Professionalism isn't just scheduling appointments, it's tone, respect and knowing how not to sound annoyed by the people paying your bills. The overall quality of customer service here has taken a noticeable dive. What once felt organized now feels careless and the first impression sets the tone for everything else. Because of this, Rain just lost this dentistry a long-time client. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. On January 20, 2025, I went to Chandler Modern Dentistry to replace a broken crown they had placed about a year earlier. After taking an X-ray, they confirmed the crown was cracked. However, while attempting to remove it--after grinding it down--the dentist suddenly told me the root was also cracked. This came as a complete shock. I had no symptoms prior to my visit--no pain, swelling, or discomfort--and even the X-ray taken that day showed no visible crack. When I asked to see the issue, I was handed a mirror and noticed a bulge in the tooth. What concerned me most was the long pause the dentist took after applying significant pressure, which I believe may have caused the root to crack in the first place. The procedure lasted seven hours and left me in excruciating pain for two weeks. I developed blisters and sores around the injection sites, could barely eat solid food, and lost 10 pounds. I missed work and had many sleepless nights. Even worse, I had to return and call the office multiple times due to a foul smell, bloody drainage, and ongoing pain that continued for over a month. I canceled my follow-up appointment and decided not to return. Unfortunately, despite not completing the procedure, they still charged the full amount through my payment plan. I verbally requested a refund on February 28 and was told it would be processed in 10 business days. When nothing happened, I formally followed up on March 31. The office manager assured me again that the refund would be issued--but here I am, still waiting. This has been one of the worst dental experiences of my life. For anyone considering this office, please be aware: Chandler Modern Dentistry is not BBB-accredited, and based on my experience, they don't seem concerned with patient well-being or accountability. read more

Dishonest business. Long story short: Agreed on $1450 for all dental work, with a $110 deposit, for $1560 total for all services. This was negotiated down from $2165 as originally offered. After the crown was made at the lab, they cemented it in and the office asked if we could prepay for the final appointment, the cleaning of the left side of the mouth. This appointment was included and paid for in the original $1560 charge. They insisted the original agreement was void because appointments were rescheduled, and because of that, the first payment did not cover the left side of the mouth, as agreed, as signed. I was reassured that this is not fraud and there are not laws against charging consumers for services that are not rendered. They were very sure of themselves! (Be advised: They have you sign the itemized invoice and give it directly to them without giving you a copy. Your receipt will be a simple dollar amount and will not be itemized. Very disappointed. Waste of time and money, sadly. They recommended extensive cleaning treatments and made me pay over $100 out of pocket. This has never happened before. I have always had excellent dental insurance that covers all preventative and annual routine cleaning and check ups. They had me pay for preventive cleaning. I go into my Aetna.com to check my claims and they have two claims for large amounts - I only went there for an annual check up. They did two types of X-rays - very costly and not needed. To add insult to injury, they claimed I needed a root canal and had an abscess that they viewed on the X-rays they took. Thankfully I went to my Endo and got a second opinion - more money out of my pocket for X-rays - just to confirm their X-ray was inaccurate and must have been at the wrong angle and my root was just fine. This is a commercial/ corporate dentist. No real accountability for inaccuracies or over billing. Do yourself a favor and find a private dentist that has more care and concern. I can't recommend this office enough. I saw the bad reviews but I didn't take much heed. My Medicare Advantage plan uses Delta Dental and they covered my services here (not all but most) and I am a big weenie when it comes to dental care. The office staff SO KINDLY worked with me on payment for the 'extras'. I have dental issues and I gotta say, these people took care, they are truly a team and all seem caring and happy to be there. Crown in a day? WHAT? Magic! Deep cleaning? Easy peasy. We're living in a much better world for dental care. It was fast, easy and I will go back for needed care. "Manager" Scotland speaks to clients in a condescending manner, says she's the stop gap to administration, no one is above her to critique or manage her performance. I called with a genuine question regarding my benefits and she insisted on stating their license is most important and trumps any valid concern a patient may have. If you go there make sure that your insurance knows that they don't do basic cleaning, the push for deep cleaning that most policies do not cover. I went there hoping for good honest service instead was met with arrogance and quite frankly treated poorly. Beware the services you pay for in advance you may be charged even more after several days after the service. Now I'm questioning whether the The dentist make decisions based on Services that will make the company money rather than services actually needed. I was charged a specific amount based on what my insurance wasn't going to pay several days later they came back and informed my daughter that i Have to pay more money at my insurance rate. So far I have paid between insurance and my own money $2555 and they say that my 21-year-old college student has to pay them them $250 and they refused to take payments. But if I had walked in there and paid cash, it would've been $2100. I asked that they charge me $59 for the initial visit and charge that 250 to the insurance and they said because I have insurance I have to pay full insurance rates. Cash $2100, insurance $3000 but they are. Going to put it on her credit report. I have been a patient here for almost 5 years and had no issues with them before. However, recently did two composite fillings which cost me $380 (out of pocket with my insurance) while my friend did hers almost the same time at a different place for only $50 (we have the same insurance). I called their manager and her explanation is the extra treatment and their "composite material" are different than other. well... i would recommend to compare the prices with other places before you come here but i wont come back again. read more

