My wife came here last year for drinks on a girls night and always wanted to come back. Finally we did a few weeks ago on a beautiful Friday night. Place was fairly busy outside but dead inside other than people ordering. Food came out pretty quickly and was all excellent. Bill added up pretty quickly and the portions (other than the fries) seemed a bit small for the price. Loved that they had some good beer options for the non-wine drinkers like myself. You get to keep a glass with the flight as well They have a rewards programs and you get a free slushy for your birthday. There is a whole huge outside area and you can also bring your own snacks. We came here as part of a bachelorette party, and the bride specifically called on Wednesday to ask whether we needed a reservation for our group. She was told that they do not take reservations and that seating is first come, first served. When our bus arrived, however, someone from the brewery actually came onto the bus and immediately told us that our group would need to stay outside. We then walked in and saw that the entire indoor area was essentially empty. What made this especially frustrating was that we were there during a nor'easter. Despite the empty indoor space, we were made to sit outside in terrible weather just to have a drink. Had the bride been told when she called that groups of our size could not sit inside or that there were different policies for larger parties, we absolutely would have planned accordingly and gone somewhere else. The issue wasn't that they couldn't accommodate us -- it was the complete lack of communication. We specifically called ahead to avoid this exact situation and were given no indication that we would be restricted to outdoor seating. Making a bachelorette party sit outside during a nor'easter while the indoor space was empty was incredibly disappointing and put a major damper on what was supposed to be a fun stop for the bride. read more

A beautiful 58 acre hilltop winery in Watertown, CT. I love vineyards so I was excited to visit. I went when the weather was warmer; what a picturesque place to visit. We got lunch first; they had pizza and sandwiches. The food was good! I love dining room, the patio, and the lawn. I started off with wine tasting; they offer 6 small cups. Oh, this is a fun place! We were visiting cousins in CT and they told us we were going to a winery for a tasting experience. We enjoy that, so we were happy to agree! We packed a picnic lunch, but we figured we'd either eat and then do the tasting or vice-versa. But they do it differently here, and it's really great. There are tables indoors and out. It was a somewhat overcast and very breezy day, so we opted for an inside table. It was midweek, so not as crowded as they apparently get on the weekends. We put down our lunch stuff and went to the counter. There, you take a menu. Buy a glass, buy a bottle, or do a tasting. They also sell some food, so bring your own, buy theirs, or a little bit of both! The tasting is $15. for 6 pours, 1 of each of 6 wines you choose from the menu. It says each pour is 1 1/2 ozs. Each comes in a container resembling a test tube, lidded and numbered in the order you checked on the menu, so you'll know what you're tasting. You get a souvenir wine glass to pour into, and at the end you can exchange the used one for a clean one to take with you. We had great fun tasting as we ate our lunch. I recently visited Hawk Ridge Winery and really enjoyed the experience. The drive was a bit far for me, but it was worth it. For just $15, you get a flight of different wines plus a souvenir glass with their logo -- such a nice touch and honestly unheard of these days! What I loved most was the atmosphere: You can rent tables under tents and bring your own food, or purchase food right there, which makes it flexible and fun. There was also live music, wine slushies (highly recommend!), and an overall relaxed, welcoming vibe. I also noticed families with kids, which was refreshing -- it felt like a place where everyone could come together, not just wine lovers. Ive celebrated my birthday at Hawk Ridge more than 5 times.. this year, we attempted, but were denied seating inside WITH OPEN TABLES AVAILABLE. We will never return. My party of 8 was traveling from all over to come celebrate my birthday this year (3 guest specifically drove over an hour). It was a very chilly day- 60 degrees with high winds making it feel like 30 degrees. We are planned to arrive at 12:30(30 minutes after opening) so we could secure a table inside. When we arrived and mentioned our party size, the lady proceeded to tell us we have to sit outside- the inside is for parties of 6 or less. We offered to split up at two different tables(and mentioned they did not even need to be next to each other / although there were PLENTY of open tables next to each other). STILL DENIED. The reasoning for why we could not sit inside changed many times... "parties of 6 or less, that's just the rule" / "to keep noise levels down" / the open tables are all reserved". We also offered to pay the table reservation fee which is $50 / table and does not go towards your tab !!! (Talk about stealing money from you) First of all, I worked in the restaurant industry for more than 15 years, I've managed restaurants for more than 5 years.. I know what they're doing.. they only have large tables under the pavilion that seat approximately 8-10, to be GREEDY they want to be able to seat at maximum capacity rather that seat customers as first come first serve... which is WILD. We are paying customers, we came to celebrate a special occasion.. we have supported your establishment for YEARS and because we had 2 extra people in our party we have to sit outside in the freezing cold? Also fyi- whether you sit a party of 8 or two parties of 4 the noise levels does not change... and if your concerned about noise levels then don't open a vineyard. Now that I know this establishment only cares about how many people they can seat ($$$) in order to make a high profit rather than customer service and hospitality we will not be returning. These greedy people do not deserve your business. read more

