The food was absolutely delicious and such a surprise honestly for how good it was in a literal bowling alley. It's so nice inside, the drinks are delicious, and again, the food is great. This place is fun and the food and drinks are above average. It is a happy place for friends and family to meet and enjoy. However, be careful when they bring you the Bill! They automatically charge you & include a sneaky 25% TIP and never mention or notify you of that charge. If you have had several drinks you may not even notice ( which I think the Servers and Bartenders count on.) So our particular Server ended up getting tipped double the amount of $$$$ we left her. I find this practice very shady and really despicable, not to mention, dishonest! Unfortunately, it actually ruined our experience there which had been great up until we discovered we had been overcharged! So...Just make sure you really check over the Bill before paying with cash or credit card. Yes, I was a little judgey when it was first suggested by a local that we go to the freaking bowling alley for dinner. I had crazy low expectations; I mean how good would the food actually be??? Well, it is amazing. This is our "go to" spot when we want a quality date night dinner and don't want to be all fancy about it. Their standard menu has some great stuff however, be sure to have the server tell you about the daily specials. A rainy Sunday while on vacation in Maine is perfect for bowling and this spot met all our needs. We had a few snacks and drinks while bowling and then had dinner after. I actually have not bowled here, though bowling is bowling, so Im sure it's fun. That being said, the food here is fantastic! There are 2 locations for seating: 1 is a formal dining room that sits away from the lanes, with a view of the open kitchen. The other is seating at the bar and tables around it, with a view of the lanes. The food and drink offerings are the same, so it's up to you what vibe you are going for. We chose to sit by the bar for more casual service. The bartender was fast and very friendly. We ordered a salad with grilled chicken and the seared tuna sandwich on a brioche bun. Both of them were honestly really good. The sandwich also came with fries, so the value at $18 was really great. The quality of food was what you would expect at a fancy date night, but at extremely reasonable bowling alley prices. The beer prices were also fantastic for this economy ($4.5 16oz tecate!) This was actually my second visit at Garden Street Bowl and I'm sad to say that things have severely changed since my first visit. We had initially had a great time the first time we came - polite friendly service, fun at bowling, and excellent food in the dining area. I had enjoyed it so much that, when planning our visit this year, we made a point to plan to come back. Upon our arrival, the staff at the front desk was extremely short and rude. All of our questions were answered in snippy, short comments, and we were informed that we would not be allowed to have bumpers on our lane because we did not have children with our party. Why do they care? My friend wanted to use bumpers and was not allowed to. What does it cost them? in any case we went and began our games but we're not approached by any waitstaff, until our first round of games was almost through. The server who did approach was quite friendly, but the person who came back with our drinks appeared annoyed that he had to bring them over and, when we asked about water, pointed to the cups in the corner and said it's over there as he stalked away. Upon completing our second game, we decided that we would stay and have dinner. We chose to eat in the bar and were happy that the waitress - Emma - was the same kind server from our lane and she was extremely nice. I ordered the Mexican Street Corn salad- small portion, with regular (not "candied" as advertised) jalapeños, canned corn and, for $8 more, exactly 4 shrimp. If I'm going to pay $23 for a salad, I am expecting something substantial that I am not going to leave starving. Absolutely overpriced and not at all worth the money. Overall, with the exception of Emma, the staff was rude and blunt. Every single, one of them aside from her seemed annoyed and wanted nothing to do with helping anyone. All of the food was extremely overpriced and not worth the money. When we had visited before, the menu was much more extensive and we were very disappointed. I don't think we will be back. It's my hope that someone from the establishment will read this feedback and make necessary changes to bring the establishment back to what it was the first time that we visited. My company booked an event for our large groups Christmas party. Upon on our arrival they were not ready or prepared for us. The restaurant stated they had no idea of our reservation instead of a restaurant being accommodating as one would hope we were met with condescending and disrespectful attitudes by the staff to include a waitress by the name of Morgan, who was disrespectful condescending and patronizing upon every encounter with our group. She spilled drinks on our guests never apologizing, getting a towel or anything to clean up or tried to make it right in any way. We received bottles of water with our service, no