I take great care of my teeth and get a preventive exam, cleaning and X-rays every 6 months, paid by my Dental Insurance provider. Never in 30 years have I had an experience with a hygienist refusing to clean my teeth because they wanted me to pay them money for a procedure that no other dentist has ever recommended to me. Went in for a routine exam and cleaning. I saw Dr Cassandra Pierre-Jerome and her "New" hygienist, Sarah Staley. All I wanted was a preventative 6 month cleaning and was told that all my teeth needed a deep cleaning for approx. $300 out of pocket and the office manager would check my insurance for any payment. I was already there 2 hours and said not to check my insurance because I was just there to get my basic cleaning and X-rays (in which they took a lot of). I also said I didn't believe that my teeth needed to be deep cleaned with saline at that time. They refused to even do the basic cleaning until after I first get the deep cleaning and to also pay them upfront/out of pocket for this cleaning. I advised the office manager and staff that I was going to file a complaint because they wasted 2 and a half hours of my day for nothing and that it was wrong to refuse my cleaning and ask for additional payment before any preventative cleaning can be done. They offered a tech to brush and floss my teeth for me in the office in which I told them I can brush and floss my own teeth - anytime and I left the office. It is really absurd to refuse a basic cleaning in which a person needs and gets twice a year, during a preventive office visit. DO NOT Recommend this place. I have filed a complaint with my Insurance company about this Dentist and their unethical Practices. Since this time, I have been to two different Dentists for my 6 month exam/cleaning and both times had my teeth cleaned without any recommendations of a necessary/mandatory deep cleaning first!! read more

He told me it would not cost me anything at all. 6 months later when I went to get the job finished, he had his joke of an office manager, tell me he would do the work if I paid him $7500.00 Tyson knew I lost my home and I am living in a trailer I'm the middle of the desert in a tin can..... If I could give zero stars I would. Went in with new patient special for $59 which includes x-ray, examination, and basic cleaning. They did x-ray and did examination on gums and I was told I have no cavities but 2 of my teeth gums were at a "4" and it should be 3 or lower and said I had gingivitis and that I need to spend $450 for the special cleaning And now refusing my basic cleaning that I came in there for because I didn't want to spend the $450 he said that it's due to liability reasons. What a joke! The new patient special advertised never stated any exclusions. I don't feel I have gingivitis and don't understand how getting a basic teeth cleaning can cause an issue with liability! The lack of attention to detail on the part of their Operations Manager cost me an additional $300 out of pocket. I had services performed in December of 2021, but they were accidentally using remaining benefit levels for 2022 in their price/co-pay estimates. If they had used the correct information when providing their quote for the amount of co-pay, I would have postponed the service for another thirty days, or until after the 1st of January when my annual coverage had been reset. Also, their financial responsibility form is guaranteed to make every customer a dedicated victim of any payment dispute between the Insurance carrier and the dental office. All right to contest charges are waived by the customer, and this exposes all customers to potentially receiving unexpected dental co-pay bills several months later. In my case, four months had gone by when I suddenly received a bill for $359. Guess who had to pay that? Guess who didn't accept accountability for their error? The Insurance Company blames the Dental Office, and vice-versa, but when they can't agree, they both look to the customer. It's quite a disgusting process. I was with my previous provider for about ten years, with absolutely no billing issues... I had one procedure performed with this provider, and they were literally costing me money. I canceled my future appointments, and will seek a new dental office for a better quality of service, and more ethical billing practices. Have your financial guard up with this office. At the end of the day they don't really care what their customers think. You are just another dollar sign to them. read more

