We were given a timeline of a month or two on completing our pool on December 2021. That included coping, tile and plaster. Tile was pre-paid, coping was selected and contract was signed. There were some issues with setting and managing expectations up front but in the end, we are happy with the final product. It is 4/28/22 and pool coping, tile and plaster are complete. We had a 4 month wait and it took 1 month to get the job done. There were a few unexpected expenses during the project but that is to be expected for a project like this. By the time the project was complete we ended up paying roughly 20% more than the quoted amount. Also, we had to choose different coping as the one we originally chose was no longer available due to supply chain issues. There are a lot of shortages going on right now. Workers and supplies. This is not a fault of Blue Escapes, these are just the times now and unfortunately, we along with Blue Escapes were caught in it. This along with price hikes on everything (plaster, tile, etc.) which we weren't charged extra for. Blue Escapes uses quality workers. Watching them lay the tile and take their time with each tile they laid just solidified why it takes a while to complete these remodels. The owner is an honest man who is a wealth of knowledge. I have been using Blue Escapes for decades and it is about time I got around to writing this. These guys are pros. The very first time I called them, which was on a Saturday for a pool heater emergency, they showed up and explained to me in great detail why fixing my existing heater was a waste of money and actually got a new heater installed that day. They are reliable, friendly and very knowledgeable and if they tell you something, you can take it to the bank, PLUS it gets done correctly every time. read more

This company used to be called Blue Horizons. Look at the Yelp reviews there, not good. Service was unsatisfactory. Technician would often not show up or complete work when he did. We were taken advantage of, charged for extra cleanings due to their tech not showing up. I am now hiring another pool company to clean up and fix the mess they made of our pool. I will also echo what the previous reviewer said, the woman that handles scheduling is very rude and unhelpful. She repeatedly insinuated we were at fault for everything wrong with the pool and refused to acknowledge the problems we had with the tech. After being charged extra for a full month of "extra cleanings", which did nothing to fix the problems caused by their poor service to begin with, I brought in highly recommended pool company for their advice and quote on fixing the issue. They diagnosed the problem as black algae, and no amount of extra cleanings or chemicals would fix the problem. The pool has to now be drained and acid washed. When I went back to Blue Escapes and informed them of the black algae issue, they denied the problem and said it was "algae staining" and recommended further expensive repairs and extra cleanings. I needed a pool contractor so searched the reviews. Blue Escapes Pool had a good rating and I figured I'd give them a try. I went to their web page on Sunday 6/6/21 and sent an email letting them know what I needed. 1) clean filter and salt cell. 2) have tech review water flow to see if it was flowing properly. I received an automated message advising I would hear from someone in 24 hours. Early Monday morning I received the following email, "Hi Paul, We can get you scheduled for a equipment diagnosis on Monday, 6/21. The fee for this will be $75.00. Filter clean -$150.00 Salt Cell Clean - $75.00 I can get both scheduled for this Wednesday, June 9th. Please let me know if you would like to get this set up. Thanks, Karmeshia " I replied back within the hour, "Hello. Let's set up the filter and salt cell cleaning. I did a backwash this weekend and that helped a lot.  If there are still issues after we clean the salt cell and filter I will let you know. " I didn't hear anything else from BEPS the rest of the day. I did, however, hear from another pool contractor that I had also reached out to advising they could come later in the week. I let them know BEPS had already booked the job earlier in the day. The next morning, 24 hours after I confirmed the appointment I receive a phone call and the following email, "Hi Paul, I just left you a voicemail to let you know that I got you scheduled for next Monday, 6/14. Technician will call you 30 minutes prior to arrival.  Please call the office at 972-294-6950 to provide me with a Credit Card number to process your 50% payment for services. Thanks, Karmeshia " Now, 6/14 is a full five days later then when they told me they could arrive and now that they aren't going to arrive when they said they would they want me to pay 50% upfront. VERY SHADY and poor customer service. I replied, "Hello. Your original email advised you were available 6/9.  I responded within the hour accepting that date.  Less than 24 hours later you want to move to next week and want a 50% deposit.  Doesn't sound like someone I want to do business with. I know you are busy and customer service probably doesn't matter but it does to me.  I will find someone else.  Thank you for letting me know.  I wish you well. " As I look back I see that every positive review (but one) is years old. There is only 1 within the last 12 months that is positive. So maybe back in the day this was a good company and someone with great customer service and did a good job. I can tell you first hand those days are gone. We had a leaking pool pump that caused a lot of ice on equipment during recent cold snap . The pool service company I had used knew about it and did nothing. We called and the owner said he would come to check, blew us off after 3 years. I searched for a new provider and decided to use Blue Escape. Leta was very helpful and sent Kevin the same day to help us. We installed a new pump that works more efficiently and is quiet. We also signed up for weekly maintenance service. Daryl worked very hard to get me a low cost solution to a waterfall pump replacement, making several trips to try and fix an obsolete model before finally installing a new pump that turned out to be perfect for my needs. Blue Escapes Pool and Spa is not your normal pool company! I consider myself an expert on pool companies because I have met close to a dozen pool companies! I had a very bad experience with the VIP Pools who re-plastered my pool a few years ago. I have had to hire a new company to correct VIP Pools issues. So hence, the parade of pool companies! Bob, the owner of Blue Escapes Pool and Spa, reviewed my pool with confidence and a high level of expertise. All the bids came in about the same price but it was Bob's approach that won me over. Once the work begun, Bob was over almost every day taking pictures of the progress and addressing with his crew any issues he saw. I have NEVER seen the amount of steps and detail related to pool repair, tile and stone replacement. Juan and his crew worked on the pool almost every day, most times working until dark. Most of their process was detail that is not seen in the final product but promotes durability - waterproofing at every step; visiting 5+ Stone Yards to find rock that did not flake away; brushing down the pool surface, applying an acid wash and final brush-down; replacing pool jets that were the wrong size; applying Deck-O-Seal after stone install. Then when done, they cleaned off my patio furniture and pool area, returning when the pool was filled with water to apply start-up chemicals and make sure the equipment worked correctly. They spent more time on the areas I was not paying them for to assure the end result was a beautifully updated pool that functions better than when they began their work! Another applause is on their communication: They leverage an on-line system in which daily status are sent to the client. And Leta, Bob's ever-efficient assistant, would call or Bob, knocking on my backdoor, with an update. I was always part of the process. If only you could see my new pool! It is a beautiful! Had internet pool heater installed. Service price was fair, installer was great - did a very nice job and follow-up. Only beef was an additional wiring harness was required that cost $140 which is probably double home depot cost. Something about warranty but honestly no one claims warranty on wiring harnesses. read more

