Within a few minutes we had all the food ordered. The event was a success, and the food was delicious. We had plenty of food for the whole group. Was passing through Bakersfield and decided to stop to eat. Got off freeway and stopped at the gas station. They told us about this place so decided to try it out. Would have been happier going to McDonald's, jack in the box or even Denny's which is down the street. The price of food for what you get, menu states quality meats, they have some kind of saying low slow fire etc. sure didn't taste like it. I honestly thought the pulled pork was microwaved. First time here and I will never return. First off we walked in for carry out and weren't helped for about 10 mins just standing there looking around at nothing. Got to order our food and were told they were out of a couple items that we asked for and the lady said I want to ask if these are ok cause that's all your gonna get at this moment. After a few moments we were informed that they were out of more items from our order and asked us if we were ok with corn bread over corn on the cob and the mashed potatoes......what we learned today is that apparently they can't keep there place stocked for there full business day weather it's busy or not. If they prioritize for lunch then close after lunch if you are just gonna run out of food for customers. Can't say anything on there food cause I didn't get to try it. I asked for a refund and the lady kept giving excuses that they can get our order together if they just tell a table that they ran out....ummm no they were there first. We usually love this place but we were very upset the other day when we got food poisoning from their old, sour ranch dressing. We thought it tasted funny and waitress said it was fresh. I'm very surprised with all these "excellent " reviews on here. Had a horrible experience here a few weeks ago. Came in around dinner on a Saturday with some friends ordered what smelled like awesome food. Food came out quickly for the kids and nice and hot. But by the time the adults dinner came out about 10 mins later ( mind you there were maybe a total of 5 other people in here) our food was cold. Very cold to the touch. Chicken,hot links and ribs all cold. It doesn't make sense that the food be cold so we ask for another plate ( also we asked why the cornbread was cold and got a shrug) 2nd plate full of meat and sides no reason for it to be cold, if they checked their food before it went out. Nope, cold food again and no apologies offered nothing. Got a full refund and ended up at Mexican food. No thanks, won't be back here again. I'll just wait for the new BBQ place off coffee to be completed for real good HOT BBQ. Lost my business forever! Avoid at all costs. Still confused why there are so many positive reviews on here? I am a brisket girl but now residing in Cali I have switched over to tri tip and let me tell you, the smoke ring is perfect and cooked to perfection. They have a nice mild bbq sauce on the side or if like spicy try the spicy BBQ made with ghost peppers but with bbq this good skip the sauce! My husband brought home the platter and two sides for dinner. The platter is incredibly overpriced for the amount of meat we were given. Very small portions. Chicken and ribs were dry. My husband was more put off by the rude and unfriendly women that he dealt with at the restaurant. We will often go back to a place if the staff is friendly. Really a waste of 25 bucks. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else. Don't waste it here. Very disappointed after hearing good things about champs. Maybe they used to be better. Definitely no good now. read more

At least what i got the bbq flavor is not there, i got the pulled pork sanwich and the meat tasted like it just came out of a bucket of water with the least amount of bbq flavor i've ever tasted and it was so soggy my roll was falling apart. The price for the food does not match the taste they over charge for the sandwich, and it doesn't come with a side that is extra for the price it should've came with a side. I had the BBQ burger; everything was fresh, cooked to order. The waitress was very helpful offering to refill my beverage eventhough there is a self-serve soda fountain. I make better iced tea, but I'm picky about my tea. It was as good as most restaurants. They also have fresh cold beer on tap and in bottles with flat screen TV's. Very good atmosphere. read more
