They were just as excited as I was about the dress!! I do want to note, the pricing here is different than average retail. It's a consignment store, there are sales and changing prices noted on the tags. There are signs posted everywhere at checkout saying they charge 3% for card transactions, plus Kirkland sales tax. I thought they were very reasonable and very honest with their pricing and gave me an itemized receipt! I would definitely recommend this shop for really nice quality vintage pieces. I made the terrible mistake today in thinking that a store that is supposed to be open by 10 AM would be open at a quarter till 11 AM.... I was stopping by to pickup my unsold consignment items as my contract has ended, and I let them know yesterday that I would stop by sometime today to pick it up, yet when I arrived at 10:45, I was shocked to find the door locked, the lights off, and no sign of employees... I even tried calling several times, and received no answer, and no way to leave a message to let them know I tried to stop by.... I have been to this store twice, once in 2005 where I purchased my wedding dress and once in 2022 where I purchased two prom dresses. I will be going again this weekend to help a friend find a wedding dress. I've had two great experiences and I'm hoping to have a 3rd soon. The shop had a lot of variety and great prices. We had a lot of fun trying on a bunch of dresses both times, to the point where we couldn't decide what to buy because there were so many awesome choices. Not going back. I hate to write this post, but I want to warn others not to go here and not to let smiling cashiers manipulate you. This was a bait and switch, not an overcharge. I saw a gorgeous red cashmere scarf, perfect for the holidays. The price marked on the scarf was $18. At checkout, the price changed to $38. I thought maybe I misread it, but she insisted and showed me the tag. which had a line like a 1, and a 3 over it. At the time? I shrugged it off. When home, I noticed my bank shows a $52.90 charge. I thought maybe it was in pending but the receipt says $52.90. At the time of checkout, the register did not show an amount, and the woman did not provide a detailed receipt. Ok, this is where I got angry: Even if this was legitimately legitimately $38, the sales tax at 10.3 % is under $4. That would be $42, not $52.90. NEVER AGAIN. I'll be talking to my bank today . Review as a shopper - huge consignment store. I was visiting Kirkland and wish I lived on the East side so I could visit more often. Organization is by color for most items except wedding/prom dresses. I found 5 items - worn 4/5 items. I'm starting with the obvious first. This is a consignment store. Rather you are a buyer or a seller, you need to remember this is a business trying to make a profit. I have sold and purchased from here. If you're a buyer: This store typically starts at 50% off retail, higher discount for some higher end brands. It's easy enough to look around and find good bargains that are additionally marked down, yielding easily 75% off. Obviously, inventory is quite random and all sales are final. Be sure to double check everything is clean and nothing broken. The owner, Tami, tries hard to avoid damaged goods in the store. Champagne Taste is most famous for dresses, everything from bridal gowns, formal wear, and casual dresses. Because Kirkland is a relatively well off neighborhood, you are very likely to find luxury brands, such as Escada, Gucci, and the like. You'll also find affordable brands like Loft and H&M, and brands in between such as Michael Kors. I often find shopping here like looking for Easter eggs, sometimes those eggs are golden. ;) If you're a seller: Tami, the owner, spells out the rules at the start via the contract. You must oblige by them. It is YOUR job, not the store's job, to pay attention to your pickup schedule (checks and clothing) which is once every two months. Always ask when she'll cycle out warm vs. cold weather clothing so you can pickup your clothing -- IF, you want them back. An important note, shoes are NOT returned. If you want them back, bring less, bring higher end shoes, and ask about them regularly. Be realistic about what money you expect to receive. Think about the discounts offered to make a sale mentioned above and the cut the store takes. Even going in conscientiously, it still has a pennies on the dollar feeling, but I remind myself that is the business they are in and the numbers are legitimate. read more

