My 5 year old is having a blast at Ten Tigers. He loves it!…read more Sensei has a special gift working with kids. We are so happy and fortunate to have him as our Martial arts teacher for our son.

Reckless, irresponsible, chauvinist, ableist, and all around coward with the emotional intelligence…read moreof a child. Brought my 4 year old some here and at the time I thought it was a really martial arts studio taught by a real martial artist. Boy was I wrong. I guess anyone can open up a martial arts business and start handing out belts Willy nilly. Not only is Lincoln not actually trained in MMA (which is what he is attempting to teach), but this school isn't affiliated with any official martial arts organizations including any MMA organizations. But don't ask him any questions about why that is, because you will absolutely get your wrist slapped and then your child will inevitably be punished in one form or another. My son was in class grappling with another child, when the other kid knocked my child's TWO front teeth loose. Lincoln's response to this was literally a smile and then NOTHING more. As a former martial artist myself and as a parent, I would expect that he would take both kids aside to address how this happened and what kind of safety precautions they can take in the future to prevent future incidents like this. None of that happened, instead he immediately pushed us into the next age group (in order to separate us from the other family) with no warning or reason, not to mention my son wasn't even the right age for that group yet. Once we were moved to the new group (that just so happened to meet on different days and times as the previous group, completely disrupting our schedules and turning our lives upside down) that's when I really saw this place for the sham and charade that it is. Parents are dropping off their multiple children at 3 and leaving them there unsupervised until 6pm. Children of all ages from 6-17 years old. Complete and total chaos of about 10 - 25 unsupervised children literally running around, throwing things at each other, physically fighting and screaming, VAPING in the bathroom, and so much more, all while a "class" is in session. Lincoln has no interest in enforcing the discipline and respect elements of martial arts in this space and these parents are treating his space like a drop off birthday party. To add insult to injury, my carpooled with a friend's daughter there. She was under my care. She stepped out of class to pee, but didn't lock the door because she's five and was afraid she wouldn't be able to get out. While she was in there a fully grown teenage boy walked in on her, made eye contact, fully saw her, and THEN PROCEEDED TO WALK INTO THE BATHROOM AS OF SHE WASN'T THERE. I immediately got up and told him to get out. When I brought up this issue to Lincoln his response was to tell the kid, and I quote "c'mon dude. You know better than that." And then turned to me and said "she's so little, it's not really a big deal." I probably should have pulled my son right there and then, but I didn't want to take something away from him because the adult teaching it has NO RESPECT for little girls and women's bodies and right to privacy. Lincoln - Thank you for teaching us that we are still second class citizens to chauvinists like you and that we will always need to fight for our rights. But alas, I did not pull my son. It wasn't until the drug dealer problem became more than I could ignore and the safety of my children was now at risk. Since he doesn't offer parking, we have to find parking wherever we can (which is not easy). Many times we had to walk by a drug dealer that was doing his drugs, selling, and getting into very heated altercations with others. This became very scary and when I brought it to Lincoln's attention he brushed it off. I followed up asking him to maybe see if his landlord could possibly offer parking so that we can walk safely with our young children into his business to give him our money. His response to me was to tell me "you have no problem asking questions. You're the only one who complains. You don't have to park there." To which I responded "I actually do have to park there." As I was responding with those words he turned his back to be and waved his hand as if to dismiss me and my concerns. It was an incredibly rude thing to do, and very out of line of what someone modeling respectful behavior should be doing. For me that was the straw that broke the camels back. I WILL NOT have someone that my son looks up to and that I pay disrespecting me, especially in front of my children. Disrespectful, negligent, chauvinist, ableist, and complete and utter fraud as this man doesn't even have a black belt in jujitsu.... Yet somehow he's qualified to hand them out. Maybe I should open up a medical school and start handing out medical degrees... I'm sure I'd make a killing.

Tell the boomer folks there's a different kind of belt that's way more effective at teaching…read morediscipline and it's here with Master Sunmi and Master Kim. I drive my son here from the opposite end of the valley twice a week because they are worth every mile and minute. I am in awe every time I watch them teach these kids- whether it be a class of 2 or 20- with ease and unwavering patience. They are not here to take your money to turn your kid into Hwoarang. They are here to improve the whole child (and the whole community) by teaching and modeling respect, self vs group awareness, initiative to support others, and inner strength. They have met my kid in all his moods and learning challenges without judgement. And I've noticed it's not just with my kid. They treat every single kid there in the same way- not robotically, but with an abundance of compassion and an understanding of how much they can push a personality to strengthen without discouraging. I'm not being dramatic when I say- this place, these masters, they're the secret to humanity.
