They did not communicate with me. Were a no show for three appointments. That is 100% on them. I am over three weeks in and pool still isn't fixed. They have had the pump for over a week now. Champion Pool was assigned to repair our pool pump by Choice Home Warranty on August 29, 2024. They later inspected the pump, determined it needed a new pump. For the next 3 weeks they did not show up for three confirmed appointments wasting 24 hours of my time. After 4 weeks without a pump they would not answer the phone, return texts or VM's. Then on 9/26/24 Champion Pool Service texted and said they were arriving on a day they knew we were out of town. Arriving home I found they had replaced the pump with a USED Pump that was seized and unusable. It would not turn. They reset my Aqualink system out of "service mode", back to normal so the seized motor would attempt to run for 8 hours a day. Using Electricity and creating a possible fire hazard. POOL SERVICE TECH LIED TO MY WARRANTY COMPANY - I was having problems with my pool heater not working. The warranty company sent out a tech from Champion Pool Service. He told me that my pool was not sending enough water to the pool heater for it to work properly. He told me to buy new filters and it should work. I bought the filters and the heater still did not work. So I tried and tried to get a hold of Champion Pools. I left several recorded messages (They don't talk directly to their home warranty customers. They send them to voicemail.) I then called the warrant company and they told me that they received a report from Champion Pools saying that the heater had prior damage from rodents and they denied my coverage. The pool service tech said NOTHING about any damage. In fact, he said he did NOT find any damage and that it was the pool filters causing the problem. Basically, the tech filed a report that lied about the problem so that my claim would be denied. He sent photos to the warranty company that showed NO DAMAGE. So I paid $85 to have a Champion Pool Service Tech come to my home to lie the warranty company so that my claim would be denied. Champion Pool was assigned to my home warranty service request on 7-25-24. Scheduled to appear on 8-1-24, i was on vacation. Repairs were approved on 8-5-24, repairs made on 8-7-24. replaced salt cell & new timer dials. i was still out of town. I returned on afternoon of 8-12-24 to find the salt cell doing a wonderful job but the timers had obviously been running continuously for days. I called and spoke to a manager on 8-15-24, explaining to him the issue with the timer., which he was very reluctant to offer anything. Finally. he agreed to replace the timer. 8-21-24 i received an email that said my job required a follow up, so i waited....... 9/10/24 i called again, was told the issue was intermittent , no failure on site, unable to proceed and closed job. The new timers were not keeping correct time, it would lose several hours a day and would not shut off. I called again on 9/12/24, new timers were replaced, are working as expected, however, on this repair the technician did something to cause the pool pump not to pump as it was, not pumping enough water thru the salt cell for it to function ( no flow reported). pool has been green for over 2 weeks due Champion Pool creating this malfunction. I have called twice to Champion Pool and they never answer the phone, left 2 messages 9-19/24 & 9-20-24. no reply yet?? today is 9-23-24 i called my home warranty company 9-23-24, paid another $85 service fee as it has been over 30 days, requested a new company to inspect and reported Champion to them with all details. If your home warranty assigns Champion Pool to do your repair, call immediately and try to get the repair assigned to a reputable company! They have a special phone extension for home warranty repairs so you can leave a message for Jennifer, but don't expect to ever get a call back. They don't return those calls apparently, based on my experience and the list of others posting the same thing. No one would knowingly choose to work with them after reading their reviews and speaking with them directly. They have taken now 3 months to try to fix a simple pool pump, and the situation is worse than when we started. After multiple trips (and failing to even show up for several appointments) they ran out of excuses. Several times when they did show up they claimed everything was working after putting in minimal effort. None of those "fixes" lasted even 24 hours. When we finally got them to put in a new pump motor, the tech said he had made a mistake and had to rewire the pump to get it working, but now none of the other pool equipment had power. He apologized and claimed that someone would be back quickly to get it repaired. When I call Champion a week later to check on the repair, I spoke with John who became very hostile. He seemed to get these types of calls a lot. John said that we needed to call an electrician now because the tech couldn't fix his mistake. The home warranty required Champion to go back and at least take a look before sending an electrician. Champion of course