Really yummy lobster mac & cheese. That's all I've had, but next time I visit, I'll get something else.

The waitress seemed really rushed and not even prioritizing new customers. We got water ...eventually...and our drinks took forever to come out. It was a coke and a ginger ale. It took 1.5 hours for our food to come out and only 3 dinners came out. Last dinner came out as the other 3 were finished which obviously wasn't fun for a family experience. We were originally going to get an appetizer and said absolutely not especially with the insane wait on a Wednesday. Also $50 for a "fisherman's platter" that wasn't anything above the norm especially the portion size. If you're up in Maine and looking for a seafood place I'd recommend try somewhere else and throw a recommendation out to our fellow tourists. read more

Second visit not as good as the first. The service was great and the outdoor seating was excellent. Really enjoyed the vibe. Unfortunately, the kitchen wasn't up to the job. Our food was 40+ minutes late. All of our food seemed rushed and ill prepared. My scallops tasted like they were boiled and thrown on the pasta rather than seared like the last time. Our server was great and followed up but the kitchen let her down. Drinks from the bar were.... weak. I could have ordered a soft drink for the same taste. We did get compt for dessert which were great and appreciated. I hope this was a bad night because our first trip was good enough to bring family to. They were disappointed as were we. I have been here a couple times. I love their food even though it is a tad bit pricing but the serving sizes are def worth it. The last time we were there we got strip clams and steamers and I got the tuna nachos. All was really great. The service was super friendly as well. Our waitress was nice. The paintings on the wall were creative and the tvs had little house on the prairie and sports so something different. We had the first drink bucket on the list which was yummy and a Pinot Grigio. I had the Florentine pasta with lobster added. I think the amount was light considering the up charge was $24. The sauce needed garlic but otherwise good. Hubs had a lobster roll Oob style and it and the homemade chips were very good. We had the blueberry pie and a flourless torte to go. Our server Sarah was AMAZING! She even provide us with a list of things to do while in the area - including some places on the water. My wife and I shared the lobster grilled cheese with basil aioli, Gouda cheese and tomato with a side of sweet potato fries. We also split an order of the Sea Salt Calamari with a spicy butter aioli, sweet peppers and Parmesan (absolutely HUGE portion. My wife also got a piece of homemade blueberry pie with ice cream to go. Everything was top notch. Between the two of us, we have enough leftovers for another whole meal for us to share. The food came quickly, everything is made in-house daily, the portions are enormous, drink menu was extensive with local beers and specialty cocktails, and the closed in outdoor patio was heated; perfect for a cool evening in late November. read more

Was looking for a seafood restaurant this side of Maine and this came up on Yelp. Didn't have much time to read the reviews, and just took a chance. First, our server was great and attentive and it wasn't busy late afternoon on a Sunday. But, for a seafood restaurant, it wasn't good. Clam chowder was okay, more broth than clams and potatoes, not creamy and had a sour taste. BF had the gumbo and enjoyed it and I had the seafood pasta... sauce was delicious, although capellini was overcooked, shrimps were tiny and the scallops were bad. I ate one scallop and it was very fishy, I thought I just had a bad one, so ate another piece and it was bad as well, one scallop was gray in color and I didn't finish my dish, garlic bread was good though! BF paid the bill while I was in the restroom and didn't have a chance to tell the server. When server came back with the card, I told her to let the kitchen know that the scallops were bad and she offered to take it off the bill or get free dessert, and that was really nice of her, but I said no, since I ate about half of my meal except the scallops and we were full. With that said, I don't think I'll come back here, since there are better seafood choices in Maine. 3 stars because service was great and gumbo was good. read more

Every time I go to visit family in Maine I have to have some fried food even though it's not good for me. Hey you gotta die of something. Seafood, what a way to go. I'm such a sucker for fried clams, scallops, and haddock, and I was starving. Driving through Old Orchard I saw a restaurant on a pretty large lot sitting on its own. It looked quite inviting so I went in. Modern yet casual place, exceedingly vibrant with a very courteous staff. I ordered food to go and they packed it all so wonderfully. I had to go eat this in my car where I could just savor every bite at my leisure. All I can say is what a perfect cut of haddock, incredibly thick and flaky, lightly battered, laid atop some hand cut, french fries, coupled with perfectly fried clams. Not undercooked, not overcooked. Perfect. I assumed they were gonna play that similar trick of making portions of fish and clams look larger by sitting them on a pile of french fries, so I was quite shocked as I found clam after clam underneath each other while I worked toward the fries. The accompanying coleslaw was excellent by New England standards, but just a little too much onion for me--some people like it that way. I'll be coming back every time I visit.. read more