Wow! I've never been to a place so overhyped in my life!!!! The beer on tap was sad. The wine boring and bland--much like the food. The Charcuterie Box didn't taste fresh at all. The pictures make it look like paradise, but when you get there reality casts a different shadow. I hate writing bad reviews but stay clear from this place. It's not worth the money or time. Probably THE best winery I've ever been too. The wine was flavorful, not over powering, yet subtle enough with the perfect punch on your taste buds. The outdoor seating area with views of the mountains and foliage were breathtaking and a great way to relax and enjoy the sunset. I usually only take 1 bottle to go from other places, here I took 3!!! I will definitely come back! And dogs are welcome Great time as always, especially on a Friday night! I was in the state visiting family and we decided to check out a winery. We decided on this place and glad we did. It is so serene, spacious and relaxing. Beautiful property, plenty of free parking space. They offer inside and outside seating areas. Pets are welcomed. You can bring your own food. We tried the Soaring Hawk White Sangria and it easily so refreshing and delicious. We were able to sample a few others as well. Also, we tried the Fireworks slushie, I thought it would be sweet but surprisingly it was not, I liked it. Worth the almost hour drive. Beautiful venue with big pavilion, gorgeous lawn and friendly servers. There were three parties going on but we managed to grab one of only unreserved tables. I enjoyed my Arnold Palmer slushie and my friends said the wine was good by CT standards. We brought our own food , but they have a pretty full food menu. The inside is also an option , but it was a beautiful summer day so we wanted to be outdoors. I imagine the Fall is spectacular when foliage is peaking. Hawk Ridge Winery is located in Watertown, Connecticut, a peaceful farm setting, in which to enjoy friends, family, and delicious wine. I was able to bring my own table and some appetizers for my birthday guest, which is allowed, but the appetizers cannot be on platters. I put my charcuterie items in a snack ziplock bag and brought my own platter dish wear. The atmosphere was beautiful and the wine slushes we're delicious. The lines to the bar were long but went by smoothly and fast. There were a couple of food trucks there selling a variety of food from pizza, barbecue, and other assortment of food items. It was a great day to enjoy the atmosphere and my birthday with my friends and family with delicious appetizers and drinks. This place has something for everyone. You can sit inside, or out on the large porch, out back underneath the enormous pavilion, in an enclosed gazebo, or outside on an adirondack chair, at a picnic table, or on the soft green grass. They have a lovely selection of wines (of course ), alcoholic slushies, an assortment of beers, bottled water and more. You are allowed to bring your own food but not beverages for obvious reasons. There is often live music from local musicians which is and added bonus. Bathrooms are located inside the establishment along with outdoor porto potties. There is plenty of parking and space to roam. The views are beautiful no matter which side of the property you are on. There are views of the impressive vineyard, grassy hill, and lush treetops. The only things that missing are hammocks. This is my second visit at the winery and I still do really enjoy this place. There are plenty of tables for seating indoors both upstairs and downstairs so you could distance yourself from others. It is beautiful and has some lovely wine and beer options and the service is great. You order your drinks and food at the bar and food is brought to your table after seating. This was my first time trying their food and I have to say it was okay. It was obvious the pizza served to us was a frozen pizza, but the sandwich wasn't too bad. Just a basic chicken sandwich with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a mayonnaise spread. Although, I have heard that some of their dips and appetizers are good so maybe I just picked the wrong items. We were traveling to Boston, MA to drop our daughter off for school. I said that I'd like to visit a winery in every single state. So, I found this one and we stopped. Traveling here reminded me of visiting a winery that is out there. We arrived and not knowing anything. We went to the main stand after waiting in line. Stated what we wanted to sample and paid for it. We also were able to order food. The wines that we tried were all good. We ended up picking up a couple of bottles for home. If we were staying nearby and not traveling another 3-4 hours, I would have drank more. This was a good stop. I