At First, I was really confused on how to order anything because the menu wasn't a regular menu that I was used too. It was just a list of food so it took me a while to order anything! However, the food I ordered was DELICIOUS! It's a good thing I got a small order and not a big one, my meat was a little tough and took me forever to chew, but it was still good and freshly cooked for me! Parking lot is small too just like the shop, but I'm not a true regular here so I don't know how busy it gets, I came here on a weekday at night and it was dead, until I sat down and people starting pouring in! My keleguen was ok, pancit was also not that great very greasy. I really wanted to support this place but this is my second time with the same bad food experience. I don't know if it was a picture I saw on Facebook or something on Yelp, but I had a craving for Chicken Keleguen. For those unfamiliar with the Guamanian staple that is keleguen, please put that on your things to eat list. With my craving and hunger needing to be satisfied, I drove to Chamorro Grill with this singular purpose. Chamorro refers to indigenous people from the island of Guam. Guamanian food has many similarities to Hawaiian, Filipino, and Asian food. With the name Chamorro Grill, there is high expectation that you do Guamanian food right. Chamorro Grill is located east from Qualcomm Stadium, close to the Kaiser Permanente Zion Hospital. If you're heading east on Friar's Road after exiting the 15 freeway, make a left at Zion and a right into a strip mall where you will find Chamorro Grill. There is an islander vibe as you enter the restaurant with typical Hawaiian statues, pictures, and of course a surfboard. I really appreciated the various ethnic greetings that were standing in a corner of the restaurant: Hafa Adai, Mabuhay, and Aloha. There was also a sign hanging above a door that said Friends and Family Gather Here, which creates a welcoming atmosphere. The tables and chairs were spartan and simple. There is a large menu board detailing what you can order, but bring your reading glasses because it was hard to read. With my purpose of satisfying my chicken keleguen craving, I ordered the chicken keleguen plate. This plate comes with a good amount of chicken keleguen, 2 scoops of red rice, and a side of macaroni. Chicken keleguen and red rice are typical Guamanian food. You might be surprised that chicken keleguen is a cold dish of grilled chicken with onions, spices, and citrus seasoning. It's tangy and it comes chopped up. The star of this dish is the red rice. Honestly, 2 scoops are not enough because I wanted more of this carb. The chicken by itself was okay, but combined with the red rice just made it so much better. The rice has the right consistency, it's tasty, and by itself would be a good meal. Make sure to add the spicy sauce in squirt bottles to your rice and chicken, which it makes that much better. The macaroni was okay. I don't believe I've ever eaten chicken keleguen, so for my first time, Chamorro Grill made my first experience a delicious one. For less than $10, I would definitely order that again. On Chamorro Grill's menu, I noticed Loco Moco, Hawaiian BBQ, and Filipino dishes. If my positive experience with their chicken keleguen was any indication, I'll be bringing my family to try their other offerings. Give them a try folks. Mabuhay! read more

Ate here last night hoping to use my Groupon or whatever but I could not find it on my phone. Oh well, that just gives me an excuse to come back here which I definitely will. I went with the Island Style Chicken Bowl, two Chicken Kelaguin Musubis (with red rice), and a side of Kimchi Daigo. Hey, I was hungry. Everything was really good. When I got the chicken bowl, the chicken looked dry. Looks were deceiving. It had just enough sauce underneath to compliment the chicken. Red rice was good as was the kimchi. I had some left over and actually put it in a sandwich for lunch today which turned out tasty in itself. I also had the chance to try the shrimp patties which were also good, however they were too fried for my taste and I couldn't find the shrimp. Chamorro Grill is a little restaurant that serves Chamorro, Hawaiian, and Filipino food. I have never had Chamorro food before, so decided to give this place a try. I think it is better than L&L bbq, with similar portion sizes. I had the Kahlua pork with red rice. I also tried the latiya, pork adobo, pancit, and lumpia. All were good except I did not care for the red rice. It had a very smoky flavor that I did not like. I tried to cut the flavor with siracha, soy sauce, and the little sweet and sour sauce they serve you. I couldn't fix it and it was just bad. I'm not sure if that's what it is supposed to taste like. If so, I will pass on this in the future. I don't like my rice to taste like campfire. Kahlua pork was tasty. Shredded pork with cabbage mixed in. I would definitely order this again. The pork adobo was larger pieces of pork, that were marinated and tender. A bit salty, but very good. The pancit was very good. I usually don't care for this dish, I'm just very picky about it. I would actually recommend their version. The lumpia was a bit small. It was long and skinny with meat inside. Lastly, I had the Latiya for dessert. This is a slice of pound cake with a vanilla custard and cinnamon on top. The flavor reminded me of horchata in food form. It was surprisingly good. After trying this food for the first time, I would eat here again. Next time I will opt for white rice instead of red, and I would like to try some of their other dishes. read more

