When the bartender, Becky gave me my change, I asked for clarification on why my drink cost what it did. She immediately turns around towards the register as she explains why it costs what it did, and grabs a dollar to slam down in front of me. I didn't ask for this. But since we're talking dollars, I'm owed $3 more. I simply asked for an explanation. And when I asked her to repeat what she said because I didn't hear her response, she berated me; "oh my gawd, how many f$*&ing times do I have to repeat myself? Are you a f^%$ing idiot?" To which I responded, "woah I'm just trying to understand why my $5.50 drink cost me $9.50! After that I just saw red. I abruptly pushed the incorrect change off the bar and walked out. At the door I said "I see why this f#%*ing bar is empty! (There were 2 other people in the bar at the time at 1030pm on a Saturday) I was livid! And though I feel that was an appropriate response to the verbal assault from Becky, I do wish in the moment I just walked out without saying anything. This is the service you can expect from The Cove. Where the owner cares more about being a "bar owner" than he cares about how his customers are actually treated. Having worked in the service industry myself, I was genuinely taken aback by Becky's response to a very basic question, asked in a perfectly appropriate manner. When I'm off of work and trying to unwind at a local dive at the end of a long week, I won't pay to be treated that way. There's no need for it. P.S. Don't open a tab here!