I used to be a patron of this store, and had bought a number of things from her. However, after my latest encounter with the owner, I have no interest in spending any of my money here. After recommending friends to buy wedding dresses & prom dresses here. I have never been treated so disrespectfully. Having worked with the private seamstress that is often recommended by this store. I lost her number when I changed phones and had decided to pop into the store to get that number again. Upon kindly asking the owner she refused to give it to me unless I bought something from her. Even though; I've previously purchased from her before. I said okay, I understand. It was definitely offensive and off putting, but it was what it was. However, I noticed she gave it to the lady who was leaving the store. So once outside I asked her for if it would be alright if she gave it to me and she was like of course. As she was doing that the owner literally CHASED outside to catch up with us and yell at her and I not to give it to me. It was incredibly uncomfortable and unhinged. It caught me off guard and kind of scared me because I can't imagine why it would be such an issue to put be back in contact with the seamstress. Especially, enough to chase someone outside. I remember the seamstress who I really got along with, told me to give her a call if I never needed any future projects. I will also note that the seamstress is not even an employee of this store. She is her own private business. I have never been treated so aggressively. I will never come here again. My friend who was with me was left in shock and disbelief at the unwarranted rage. I'm grateful to now know how this owner conducts business, so I never recommend or give her another dime. read more

The reviews on here confuse me in more than one way. How can this place get such high reviews? Do they or do they not sell used gowns? This was listed under bridal boutique? We got here, parked and immediately realized this place is a consignment shop. So, they do sell used gowns/goods. We decided to give it a try for fun, and check out what kinds of kitschy things we could find. The store is hard to navigate, and I'm not entirely sure there's a method to the madness in this place. There is stuff everywhere, and there is some weird stuff in here, and not always at "used" prices. We found the area where the bridal gowns were kept by accident... honestly I think by that point we had moved beyond taking them seriously. The gowns were all in plastic bags, so we had to flip out the dresses to find them. A lady in a light blue zip up hoodie told reminded us about wedding gown sizing but then proceeded to let us know that some dresses were true to size. I flipped though one section of dresses, some were definitely eclectic while others still had other store's price tags on them while others had no price tags at all. Seriously? Wait, who was that woman in the hoodie? We made our way out through the maze of oddities, and noticed the lady in the hoodie was behind the register. Oh! She works here! Say yes to the dress at Champagne Taste! Fabulous, thoughtful and well organized gowns in excellent condition. Highly ranked on Angie's List and The Knot. There is a raised platform and extra lighting and mirrors in the back so that you may get a 360 view of the dress and how you look. This is such a low pressure way to shop...bring your mom or BFF and they can hang out in the chairs while you slip in and out of dresses. I've often come here looking for designer bags and work clothes, but this visit I was looking for something to say "I do" and I found it. The price range of gowns is anywhere from $400 and up. Many sizes and the selection changes frequently. I bought a dress that was designed in New York, and made it's way all the way to Seattle and now it's in my closet for less than half of retail. DEAL! I have consigned/shopped at Champagne Taste since the 90s. Always had a wonderful experience. Took a huge haul in to the store to be sold before Covid. Went back when the store was re-opened and was told it had been too long to receive any payment & that all of my items had been donated. When I took my clothing & accessories in to the store it was such a large drop off, the owner said that she would put it out seasonally. It was the worst feeling. Owner did not care in the least. Extremely disappointed and was treated so poorly. Just want to make people aware. I would hate this to happen to anyone else! read more