I am revising this review because I recently used Blue Escape Pool and Spa again but this time I feel like I was being sold something that wasn't necessary. The tech suggested I buy a brand new motor that was variable speed instead of my single speed for nearly $1300. My current motor works fine but apparently it's not energy efficient. I get that we all want to save energy but unless it's part of the reason the pressure is high then I would prefer to wait to replace the motor and just address the issue at hand. I did call another pool company to come out and look at everything and he said the equipment was the appropriate size. He found a couple of leaky valves and did another filter cleaning and so far everything is working fine. So I guess I will now be using the new company instead of Blue Escape. But that's the wonderful thing about competition. It gives consumers plenty of options to change service providers whenever they feel their needs aren't being met. read more

We hired Blue Escapes to replace tile on our spa and regrout the inside. They had to remove the stone, replace the tile and regrout. The grout work on inside and out was substandard. We wanted to clean the grout in the pool and power wash the tiles. They poured acid on the tiles and power washed it. The next day the tiles had turned white. We contacted Bob, the owner, and he came out late the next day. He explained that this wasn't his fault, that this often happens after acid wash. I replied, Why didn't you inform me?, to which he said they never do. He wanted to come back the next day and try a few things. He said he would be here between 12 and 5. We waited and waited and he never came or gave us a phone call to explain that he couldn't make it. We found this to be totally unacceptable and I told him not to come back. I don't think he should have charged us for the tile fiasco. I want other people to be aware of this. I will never use him again. read more