glasses, silverware, and waited halfway through the meal for our table to be cleaned off from previous patrons. This was the first time I've ever been a patron to Garden Street bowl and will be my last. Also, my company will never book with them again. I'm writing this review from the perspective of a customer who uses a wheelchair for mobility. Upon arrival at the building, it is somewhat confusing because the entrance was actually at the back side of the building from where we pulled in. The had ample handicap parking spots right outside the entrance doors. There was flat entry getting in. The location is a bowling alley, but also has a full bar and a full restaurant. They do require / recommend reservations for bowling lanes as they block them out for periods of time for a specific price. Our biggest concern was the ability for my wife in her wheelchair to be able to get to the bowling lane and participate with us. They have done a fantastic job of this by building in a ramp that runs alongside one of their bowling lanes, which brings you right up on the actual bowling surface. Then it's just a matter of cutting across the lanes to get to your spot. Each lane has the more modern seating with a table in the middle. They are outfitted with tablet computers to setup your bowlers, etc. The scoring is computerized, which is a plus. The also provide food and drink menus at the table. We shared a flat bread with grilled chicken, 3 cheeses and bacon with a white garlic sauce and it was plenty for the 3 of us and delicious. The service was fantastic and fast. That was one thing I noticed, they were very well staffed. When we first arrived, we spoke directly with the owner as he was out front at the check in desk. Everything was super clean and well appointed. The restrooms are adequately wheelchair accessible/compliant. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back when we're back in the area. read more

I am extremely disappointed in the staff management making food take-out. Though I love this restaurant some improvement in service for take out is necessary. As a customer who orders their food YEAR round. As I opened up the bag for my order. I saw that the burrito wasn't rapped in foil and was soggy and they hardly gave me any chips on the side. As a person who orders their takeout at least once a month I have an experienced this before... but NEVER this bad. And as I kept digging for the other food, It just shocked me how easily the staff can make the food not just presentable, but good. Until I have seen improvement, I will change my review but once again. Garden Street Bowl please take action and accountability and change this. read more

We went here for a bite with minimal expectations. My husband lived in the area when the site was a great little market. We both got burgers which came with house made chips. I had the black and blue, sooo good. We also had the Brussels sprouts which were good to the last crispy bite. Our server was great. I wish I could remember his name to give him credit he earned. I was a little shocked when first moving to the area from locals that the Garden Street Bowl had the best burgers in town -- but, it turned out to be true! While their menu is very good, and their apps are solid (the warm marinated olives are a treat!), the burgers are the Star. Even their "basic" Aisle #1 Burger is incredible. While their fries as good as well, do yourself a favor and embrace the Canadian treat that is Poutine! The gravy is flavorful and tastes like a concentrated French onion soup, and the cheese was hot and melted. The seated area is nice if you're looking for a more formal dining experience, but the bar is my personal go-to. The staff at the bar is friendly and knowledgeable about the rotating taps and any specials. Lots of TVs with sports and whatnot as well, so definitely worth popping in for a solid meal. When you think of one of the five best meals you've ever had, bowling alley cuisine don't usually come to mind. The folks at Crotux located within Garden Street Bowl will change that. The menu is diverse enough to find something for everyone. My wife and I shared the Brussel Sprouts and the Dip for appetizers. The sprouts were cooked perfectly with a slight crisp on the edges. The dip was hearty enough for the two of us, but not overfilling. For the entree, I ordered the Black and Bleu burger cooked to perfection. My stepson got the Shrimp Pad Thai that was so so flavorful you forget there are families bowling behind you. We came here for the second time because we loved it the first time. Again the food was good but...we had a reservation for bowling. My son went up once and they said about 10 minutes, we'll come get you...Time passes and nothing. I went up and was told another 10 minutes...waited again...then went to the desk and the woman said " oh there's an open lane I just forgot to get you"!!!! We said no thanks and left! We always order takeout from here. Often they are very busy and not worth the wait to dine in. Love the menu they offer, most items are standard but they often update main menu items. We really have not been disappointed by anything we have ordered from the restaurant. Seems to be priced a little high, but once you get the food you know why!
