding to the experience was the nice guy behind the bar, Aldo. He made nice conversation with us and made it like we were enjoying wine at a friends rather than at a business. They do not serve food there, but people did bring their own food. Aldo informed us that they have a pizza truck there one night each week; they also have a cigar night. We didn't feel rushed at all and practically had the place to ourselves. We got to meet the owner as well as he just popped in to say hi and see how everything was going. So nice! I bought a few of the wines and will definitely be back to buy more. While we were there a man came in looking to buy a case of a wine that we tried and liked. He said that he had served it at a family dinner once and everyone loved it so much that they keep asking for it.