In a nutshell. These people are crooks. I took 12 pairs of shoes and boots for consignment. I decided to go back one week later, just to check and I couldn't find any of my items in the mess on the floor where the shoes were. I thought, wow, all my shoes sold that quickly. I went to the manger to check on my account and she told me that I had no sales so far. When I inquired where my shoes were, she told me after a while they donate items to charity. I was furious because I knew this was a scam. I said no one gives to charity after 7 days, I told her I believe she kept my shoes for personal use and that she should be ashamed of herself. First she felt the need to explain to me how she sells gowns for east coast suppliers all the time and a bunch of other stuff that had nothing to do with my question. Walked into the store on a Sunday (I was literally the ONLY patron in the establishment) the sales clerk saw me, and did not once acknowledge my presence with a greeting of 'hello' or let alone "May I help you". At which after being in the boutique for about 10 minutes I purposely walked within one foot of her at the counter to look at accessories (which I was not interested in) just to force an acknowledgement as it would be beyond obvious and rude not to oblige one. But even so, *crickets*. I can see if this place was busy, but their overpriced second hand clothing was not being admired by a single soul. I felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman when she went into a story to drop $$ but instead was looked down upon, and so she went to another and splurged. "Big Mistake. BIG mistake. HUGE....." lol. Eek! Me thinks not! Champagne Taste is not a place I recommend doing business with. This place is unorganized and overpriced when it comes to selling used clothing. Yelp shows this as a store that is "Wheelchair Accessible". If you are in a wheelchair, don't expect to touch anything. You'll never get through any of the racks and all the stuff on the floor. Oh, and good luck trying to turn around and get out once you're in. The people severely lack in customer service skills. I've been in there a couple of times and the women who work there are older and snobbish. The owner lets her mini dog walk on the sales counter while doing business, so the dog is pretty much has it's face or ass in your face. If you want to try to sell your clothes there, it is not worth the energy. As another Yelp writer wrote, it is a pain in the ass. You have to call them every month during a specific time to see if your item(s) sold. Twice I called, and they told me to call back in a month because they "weren't organized" enough to give me an answer. They keep their records on index cards, and on scraps of binder paper. If you have items to sell that are in good condition, there are places that will buy your things up front, like Buffalo Exchange, and the Red Light in Seattle. I'm surprised by all the negative reviews. I went here with two friends and my teenage daughter, all of us in need of formal dresses for an event. We all found dresses, at good prices, and got plenty of help from the staff. I also found a fantastic purse to go with it. I consigned my wedding dress with them, which unfortunately did not sell, but they were very nice about it, gave it extra time to sell, and then calling me to pick it up. I have been selling my things here for about 1 year now. It sometimes takes awhile to sell but the owner will be realistic with you and let you know whether to keep them in consignment longer or not. So far she sold 5 out of 10 things so I will keep coming back. I have yet to buy something there and I am looking for a few bags and jewelry so browse every time I go in. She has good stuff. I am not giving her 5 star and the reason is that I would like to see them purchase and use a software to keep track of peoples accounts. It takes a long time to find account details and items. It helps to keep your paper but if you lose it (totally possible), it is even harder. read more

Many years ago, when Champagne Taste was a much larger (and better organized) boutique, I consigned with them and had a positive experience. Following a major health challenge last year, I decided to consign the designer clothing and accessories that I could no longer wear. My experience this time with Champagne Taste was 100% disappointing. Thankfully, I had kept an inventory list and photos of my consignment items. A number of high end items went missing and I was told "probably stolen...it happens all of the time", but she said she would send me a check, even though they weren't responsible. It took multiple reminder phone calls and weeks to receive a check for a few dollars. Never again will I consign here or recommend it to friends. There are so many outstanding online consignment businesses to consider, or better yet, just donate! read more

