Nice folks and the only restaurant beside fast food in the town. Chicken cordon bleu wrap was delicious. Chips, salad bar, sandwiches.

I think the outdoor…read moreseating would be nice on a cool day or evening and there is a playground right next door that I think belongs to the church. I ordered the half slab of ribs to try with the different BBQ sauces but I only tried the mild and the JByrds juice because I don't really care for sweet bbq sauce. The ribs come without sauce and they were cooked tender with just enough hold onto the bone for chewing. I'm a TEXAS girl with a strange taste for Sonny's bbq but it's nice to know there is a BBQ restaurant right near me in the small town of Roberta Ga. that I can get good ribs and I liked my chili cheese dog with onion as well. The chili seemed to have a sweet taste to it but I liked it. They have Coke products which is a plus if I choose to drink a soda and they also have sweet tea to represent the southern taste. I will definitely be back to check out the BBQ chicken and Brisket sometime soon. Nice to have a restaurant where I can watch carb intake by eating meat which I can make my own veggies to go with it at home. I wish it had a warmer atmosphere inside and a bit friendlier or should I say more outgoing when ordering. The prices are a bit high but they are everywhere so I will support this business and I'm glad they are here in our small town of Roberta.

Great food ! Always fresh and a lot of it is homegrown! Fair prices and great service with a smileread more

Nowadays, "home-made cooking" and "soul food" can be found pretty much everywhere. I would know -…read moreworking as a travel show host, I've done my share of eating at a wide variety of restaurants all across the U.S. Here at Lockett's Kuntry Cooking, I've not only found the best fried chicken in the entire country, but a true and authentic home-cooked meal. After we finished filming at a nearby Georgia Peach Farm, the owner of the farm strongly suggested that we stop at this restaurant for lunch. As we pulled up, the outside did not look promising. The shabby-looking building, weather-worn sign, and the general emptiness of Culloden, GA - a small city of 223 people - all seemed to suggest that we keep driving. Thank goodness we didn't. As the four of us walked in, a small but quaint one-room dining room came into view. There were about 10 or so tables, and a few locals enjoying their meals. The exposed brick walls warmly complemented the red and white pattern of picnic table covers; an eclectic collection of paintings and photos lined the walls; and a photo of Truett Cathy, posed next to a proud elderly woman could be seen. Our waitress, Jakayla, who will be entering the 5th grade soon, came and took our order. We ordered four waters and two diet cokes. We also ordered the lunch specials and other items from the menu on the wall, a series of hand-written, colorful poster boards. After writing down the orders, she ran to the kitchen to relay the orders to the cook who, in turn, scolded the young lady for not asking about and writing down the necessary details of the items ordered. Jakayla promptly came back to our table and sheepishly apologized, asking which condiments and veggies should be placed in my colleague's sandwich and cheeseburger. Soon, the drinks were at our table: two styrofoam cups with ice water, and two styrofoam cups with ice, along with two cans of diet coke. Last time I drank out of a styrofoam cup was at an outdoor food truck event. It's not too uncommon, so I didn't think much of it - although I thought it was a bit strange, since this was a sit-down restaurant. The Fried Chicken Lunch Combo, which my colleague ordered, was the first to hit the table: a breast and a wing, collard greens, and field peas with onions, all on styrofoam plates. Looking at the fried chicken, my opinion about this place started to change. I realized we were in for a treat. They were fried to golden perfection and smelled heavenly. Next item arrived at the table: the chicken sandwich. Now, when I say "chicken sandwich", you'd probably picture a chicken breast patty with veggies and condiments, neatly sandwiched between two buns. Instead a fried thigh and leg piece, still attached to each other, bone-in and all, were placed between two pieces of sliced bread. He had to take the bones out and re-sandwich them between the pieces to make it resemble a sandwich. This sounds ludicrous, but also delightful at the same time. There was no fancy accommodations here - and they weren't pretending either. This is the way their food had been served at this place for decades. It was delightful. My order arrived - perfectly fried pieces of leg and thigh, with collard greens and field peas with onions. Biting into the golden brown drumstick was truly an experience, as it had been the most flavorful, home-made, and so delicate at its simplest form. KFC may have its 13 secret spices or whatever - but this was truly the best fried chicken I've ever had: just perfectly crispy with juicy and flavorful insides, and a touch of grandma's care. It's a one-woman show in the kitchen. The cook, lovingly referred to by the locals as simply "Mama", came out of the kitchen to hang out with her customers. She's been cooking all her life, and had been doing what she knows and loves. At age 86, she says she doesn't plan on giving up anytime soon. After the meal, all four of us thanked Mama and her granddaughter Jakayla for a wonderful meal. My colleagues being avid photographers, took some wonderful photos of both of them for memories, of which I've uploaded a few. Some practicals: as you could imagine, this place is cash only. There's no reservations and the parking lot is very small. It gets very busy around holidays, and there aren't any convenient public transport nearby. Note the limited operating hours. There's absolutely no feasible reason to visit Culloden, GA - it's a small town in the middle of nowhere. However, if you're fortunate enough to be in the surrounding area, this place is an absolute must. Even those visiting Atlanta, it's a few hours' drive to this place but it would be 100% worth it and then some. Final word. This place absolutely and honestly lives up to phrases like "soul food" and "home-made cooking." For really, really good food, made by really, really good people, Locketts Kuntry Cooking is an absolute must.

I hate to say it, but I think they closed. "Closed" sign was up during lunch hours. Place looks…read moreneglected. Phone is "no longer in service". End of an era.
