Grilled chicken sandwich with fries, behind it is the French dip with rings.(not great photo of French dip)

Stopped in while visiting southern Maine. We ordered the French dip and a grilled chicken handheld sandwich. Both were great but we absolutely agreed the French dip stole the show. Billy was our server and she was fantastic and gave great feedback. Will definitely stop in again. Not 100% certain if accessible and we parked along side street (2 hour parking spot) and you walked in Through the back which seemed odd but the door dropped you right into the dining area. All in all good experience. Onion rings were fantastic and the fries tasted good and homemade(?) but could be a bit crisper (IMO).

My bride wanted a burger. Away we went to Duffy's Tavern to grab an early dinner. Surprise surprise the restaurant was closed due to no heat. Their heating system broke. Oh well off to another restaurant.

Came for dinner. There was a wait. We sat at the bar instead. Good crowd, We made friends with the people next to us! Great conversation ! Great atmosphere. Meatloaf dinner with mashed potatoes. Asparagus Drink. Shrimp.Scampi in a Garlic Butter Sauce. Prosecco to drink. The meatloaf was very good and so was the Asparagus! The mashed potatoes tasted very heavy, not light and fluffy. The shrimp scampi was dissapointing. First off, it wasn't seasoned at all. I had to put a lot of salt and parmesan cheese to get some taste but it was hard to do that because the pasta was drenched in broth as if it was soup! It was soo watery and unflavored but I was so hungry, I ate it. But it was very dissapointing. We want to come back and try the beef tips and the Orange chicken. Next time we're in town, maybe we give them another chance.

What an amazing place! Service is one of the best! Food is delicious! Huge portions! The atmosphere is one of the best! I totally recommend this place. Should be rated 5. Thank you for making our day special!

Fish tacos and a pepperoni personal pizza - love them!!

Duffys is a classic neighborhood bar / tavern, with friendly service and something on the menu for everyone! We live in town and Duffys is one of our go-to spots for a tasty bite and some beers. If you visit during happy hour, drafts are $1 off :) We love love their soft pretzels, fried pickles and chicken tenders - we always have to start our meal with one of those! For entrees you really can't go wrong! I love their fried seafood (scallops are my go-to), their sandwiches (the French dip is my fave) and their personal pizza (classic pepperoni for me!). If you save room they have a ridiculous (in a good way) ice cream sundae served in one of those nostalgic glass goblets. If you're in visiting from out of town, Duffys is a super option for a group because the menu offers a variety to choose from. Also - though it can get quite busy it's not as insane as some of the options down in dock square. I recommend visiting Duffys, enjoying a cold beer, and eating a good hearty meal.

We started the evening with cocktails which were very much to our liking, followed by a delicious appetizer of lobster risotto that we shared. We both ordered the short ribs which were mouthwatering and cooked to perfection that the meat fell off the bone. The servings were enough where we took the bones and whatever meat was left to make a delicious beef soup. Neither one of us were up for dessert but decided to get two to go, which we downed once we got home. And they were both delicious. In closing, I'd be remiss without saying a good word about our server Keila. She was warm, friendly, funny, and very attentive to our table. She made our night to enjoyable! Thanks you Keila ! We look forward to our next visit to The Village Inn soon.

If you loved Village Tavern under the previous owners, you should know that the beloved restaurant you remember no longer exists. The name is the same. The esthetic is the same. Some menu items even have the same names. But the experience is not. During our visit, the calamari, salmon, duck, and haddock were all cooked properly, yet each dish was surprisingly bland and forgettable. Many longtime favorites, including the wide selection of side dishes like the broccoli with blue cheese, are gone. This isn't a bad restaurant on its own merits. The problem is that it's trading on the reputation of something that no longer exists. What I find most puzzling is that the new owners kept the Village Tavern name while abandoning so much of what made it successful. When a restaurant has earned decades of loyalty, you would expect new ownership to preserve its strengths. Instead, it feels like they discarded the very things that built its reputation. I left disappointed, but mostly sad. A restaurant I once considered one of the best in Southern Maine is now simply pedestrian and overly priced. Former fans should adjust their expectations accordingly or avoid the disappointment altogether.

We were seated quickly in the quaint restaurant. Our server gave a great first impression. She said the haddock chowder was the best in town. Despite not trying any other restaurants in town, I think she is right. The chowder had a good balance of fish and potatoes, a little soupier than I like but still high quality. There was a piece of fish almost as big as a bar of soap! At the table, we enjoyed the fillet mignon, cooked very well, except for one burnt corner (couldn't figure out what happened there). We also enjoyed some nachos and a very pleasant, simple lobster roll, on a perfectly grilled New England style hot dog roll. Hot buttered was an option too, but a true New Englander would never try one hot. No cocktails tonight, but several neighbors imbibed and they all looked smashing. Also no deserts for us. The menu was just right, not too big, not too small. There was something for everyone, including a kids menu. We were lucky to find this restaurant inside of an Inn. Next time we're in Kennebunk we will be stopping by here again.