Popped in with a friend to browse around and spotted this stunning pink dress on a mannequin. Asked to try it on to which the lady working there sniffed, "No... it's too small for you and it costs $5000." I don't care that you have had broken zippers before. Where do you get off so blatantly pointing out another woman's size and humiliating her by not even allowing her into the dressing room? Joke's on her; I could've bought more than two of those dresses and all she's ending up with is a bad Yelp review and this story out there for all to see. Despicable! I left clothes for consignment and got a call that they were sold for $70 and since to that store you are just a number and they don't put your address on the contract form and you only can rely on the honesty of the store owner to send money to you to the address that you gave them on the phone when you called and found out that your stuff was sold. They never mailed a check to me and claimed that I didn't give them the address. Not only they profited from selling my clothes, they actually stoop so low as stealing the check by never mailing to me and claiming that the didn't get the address. This review is in regard to the consignment experience -- I had a few pieces of clothing which were brand new and in good condition so I thought I give consignment a try. I visited a few places to understand consignment contract and what the payout structure look like as this is my first experience consigning articles of clothing. I decided on Champagne Taste because I thought their store accepts a wide variety of clothing and pay seem reasonable. At the end of the day, they were able to sell 30% of what I gave them. But trying to pick up the payout check or unsold clothing items was a nightmare! The process is so complicated!! They do not make things easy for you! They have stipulations only to make their life easier but complicated for you. You can only call between the 10th and 20th of the month. You cannot call every month. You can't call on Sundays. You have to give them 1 day notice if you want to pick up clothes. They won't serve you if they have buying customers in the store. They charge you if you want them to mail you the check.... and on and on and on.... There are so much limitations that this really requires way more attention than what you actually get back. It took me 4 month to finally get my check and the unsold items back. In my opinion, the consignment customers should receive the same amount, if not more, of customer service attention because these customers are the patrons that actually provides the inventory for your store. Through this experience, I don't think it's worth it. I much rather just give my things to Goodwill. read more

I went in to sell my wedding dress, which was $3600.00 brand new. They told me the style was outdated, and that they all ready had several gowns that looked like mine. Bull. It sold for $600.00. So off the bat, I could have done better on Craig's list of Ebay. Second, I have called several times, and the sales staff is bothered that I have called, and I can only ask about my sold item between the 10th - 20th, and you can't get paid out at all in Feburary or August, or on a Sunday... what the heck! What kind of business is this??? The first time I called, it was on the 13th of Feb, and the sales lady was so rude, and told me that if I had read my contract properly, then she wouldn't need to explain to me over the phone how the sales are wrapped up. I did ready my contract... I write contracts for a living thank you very much. I did everything the contract said to do, but I happened to call the day before Valentine's day, and it pissed her off. They end of keeping 50% of the sold price anyway, so, learn for me and sell your dress on your own. read more

I certainly give them five stars across the board for excellent customer service, selection, and price. I went into the store hoping to buy an evening gown. I ended up buying a gown, plus two leather jackets and a cashmere sweater. All top-brand & gently used at great prices. The sales person was extremely helpful, and even showed me a gown that she thought I might like that hadn't been put on the rack yet. Just went into this store on Saturday to look for a few new things. The women working said they were in desperate need of fall clothing and bags. I said great....I will bring them in. Brought clothes and bags into the store this morning. The incredibly rude woman manning the front desk told me the earliest she could look at my things was 11/21! Come on...really? Why not tell potential customers that you have to make an appointment? Why say you want fall clothing and bags if you won't even look at them until almost the end of November. Ridiculous. I had an amazing experience in here today. I came in needing a wedding gown at the last minute due to an alterations disaster at another store. The owner was so kind. I had no one with me so she helped me in and out of gowns, picked out accessories for me and made me feel very comfortable. I had little to no hope of finding something but I found a gown that fit perfectly off the rack, a hair clip and a necklace, all for a very reasonable price. Is their taste too expensive to give good service? My fiance and I were casually walking around town after luch when I ran into Champagne Taste and wow did they leave a bad taste in my mouth. I was looking for a bridal outfit, a 1950's throwback, or something along those lines for an up coming photo shoot. I found a few things that were a bit pricey, but worth trying on. However, with nobody in the store other than myself, my fiance and the lady at front, it could not have been made more clear are presence was not welcome. I'm talking Pretty Woman here. I have never been made so uncomfortable as a potential customer. I thought this was a consignment shop in Kirkland, Wa...not Rodeo Drive. The dressing rooms were pretty small, and i felt like i was taking up more than my share of the store when i came out to look at the dresses and take pictures, but people seemed pretty forgiving and understanding. Really fun place to go in and browse as a shopper. I don't know how well the consigning works because I haven't done it-- my viewpoint is as a shopper only. I imagine that they are pretty stringent with their selections because it is a very high-quality store. The staff are not super-friendly, but I didn't find them rude, either. They basically come over as people who work in the world of high fashion- a bit brusque, but not offensive.