I opted for a bowl of lobster stew. The broth was tasteless even dousing it with pepper didn't help. There was a decent amount of lobster pieces which was adequate until I had to spit out a rancid claw. Very bad vibe given off after having to spit out the lobster. Our waitress last time we dined there was exceptional in every way quick, responsive & very funny. Todays waitress was the opposite not attentive "where did she go" I had to ask another waitress to find her for me. When she came over I explained about the rancid claw & tasteless broth. She took it away to tell her manager. I was under the assumption that the manager would stop by & speak to me- no he or she never came by. A sad way to treat a customer with an issue. They did however discount the lobster stew which was nice but a visit from the manager should have been the right thing to do. The last time there I had clam chowder which I remember was very good so I ordered a cup to take home to try. I'll update the review tomorrow after I have the chowder. Every trip to Saco brings me back to sea salt for the OOB lobster roll. So consistent with the best lobster. All the seafood is great. I do love their fried seafood as well. Batter is light and you can tell that they don't keep reusing oil day by day. Clean and fresh. Our waiter, Joel, was amazing the other day. He was so friendly and made our meal so enjoyable! My husband and I did a quick Google search for seafood nearby, and this spot came up as the top choice. We looked over the menu and thought, 'Why not?' They had a lot to offer. When we arrived in the early afternoon, we were surprised to see it wasn't very busy. We decided to seat ourselves at the bar and we were immediately greeted and serviced. We both ordered a Pumpkin Rita, which was delicious--perfectly balanced, not too strong or watered down. For food, he had 6 raw oysters and mussels, which he thought were good and would order again. I went with the shrimp tacos and their homemade chips. The tacos were delicious and filling, with two per order. Highly recommend coming here! As another review said, it is a bit pricier but I was very satisfied with my food. The environment is very casual and during dinner time it got quite busy. They had a good selection to choose from on the menu. The lobster stew had several big chunks of lobster and was quite delicious! The garlic bread included was great for dipping. The OOB lobster roll was warm and the chips are house made. I think there was old bay seasoning on them, I could be wrong. This was my first time coming to Maine so I had to try some lobster dishes. I was at Sea Salt about 3 weeks ago on a Sunday. Very friendly greeting and seated immediately even though it was quite busy - I was by myself. I ordered sauvingon blanc, a label I know. Dinner, order Clam Chowder and the Baked Stuffed Haddock with Lobster Sauce. The Chowder had great flavor but was lukewarm so I was a bit disappointed. The Haddock was undercooked, just warm in the middle, which was of concern because it was raw fish. I barely ate half of it. I did raise concerns with my server, and they compted the entree, which I was grateful and thankful for. They also seved me my blueberry pie for free which was truly appreciated. The kitchen needs to work on temperatures of food and cooking fully, especially with seafood. The service was excellent and I will go back to try other entrees. While on vacation in Maine we wanted to hit a seafood spot. This place had great reviews. It is a beautiful restaurant with ample parking. We sat outside which was nice. Although busy we were sat quickly. We started with clam chowder. It was one of the best I ever had. Full of clams and creamy but not too thick. The mushrooms were not what we expected. They are not stuffed but mixed with burnt ends and cheese and topped with bread crumbs. They were ok. Kind of sweet from the sherry. I would skip them. We tried fiddle heads. First time for me and they were good. Kind of like green beans with a nice tender bite. Finally we shared a fisherman's platter. Your typical good fish fry with light breading. Earlier in the week I went to Sea Salt Lobster because a friend had to satisfy her fried clam craving and she likes this place! I decided to do the Taco Salad with haddock. The haddock was excellent and prepared to perfection. I found the rest of the taco salad disappointing mainly because of the arrangement. It was in a very deep salad bowl, and all the additional taco salad ingredients were buried under a tremendous amount of lettuce. By the time I broke through the lettuce, I wasn't especially ready for more. I was disappointed and I would like to suggest that the haddock taco salad be re-plated. My suggestion is a shallow dish like a pasta dish around 9" in diameter and 2" deep. Start with a bed of lettuce and place the haddock in the center. Then surround the remaining ingredients used in the taco salad around the haddock. Put the cheese on top of the remaining ingredients instead of mixing it in and letting it get all goopy from the salsa. I think that would make a presentable and appealing haddock taco salad. As for the chips, buy some and place them in a side cup. Those taco shell triangles served with the salad were old, tired and hard as a rock. In summary, make a smashing dish by rearranging the items instead of presenting a taco salad that looks like a hurried dumping of ingredients tossed into a bowl. If you change it up, I will return. I like the idea of the taco salad with haddock and I would like to enjoy a new presentation. I would like to mention we had a very nice waitress who willingly exchanged options requested by the other gals at the table. read more

We have a shellfish allergy in our family for one of us and they made sure we all had exactly what we needed for a flavor filled and non-allergic meal. When you're a local Mainer it's a challenge to find a good seafood joint that isn't a tourist trap. Sea Salt is one of my go-tos every time for quality fried seafood and lobster rolls that don't feel like I'm breaking the bank. Still incredibly local and fresh, Sea Salt feels almost like a diner, in the way that it feels comfy (not extremely crowded), friendly (attentive but not helicoptery staff), and the portions are hefty. This weekend we were craving fried clams, and some steamers. We also got some of their "firecracker shrimp" the lunch portions were satisfying and then some! We sat out on their patio, which was so nice. Sure, Sea Salt is not by the water where all the tourist traps are, but the outdoor seating is still nautical and breezy. I've been here before and had their lobster rolls - they're a good one. Fresh tail and claw meat that they don't skimp on, served with lettuce and fries. (I will say, the fries are nothing to write home about, but they do also make homemade chips that are pretty darn delicious!) Never a bad meal at this place. Feels authentic and homey.