never showed for their appointment but told the home warranty company that it was a preexisting power surge that caused the issue initially. Well, several of their techs had all come out and said it was working fine when they left, so how could it be per-existing? They are one of the worst pool companies that I have ever worked with to the point that I told the home warranty to ban them to service any of my properties. They are not professionals from their manager to their technician. In august 2024, they went to my rental and diagnose a chlorinator that was leaking as broken and sent me a $300 invoice to change it. I went there and chlorinator was loose so I hand tighted and problem fixed(15seconds). I called John and he said that human makes mistakes..no.apologies. One month later(september) they got a service order to service other one of my properties as my pool timer was not working...they went to a WRONG address and they diagnosed that a brandnew timer on this visited property needs to be repaired and changed...I called again and asked John how a brandnew timer that is working can be diagnozed as needs to be changed? Had them out twice to determine an issue with my pump. They were unable to figure out an issue and only wanted to upsell me to buy a new pump and filter. What little "maintenance" they performed just made the pool operate worse. The service manager was extremely rude and condescending and didn't want to listen to anything I had to say. We had this company assigned to us via our home warranty company. Let me say this is not our first pool to have, we have had pools at our homes for 25 years and my husband and I both grew up with pools. We both are pretty familiar with most all of the equipment, and truly tried to work with this company. The issue had been our heater. We begin this insane journey with Champion Pool Service on November 20, about 2 1/2 months ago. To get on their schedule is no easy feat. This usually took about a week sometimes less, but just because you're on their schedule DOES NOT mean they show up. The technicians run out of daylight quite frequently which usually results in a few more delay in arrival. The technicians also seem to have issues if rain is in the forecast. I'm not advocating for unsafe working conditions at all. If it is pouring buckets, it would be hard to diagnose a pool problem. But, we live in Texas and the forecast is not indicative of the reality in all of DFW. This company has replaced 4 parts in this time frame to no positive results. The last request was to have our gas company check our gas line to see if our line and meter had enough pressure and were functioning properly. We had the gas company come out and a plumber to check the lines for pressure, leaks and a fully functioning meter. The meter and the lines at the house and at the heater were working perfectly and the pressure was above what we needed for our whole house pool, spa and outside house. Gas is not the issue. This company should truly evaluate their communication skills and protocol system. Leaving voice messages, texting them, emailing them and actually talking to someone does not get you a response. I have left messages with the service manager, whom I was told had a family emergency, which is understandable, but please assign your duties to a co-worker if you're unable to assist your customers. I was told that my pool equipment issue was not considered an emergency and hence the no response. The level of professionalism the staff has stops before you say hello. They have laughed at me on the phone, raised their voice, been rude and do not do what they say they are going to do. DFW is a big area and there are a lot of companies in this area. We have dealt with ALOT and I have never been treated like this and dealt with such an unprofessional company. I have no idea how they stay in business or why they do, because it is obvious they do not care nor do they intend to get to the bottom of the issue. I asked for a second opinion and they sent Champion Pool Service. They determined the first company was wrong in their assessment of the problem. BEWARE Well, unfortunately this review needs to be posted. This company is very corrupt. I hired Champion Pool Services to manage my pool needs. Following the hire I went out of town for 2 weeks. This company was aware I would be out of state, and they were to manage the pool while I was away. I returned to a pool full of algae, mud and leaves. When I called the company regarding the issues I was told it was because it was "windy" outside. Not so, there was too much in the pool to be anything but neglect. I left the owner, Jerry a voicemail stating I wanted to cancel my service immediately, and to forward my final bill. I did not receive a return phone call. I sent a follow up email to the owner and the billing person stating in writing that I wanted to discontinue services. I did not receive a response. The following week my neighbor called me saying the pool service tech came to my home and was in my pool area. When I realized this, I immediately contacted Jerry, and left a voicemail