I honestly came here with the intentions to grab and go for some spam musubi. But instead I ordered the BBQ mix plate - selection of two proteins, two scoops of red/white rice, and a side. I ordered a combo of BBQ short ribs, shrimp fry (3 pieces of shrimp tempura, not the Japanese kind), kim chee daigo as my side, and two scoops of red rice (red from achoete). I enjoyed my meal thoroughly, but as a personal preference I wish the red rice had more garlic flavor. Maybe it's a Pinxy thing, but I loveeeee garlic! Didn't enjoy the food as much as I expected. A Chamorro friend of mine recommended it and I gave it a tryout. The meat was a bit dry and I can't say too much about that. Was told they cannot serve double short ribs on the combo plate??? For a lot of restaurants location will make or break the place. Chamorro Grill isn't in the best location for accessibility but it certainly doesn't matter. The food is always awesome and the portions are more than satisfying. They are in a small irregular shaped shopping center, so parking isn't the best but always a parking spot available near by. Nothing like trying to park downtown or in north park. The decor is Pacific Islander themed (naturally). With pea green walls a tv and tikis in the corner. The wooden tables seat four. The smells of the BBQ outside is masked by the smell of cleaning solution inside. Pungent at first but not overwhelming. Come in and give them a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

I've been craving Chamorro food since the PacIslander Fest last week...so good! I had an old daily deal thing for $22 that i had to use and today was the day to use it. We ordered 2 Fiesta combo platters with short ribs, chicken, beef, and pork ribs - came with with red rice, mac salad, pancit and ordered a side of chicken kelaguen. Don't judge me.....I swear it was only so I could spend the full $22! Swear... Overall, everything was just okay. The flavors were there, but the meats were dry and tough. I would say the chicken kelaguen and red rice were the best parts of the meal. Oh, and the chick at the counter looked like some cruel person dropped her off and left her to fend for herself and working the counter was the last choice she had. I used to live in Guam back in the 70's. Was craving some good Chamorro food. Chicken Kelaguen was ok. Where's the coconut? The red rice was ok, I've had better when I lived back in Guam. The portions could be a little bit bigger (you know, like Island style portions). Yeah the service is kind of slow, There were like two or three other people who were already seated. You place your order at the counter and give them your name and then they call you when your food is ready. Took me about 10-15 minutes to get my food. Yeah the counter girl was not very friendly or would even crack a smile. No take out menus were available. So makes it hard to place an order before you go. There are a lot of choices. The guys here are so great and friendly. They asked me about my Thanksgiving and made sure I got my food fast. Everything was extremely fresh. I tried the cucumber salad and it was delicious. I ordered a couple of plates from their booth at PIFA this year and it was just god-awful. The food was gross, and the "customer service" was even worse. I stood 30 minutes in line to order, just to wait in another line for 30 minutes to receive my food. The older Filipino lady taking orders had an attitude with me even after I put $5 in her tip jar. I am convinced the food wasn't made by Chamorros either. The red rice was flavorless and fache' (watery). It was inedible. The barbecue was burnt. Their "finadene" was just soy sauce and red chili flakes. They ran out of lumpia and daigo , but instead of telling anyone, they just replaced it with Gyoza. This place is shaddddyy, and they need to change their name because it is a misrepresentation of the Chamorro people. read more

Found this place by chance looking for dinner on a Sunday night. Got the spam and eggs. Place is clean, stylish and has an island feel to it.