I have been going to see Dr Jolly and his staff for several years and this is by far the best experience I have had with a dentist. The quality of work, which is the most important thing for me, is tremendous. I say this as I see the improvements from visit to visit, and they usually become shorter as not not as much work is now needed. I have had crowns, fillings, perio and general hygienist work done here. My wife now goes here, my adult daughter and a couple of her friends do so now as well. My daughter used to fear the dentist office, not any more. Also, the front office people know my name, set up my appointments properly and have web apps to make the check-in process a breeze. Dr Jolly stands behind his work. I know this from experience as I had warranty work done that ought have been my responsibility. Very good guy. read more

They have done multiple procedures for me. Each one successful and comfortable. You know you have a talented dentist when the power goes out during your root canal and he is able to finish the job with an iPhone nightlight! This happened to me the last time I was there. My mother had also passed away the day before. They were patient and kind when I had to stop to dry my tears. I was a mess but in so much pain I had to be there. 1st experience - Worst experience Was there 2 and a half hours.... Wasted time. A lot of reviews said they give you worst case scenario and want you to pay extra for services you don't need. I found this to be entirely accurate. Went in for a routine check and cleaning. I take great care of my teeth and never had more than a cavity here or there in 40 years. Saw Dr Cassandra Pierre-Jerome. Mentioned I had a tooth that was bothering me. She said she couldn't tell if the filling was cracked or my tooth. (It's the filling) Without knowing for sure she said I needed a crown, which means file the entire tooth down and place a fake tooth over it. Talk about unnecessary, painful, and expensive. All I wanted was a cleaning and she said 2 teeth needed a deep clean for $280 out of pocket and they would check my insurance. I was already there 2 hours and said not to check my insurance cause I had no money to pay $280 out of pocket. They had me sit 20 more minutes to check my insurance anyway then refused me the basic cleaning because I couldn't pay almost $300 for two teeth to be deep cleaned with saline. When I said I was going to file a complaint because she wasted 2 and a half hours of my day for nothing and it was ridiculous to refuse my cleaning over two teeth... she said "actually it's several teeth." So it went from 2 to several?? After I complained she offered for a tech to basically brush and floss my teeth for me (instead of a real dentist actually doing a cleaning). I left and said I can brush and floss my own teeth thank you. Absolutely ridiculous to refuse a basic cleaning that every person needs and gets twice a year regardless of their dental health. This is the first time I've had a dentist clearly explain the services I need, why, etc. I've had several visits; the first visit was longer than the others because of the "assessment", but after that was complete I was given a dental plan, with details on how much/what my insurance would cover, and I decided on how to move forward. I wish we lived in a world where you could trust people in the medical field, but since these places make their money from pain you can't trust any of them. This place is no exception to the rule and it pains me to say this place is not a joke. When I say don't go, just don't go. It's not going to be a good experience and even if you think it was its time to check with your insurance because they probably ripped you off. They attempted to charge me for a deep cleaning that they deemed necessary. Which cool, I can handle someone saying I have poor gums and I need a different cleaning. But the real kicker was when the insurance fraud came into the mix. They said I would need to pay for this cleaning and the code they pulled up wasn't covered by my insurance. When I questioned it, the lady said it's because of the type of insurance I had. All just lies to try to get me to pay cash and I assume just bill the insurance anyway. You think because we live near the Whole Foods we're all idiots with money, right? Guess again. I knew she was most likely lying so I played along and said I would need to come back another day. She gave me the sheet that also had my list of procedures that needed to get done. A fancy crown was on the list and they made sure to try to scam me on that as well. Once I got home and ran the codes with my insurance sheet and then again with the insurance rep, they tried to over charge me by about $500.00. I can say I am not shocked, just disappointed that they lived up to my expectations. I had a feeling they would try to con me in someway and I was right. They also listed things on the sheet as if my insurance covered even a portion of it. That was most certainly not the case and I would of owed some money for sure. So to the staff and the crew running this pirate ship, I highly recommend you reconsider these practices. I called you yesterday and was told I would get a call back to go over these charges. This practice is amazing!! From Kristine at the front desk to the doctor herself. Dr Pierre-Jerome went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of quickly so I could leave town to fight fires. I have gone to other modern dentistry offices and chandler is by far the best. This is also the first time I haven't had to get nitrous to have work done. The dental assistant and doctor made me feel comfortable throughout the procedure. They even kept asking if I was doing ok, never had a dentist ask me that and actually care what my answer was! Kristine in the front was amazing as well. She made me feel welcome the moment I walked in and led me step by step through the process. I've never seen any better customer service at any medical practice. As a paramedic I know that it's important that your patients feel comfortable, you all did that! My faith in dentistry was restored after visiting Chandler Modern Dentistry, both yesterday and today. After two horrible experiences at Gentle Dental Scottsdale, I was desperate for a new dentist and unsure I could find a reliable place that would accept my insurance. By sheer luck, they were listed as a TDA provider and they were able to fit me in for an emergency visit a few hours later. My emergency didn't end up being too severe (I won't get into the details), but they were still able to take care of a cavity I had, right then and there. Their technology is super high tech and I was able to watch their nifty reverse 3D printer create my inlay. Also, their x-ray machines are great--no gagging on chunky cardboard or waiting for film to develop. The entire staff was super knowledgeable and personal, and the office was super clean. The staff communicated everything really well (i.e., that they were running a few minutes behind, why things cost a certain amount, the technical/medical stuff, etc.). They even called my insurance to double check the cost in hopes to get my laser cleaning work down a bit. *praise hands emoji* read more