stating the service was cancelled and I would not be paying for any further services. I did not receive a return call. The following week after that my neighbor called AGAIN to say there was a pool person in my yard attempting to clean. I asked her to tell the man to leave my yard, and he called me asking what was going on. I explained that I had cancelled my service both verbally and in writing weeks ago. He seemed confused, and asked what he should do. I told him to Stop - and to not come back. I then had to leave a very aggressive voicemail to Jerry saying I would seek legal action if they returned. I paid my final bill, and thought my Champion Pool issues were over. It is now 3 months later, and I have a collection agency contacting. Apparently, Jerry at Champion Pool Service sent me to collections for non payment for the Month following the service that I had cancelled. I've never dealt with this type of thing before, and I am shocked at the low level of professionalism in all areas with this company. BEWARE - this company is very unethical. BUYER BEWARE-Nightmare Pool Experience- There is no way I will be able to express fully how unimaginable our experience was/ is with Champion Pools. It would literally be a novel! I will add too that I do not write reviews often unless the service is great. I cannot remember ever having to write a bad review. However, if we can keep one single person from choosing Champion, then my review is beneficial. We started out February 2021 to have a new pool built. We had considered for years putting in a pool and were finally ready to build. We chose Champion after meeting with several other companies because they were so attentive and helpful initially and since they were just beginning this side of their business, they could start us sooner. The estimate they provided for us was mid-range of the companies we had talked to so overall we felt they were the best choice. We have never been so wrong in all the choices we have made. From the very beginning, there was disorganization, a huge lack of communication (nonexistent most of the time unless we reached out), frequent turnover of staff including construction supervisors (CS), no show, no call, and people who absolutely have no idea about pool construction figuring it out as they went. At one point, after paying one of our draws, we had a subcontractor for the gunite show up at our house needing to collect from us because they had not been paid. He said if they did not receive payment soon, a lien would be placed on our home. We were told that the person who they hired to manage the subs ran off with all the money. That was about the 10th red flag. But we were already invested and committed. The red flags just continued. Problems started all the way back to when they dug the hole- many issues all the way to start up that the word limit on here won't allow me to explain. 3 days after filling the pool with water we noticed major cracking and shifting of the deck/ pool. The coping sat above the deck. In addition to this, they filled the pool with water but did not start the main pump or give us any instruction or supplies for 2 weeks- the water turned green, and the plaster was compromised. We mentioned these problems to the CS who seemed concerned about the issues and said he would get them resolved. He would bad mouth the owner of the company to us when things weren't happening. We were trying to be patient as he confirmed there was definitely an issue and was taking care of it. He had the concrete crew come out, who put liquid nail in the cracks and painted what looked like house paint on the deck! (Which began to peel in about a week) Meanwhile, we noticed that there was a large area around the perimeter of the pool that was wet and kept getting wetter and we were having to add water to the pool daily to keep the water level up. Again, we mentioned this to CS who acted concerned- had the plumbing checked and then concluded it was not the pool but some underground issue affecting the pool and the deck. On December 21 we received by certified mail, an affidavit from Champion stating they were done with construction of the pool and we had 14 days to find where the water was coming from or they would void all warranties AS IT was the cause of the deck/ pool issues. We hired multiple people to check issues at our property including septic service, drainage specialist, plumber, sprinkler company and finally another pool company to check for leaks. All was good EXCEPT THERE WAS A MAJOR STRUCTURAL LEAK in the side of the pool. Would you believe that even after we informed Champion of the problem, they never apologized nor resolved the issues with the deck being cracked/ shifted, coping pieces broken. In the meantime, we have been in an endless email exchange with the owner of the company, Jerry- who says he will do something, then altogether doesn't respond anymore. No integrity! We have paid other contractors to fix the leak and remove and replace the deck and now next to fix the coping. We will have to live with the plaster as it is all so expensive to do twice! read more