was doing what I do by taking a photo in front of the winery sign. I was doing the hawk stance of what I thought. A guy pulled up in a Tesla and said post this on Facebook. He introduced himself as the owner of the winery. One of my favorite wineries is Hawk Ridge. They offer 4 seasons of fantastic wine and fun spaces. I'm the winter you can cozy up in their building with the fire and the large main bar. During the warmer seasons you have the multiple outdoor spaces to add to the mix. You can bring you picnic gear and sprawl out on the lawn or jam out under the tent. If you can snag a spot on the porch you are guaranteed a panoramic view! They are one of the best food wineries I've been to. Each time I go I live in an internal debate of eggplant fries or a giant pretzel...the picture shows the winner of this trip lol. What an amazing winery with sn even more amazing view. We rented the gazebo for the day. It was cool and shaded on a really hot day. We hung out all day playing cornhole and just relaxing. The wine selection was superb. The cashier knew everything about each wine and made it easy for is to make our selection. They even had a few beer selections as well as soft drinks and water They offer food but we did not order. We brought our own for the day but next time we will definitely try the pizza. I know this is a CT favorite! I've been here often and it's usually the preferred winery for most of my friends and family. Great wine with beautiful views! They offer lots of options for food, so if you forget your spread you can still make do. They also offer beer from two local breweries, so you can even have something to sip if you don't like wine! I've been to Woodbury Brewing and I enjoy both the lager and sour that is available here! I love getting a tasting flight because I enjoy many of their wines, then getting a bottle if I'll be there a while. Kind and helpful staff. Attended an event .. Women United.. at Hawk Ridge Winery on 7/11/23. It was the first time I attended an event in their Pavilion. I have been their many times before as a regular patron. ti enjoy a relaxing afternoon/evening enjoying thei beautiful view, assorted wine varietals, and light fare. This was the first organized event I participated in. Between the event's organizers and Winery's very capable staff.. I was impressed with all that was provided to guests that evening. This is an averaged score. It was 4+ for the actual venue and facility but less than 2 for the extortionately overpriced sub-par wines. We were there for Mother's Day this past Sat with a bunch of family. Grounds and the building itself are beautiful (but VERY loud .. place was mobbed and the hardwood floors and high ceilings make it a racket inside). Counter service staff were super friendly, though .. couldn't have been nicer. Part that shocked me was .. the wine was just not good at all. And ridiculously expensive. All bottles over $30! Are they crazy? The merlot we got was $34! And it was terrible. Thin (no body, light in color), sour and somehow harsh all at the same time. The others who had the Rose in our group said it was thin and watery too. SO not impressed, but then again, most Connecticut wine sucks anyway. You go for the "winery experience". BIG rip-off here if you're actually going for the wine. read more

You'd never expect this beautiful little winery in the middle of a long road in Watertown, but there it is! My husband and I came here for our anniversary a few months ago for the first time. They have a nice selection of wines including sparkling (my favorite) and a few sangria-flavored wines (not with fruit) that were surprisingly good and still captured the sangria flavor. They also have a nice selection of snacks as well and we ordered the buffalo chicken dip which was delicious (could have eaten more if they had a bigger portion, too!) Only downside is they have basically no chairs unless you're on the deck (and, I guess, the tent?) It was a Thursday evening and not particularly busy when we went (though all the deck tables were taken) and we had to sit on the concrete retaining wall. 100% bring your own chairs!! Other wineries are a bit better about providing chairs. We came back a second time for our friend's birthday about a month or so later on a much busier Sunday afternoon. There's seating on the deck, in a tent, and on the sprawling grass area. We sat in the grass area and enjoyed the scenery. We brought our chairs this time! People were generally good about following covid restrictions (not gathering inside, waiting in line standing apart, masks, etc). Hawk Ridge also offers some wine slushy drinks and my friend had one and really enjoyed it. They're definitely creative with their selection. All in all, a nice spot to visit if you're in the area. This is one of my favorite vineyards in Connecticut. It is about a 45 minute drive from my house, and I would make this drive any day of the week! The Vineyard itself is absolutely beautiful, and the property is expensive and gorgeous. It's extremely clean and it sits up on a hill that overlooks the area. The wines are fantastic and I definitely recommend their rosé and any of their slushies. You can't have a bad glass of wine here. The inside is beautiful, and very spacious. What's nice is they also have lots of events here so you can enjoy the wine and treats while participating in event, or just sit in some of the Adirondack chairs and enjoy the scenery. read more