I am not the one to write bad reviews but I just have to warn people about this place! I would choose 0 star if I could!! Dr Jolley is now the main dentist here. This review is in regards to how he now runs the dentistry. Tried to up charge me! I got a second opinion from a different dentist (without mentioning the treatment plan Chandler Modern Dentistry had outlined for me) and it did NOT include any of the up charges the dentist at Modern Dentistry had outlined. After I mentioned I could not afford it and said I wanted to leave, they sent the hygenist, the dentist, the receptionist, and I was NOT able to leave! They just kept rotating. The dentist offered a "free" (aka covered) polished and after I turned it down, they sent two more people until I accepted it. He wanted me to get a CROWN ($$$$) for a tooth that can be fixed with cosmetic bonding (per the second opinion doctor). Crowns are last resort since it basically reduces to a tiny size your original tooth and put a "fake tooth" over it. I spent THREE hours there. Oh and when I booked they said it was at 10:30am but when I showed up they said I was late that it was at 10am. The receptionist was VERY rude. Will not come back. Will not recommend. If you value your time and your money, do not come here. UPDATE -- they billed me for things OUTSIDE of the proposed plan that I did not accept or signed!! They will tell you that they won't charge for xrays because they are digital and taken in house but that's not true!! RUN FROM THIS PLACE! read more

I really liked my experience with Dr. Jollie. He is a great doctor explains everything very well and was very upfront about what he was doing. The main issue I have is with their billing team, they have consistently overbilled me for services that are beyond what my explanation of benefits statement has stated. The insurance is now involved as I've had to file a complaint with them and now going to the better business bureau to file a complaint with them as well. It really sucks because they are not upfront at all. They make you sign these agreements before even doing the service without even getting to read what you're signing. Also even in the agreement it states that they wouldn't bill pass what your insurance shows that you owe and that they would refund any over payments. They are doing nothing of what they stated.They are a bunch of liars and do a very poor business I don't recommend them strongly based on the billing team. The office manager has really done nothing to resolve or assist in getting anything taken care of I've had to dispute the charges to the bank now and file a grievance to the insurance company so that they can resolve it. The sad part is this company owes me money and yet they had the nerve to recently send me a bill telling me that I owe them. It's really sad that a company will try to take a vantage of people when they have insurance that paying a contracted amount but yet they want to bill the customers to try to get more money out of them. read more

I imagine the dentists and hygenists are competent, if they actually follow through with an appointment. The dentists rotate through with regularity. I have nothing bad at all to say about this dentist office, it's by far the best one I've seen & been to in Arizona. The staff are friendly & beyond caring for patient care. I went in for an annual check up & they did my xrays (digitally mind you) up on completion I needed a crown. I was initially slightly scared about going in because it had been soo long. Well the staff was so quick about checking my benefits & giving me my put of pocket costs. Dr. Jolley was the one to work with me & even stayed WAY AFTER business hours to make sure I was properly taken care of. I will forever be grateful for him & his staff for making me feel wanted by the way they took care of me. Most offices would make a patient reschedule if it was an added procedure or too late in the day which is what I was scared of but they didn't. Unfortunately upon insertion of the crown it broke. Luckily Dr. Jolley was willing enough to process another one for me! After such a late night I had forgotten my new patient welcome bag which he was kind enough to walk out to me. Of course I felt entirely bad for making them all stay soo late but I'm glad they were willing due to my work schedule. A couple weeks pass & Dr. Jolley even called me to see how I was doing.
