It was the very first time trying this I can say I really like it and I like it so much I did returned 3 days later the food was fresh as it was just coming off the stove I watched them bring it off & good the service was good the staff was very polite the restaurant was very clean the restaurant was full of people so that's a good sign they have a place you pice your sauces it was very clean the soda machine was clean I gave the staff a very good tip I did not eat my food there I was taking it out but I felt they deserved it! This is my favorite flame broiler out of all the locations. They are super quick. I like to have half veggies and half brown rice. The rice, veggies, and chicken are always cooked to perfection. The snack size is perfect for lunch and for under 10$ it's hard to find a better fit. read more

My first visit was accidental. I was supposed to meet a friend at the Starbuck's next door, but the tables were all taken, so I told him to meet me here. Turned out to be a happy accident. When I walked in at about 7:30pm, there were a couple of occupied tables, and a couple of people waiting for to-go orders. The place is clean and orderly. I walked up to the register right away, no line, and I was greeted by a smiling young woman. I asked a few questions about the menu, and she was very helpful. I ordered a mini-bowl of chicken & brown rice, with just green onion for a garnish. It was almost $7 with a soda; not cheap, but not bad. She brought it right to me, and when I mentioned that I would be taking most of it home, she returned with a lid for the bowl and a bag. I thought that was really good service. Later, I saw her out cleaning tables. I wonder, does anyone else work here? The bowl itself was quite tasty. I didn't use any of their magic sauce, whatever that is, and the chicken was well-seasoned with a bit of oriental flair. It will be a delicious lunch tomorrow! I'll be back, and maybe next time we'll skip Starbuck's and go directly there. read more

My wife and I tried this place twice and both times it sucked. The rice was undercooked and the chicken was super DRY. Costco sells teriyaki bowls that are better and they are cheaper too. This is a very clean and updated Flame Broiler, this was my first time visiting this location and I was impressed. It is located right in front of the InShape gym so it's a convenient spot to grab a quick, light, and healthy lunch. I ordered a regular bowl with all white mean chicken breast and the cashier let me know it would take about 10 minutes for it which wasn't an issue as I was not in a hurry. You get 1 star for the food being relatively good and always fresh tasting. What I can't stand is that the girls will get "in trouble" for everything. My first or second visit there I noticed AFTER I paid that there was a special. As I left I asked if I could make a suggestion: offer the customer the special in case they hadn't noticed it. I was told they are not allowed to offer it or they would get in trouble. Today, none of the lids to the sauce cups worked. Apparently they are defective and all stuck together and almost impossible to get them apart. I asked for a cup with a lid. They couldn't because "they would get in trouble". Their solution was to PUT DOWN THE MOP AND HELP ME TAKE THEM APART WITH UNWASHED HANDS. Barf. This owner owns all but one newly built Flame Broiler in town. I won't be going back. The owner has a bunch of little girls working for him in fear of providing good customer service. Too cheap to provide containers for the sauce, and let's be honest, the bowls need it as the veggies have zero seasonings on them. UPDATE: 8/2//020 - We went here today and order a mini chicken bowl and beef plate. I requested no salad or fruit for the plate. When the cashier repeated the order back to me, she read it correctly except she said, "no veggies, no fruit, no salad and extra rice". I said no I don't want extra rice and she said she had to enter something in place of the fruit and salad in the system. I said I come here often and they always make my plate without salad or fruit and no extra rice. Her response was, "I'm the manager". WTH?!!! THAT is an appropriate response?!!! I asked "Chelsea" 3 times, "So what does you being the manager have to do with me not wanting extra rice?" Three times and she ignored me right at the register. If you hire other managers as ignorant as she is, your business will definitely be single visits. Who the hell would want to go back a 2nd time after service from an employee like that. She's more qualified to water plants in the mall. I usually go to the location on California and Stockdale. I tried this location today and ordered the Chicken mini bowl. To my surprise they have a weekend Happy Hour combo for $4.59 with a drink. Problem is, they give you about 1/3 of the amount of chicken that you normally get when you pay regular price. The cabbage salad was very dry, and I would not recommend. The plate is honestly not worth it, but the bowl with extra protein is the better option for the same price! Can't believe this actually happen lol. Went in for my weekly flame broiler bowl, and because I came in between 2-5pm and there was a "special" on the bowl I get 3-4 days a week. I couldn't get my chicken well done??? Like are you serious? You can't leave my chicken on the grill for 30 more seconds? Absolutely ridiculous. Been going to flame broiler 3-4 days a week for years. This is one of my favorite fast food spots! The kind of fast food that you don't feel super bad for what your eating. I also love that there are not too many choices because I take forever to decide when presented with too many choices. I always opt for the chicken bowl, brown rice, extra green onions and fill up as many hot sauces, and magic sauces that I can before my order is ready #truestory. They are delicious and taste great with everything. Lately I've noticed that the food has a rubbery taste that I'm not thrilled about, but can be fixed with a few more sauces lol. The staff is pretty nice and seem to keep things clean and organized. The price is definitely spot on and it is a big part of why I choose flamebroilers over other teriyaki bowl restaurants. This is one of my favorite places to grab lunch when I am in Bakersfield. The concept is so easy. You have a choice of white or dark chicken white or dark meat and that is it and if you want veggies on the bowl or plate. I don't know what the "secret sauce" is but combined with the hot sauce it makes a perfect sauce in my opinion.
