Spicy beef & warm coco bread on the go
    Amanda G.

Champion has always been a staple for my family's Jamaican specialties needs. We would frequent this bakery for duck and hard dough breads, as well as bun and cheese, and always for their patties. Any time we had a special event, we would get a large order of cocktail patties and they always came in clutch. In recent years their cocktail patties have been skimpy in the fillings but the regular patties are still on point. If I'm ever in the area, I will stop by and get a spicy beef patty with coco bread, the perfect street food and ready to eat on the go. The filling is great. It's spicy and packed with seasonings and yummy beef. The outer crust is flaky and the perfect thickness. Their coco bread is always warm and a perfect vessel to envelop the patty as a great little snack to gave while on the road. We stopped by because I was down the block at a neighboring store. Parking out front is always hectic. You're likely better getting something down the block or around the corner. Just about everyone double parks so if you do grab a legit spot, be prepared to wait for someone to move their car from blocking yours. When you enter, keep track of who is last on line. Everyone skips and the staff doesn't really take notice as to who might have come in first so you just need to be assertive and make sure your not skipped because the customers don't care and neither does the staff. Your best bet is to hover by the central cash register and try and grab someone's attention who is free. A beef patty and coco bread will run you about five bucks. The inflation is crazy nowadays. It's still worth it and it will fill you up until your next meal.

Authentic beef patty spot with a lot of bread choices. The beef patty was good but I liked the chicken patty better. The coco bread was good too. They had a good variety of Jamaican drinks as well. The beef Pattie's are $3.50 each. Good amount of meat in them and flaky crust.

Great beef patties. Getting coco bread with the beef patties is a MUST. If you haven't tried coco bread you're truly missing out.

Bread, cookies, and pastries are all showcased and it smells great. If you go during the afternoon during the week it won't be as crowded as it can get on the weekend. Everything here is terrific. Whenever I'm in the area I'll bring home a pound of assorted Italian cookies, I'll also grab rainbow cookies and cannolis. Their cannolis are terrific, some of the best in NY. Yes, NY, not just NYC. I think what makes their cannoli stand out amongst some of the best is their shell. It's always fresh and crispy. Their filling is a little more vanilla forward compared to other NY institutions version of the cannoli, so keep that in mind when trying one. I'll put it to you this way, if you like Italian pastries, especially cannolis make this place a destination to visit, give them a try and see how it ranks up compared to your favorites. And while you're there, take in the rest of Arthur Ave! Oh, I almost forgot. They have what my husband says are the best savoiardi cookies in the state. They're always fresh, soft, slightly chewy in the middle with a delicately crispy exterior. They're to die for with a hot cup of coffee.

The customer service, the cake, & the taste was all the same as what it was before. AMAZING! I got the fresh strawberry shortcake with crackers all around for a friend's birthday. I was able to get the bakery to write on the cake and buy candles for the cake as well. They boxed it up for me nicely and safely so the cake wouldn't mess up. When I brought the cake to the party it was the main attraction at the end of the night. The cake was sliced and served. Once the guest had that first bite they were taken aback at how BOMB the cake was! They said it was the perfect kind of sweet. Not overly sweet like other cakes and how it tasted so fresh and delicious. Awww man I need you to experience it for yourself! This cake in particular has me in a chokehold! Their other pastries also look equally amazing on display. COME TO ARTUSO!

As soon as you step inside, you're taken by how large and how clean Artuso is. It is very well lit, and all of these things make it very easy for you to focus on those glass cases full of sweets. Their selection is extremely large and contains all that you would expect (biscotti, rainbow cookies, b&w's, pignolis, etc) as well as Italian ice and various other treats. The line moved fast, and the workers were extremely helpful as we ordered our rainbow cookies and pignoli cookies with cannoli cream. The pignoli were great...they had that signature almond taste, just right. Very enjoyable. And the cannoli cream center was a nice touch, and very good as well. The rainbow cookies were ok. Admittedly, I have a very high bar for rainbows, so I hold them to a high standard...and they were good, just not as flavorful/almondy as I particularly prefer. In all, Artuso is a great stop. A perfect post lunch/dinner spot to grab a quick snack to cap off a meal. Definitely check it out.

Not only is the owner the incredibly talented baker who was featured on a cooking show for making one of the best sfogliatella, but he's taken this classic Italian pastry to a whole new level. Imagine perfectly flaky, buttery layers filled with a rich, silky Nutella mousse, dipped in chocolate, topped with a dollop of mousse and a cherry, then finished with a dusting of powdered sugar.
