My only hangup was that we were a little pressed for time so assumed getting in there first we would be able to get in and out for quickly, but it was still a 45 minute breakfast from start to finish. I'm disappointed to leave this review. I live five minutes away and have been to Chandler's numerous times and often during holidays when they serve special buffets. Today is Mother's Day, and my husband, one year old, and I had reservations for Mother's Day brunch at 8:45am. Mornings don't always go as planned with toddlers, so we arrived at 9am. The young hostess was very rude and let us know they can't seat us as the next wave of the brunch buffet is starting at 10:30am and that they're setting up for it. I pleaded and asked if we could eat really quickly and be in and out of there in 30 min. They harshly said no and were not understanding at all. I was pretty bummed they couldn't accommodate us, especially on Mother's Day when they could clearly see I was holding my toddler and we just wanted to get him fed. Unfortunately, due to their lack of customer service, we will not be retuning. I guess there's a reason no locals come and only hotel guests eat here. Very different vibe in customer service than the Alila Marea down the street which I would highly recommend instead for better service, views, and food. And who wrote that cranky review? Me. Still, seven years is a long time, and they have a beautiful patio with a great ocean view, so I decided to give it another try. I'm glad I did. Service may have been painfully slow on my last visit, but this time our service was provided by Nathan and Eric, who were excellent. We ordered: * Chuck Brisket Cheeseburger (medium rare) - Smoked cheddar, beefsteak tomato, shredded iceberg lettuce, grilled onions, chipotle aioli. With French Fries. $25 * Baby Wedge Salad - Smoked Nueske bacon, heirloom tomatoes, blue cheese crumble, house ranch, Everything Bagel sprinkles, house ranch dressing, fresh dill. $17 * Iced Tea. $4 Our food arrived in about 15 minutes. This award-winning establishment features California Coastal Cuisine with menus that continue to evolve with innovation and craft. Stunning Pacific Ocean views are all around coupled with very professional, top-shelf service. Everyone we encountered were so genuine, thoughtful, and friendly. They really did a great job recognizing my recent birthday in an elegant and dignified fashion. We stayed at the resort for a couple of nights and the standout for me was their outdoor seating and firepits. The vibe is decidedly comfortable and welcoming. Their bar features an impressive menu of craft cocktails that we enjoyed. Particularly the "Cocoa Trace". For brunch I ordered the Chef's Omelet. When it was served, I noticed the eggs were more brown than yellow, but the delicious array of fillings made up for that. Particularly the generous amount of smoked ham and baby peppers. It was my wife's birthday and our server Janai brought us a desert with a candle. She was awesome and helped us with everything we needed. Great attitude as well. Dinner sucked even after he stopped playing because my hearing was blown out like a rock concert. My uncle was in from out of town and no one at the table could hear each other speaking. We also ordered chocolate milk for the kids and it was terrible. They definitely used a powder packet and I think they didn't even attempt to fully mix the powder before serving it. 1st thing, we were not told about the Pre Fixe Menu, and though we realize it was normal for a restaurant to have one on a pre holiday meal ( Christmas Eve) it would have been appreciated to know before. 2nd the hostess attempted to seat us outside on the patio saying, "you will be next to the portable heater." Came in for brunch with a friend and his wife Sunday 7/20/25 and ended up having one of the better dining experiences I've had in North County. Went there last Sunday. Was there for A Birthday Celebration . They have this Brunch Menu which is only So-So. While the descriptions of each meal offered sounded wonderful, what came out was anything but. First let me say that our waiter was BAKED. He obviously had some fun before/during his shift. He disappeared multiple times, for much longer than average periods of times. Our drinks took a long time as well to come out. The food however, was well below average. From well overcooked Eggs Benedict's (I really should have returned them at first viewing), to pancakes that weren't even fluffy, looked anemic, and like they'd been through the wringer. The only thing that "looked" decent was the Salmon Flatbread, if only it tasted like it looked. With the reviews, We at least expected a decent meal, but we were sorely mistaken. During my stay at Cape Rey, I had breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Chandler's. It's attached to the hotel, but candidly it was the only restaurant around. My colleagues and I had dinner on the outdoor patio around 6:30pm on a Tuesday night. We had a prix fixe menu with up to 5 courses: appetizer, soup, salad, entree, and a dessert. Their sourdough boule with truffle bone marrow butter and pesto was out of this world. We had other appetizers passed around including brussels sprouts and plantains with guacamole. I didn't bother to try the other appetizers, because I couldn't get over how good the bread and truffle bone marrow butter was. The soup that came out was a tortilla soup, which was delicious. The salad wasn't memorable. I kind of picked at it so that I could make room for my entree of choice: the 8oz filet mignon. The steak was cooked to medium rare perfection, and I enjoyed its accroutrements. I chose the dark chocolate ganache for my dessert, and it was lovely and rich. Loved its crunchy feuilletine. The following day I had breakfast. I kept it simple and got a side order of toast and 1 egg any style. I asked for scrambled eggs, and honestly could've fooled me that it was just 1 egg. I felt like it was a decent sized scramble! Lastly, I had lunch later that same day. I ordered a wedge with grilled chicken. Although the salad was tasty, it was a bit heavy on the saltiness. Overall I would say that I liked the food at Chandler's, and the service was great. I've heard twice from two different colleagues that the lobster roll was bomb, so I'll have to try that for next time. read more

I came here for brunch last Sunday with a group of friends and it was a disaster! There were 10 of us, and the wait staff seemed overwhelmed by the size of our party. Each of us took our turn ordering, and the server went down the row in either side of the table (we didn't jump around). Food took forever to arrive, and when it was finally delivered to our table, our orders got mixed up, delivered to the wrong person. Many of us got each other's order by mistake. I ordered the crab cakes benedict with a side salad. I requested salad dressing on the side so I could control the amount of dressing. Sadly, I had the following issues with my dish: 1. The eggs were not poached correctly. They were a soft boil instead of having a runny yolk. 2. The 2 tiny crab cakes were inconsistently seasoned. Both were dry (over fried), but one was flavorless while the other was extremely salty. 3. I received no dressing for my salad. The mixed greens were also wilted and not fresh. 4. My dish was missing chives on top of the eggs (everyone else had chives on theirs). 5. The crab cakes were cold. Four of us ordered the crab cakes benedict and all 4 of us had issues with our dish. When we mentioned the eggs to the manager, she replaced the soft boiled eggs with the properly poached eggs, but they were delivered to us in a bowl with water. It would have been nice if they had drained the eggs. We appreciated the replacement though. We mentioned the inconsistent crab cakes, but there was no offer to fix them. For the ladies who did not order crab cakes, they also had problems with their dish. The lobster hash was cold. The French toast with a side of bacon was missing the bacon and the small maple syrup jar was nearly empty, there was barely enough. A carafe of coffee was delivered to the table, but there was a delay in bringing the creamer and sugar. The coffee was cold by the time the creamer and sugar arrived at the table. There was a delay in bringing out more hot coffee. Empty water glasses were never replenished. Overall, we received very poor service. Our main server was extremely rude. We had the impression that because we were a large party, the 20% gratuity was a guarantee and already included in our tab so the server simply did not care. She threw the bill on our table, rolled her eyes, and walked off. Well guess what?!?! I had the 20% gratuity removed. Large party or not, we're not paying 20% gratuity for crappy service! Here's a tip: Don't show up to work with an attitude if you expect good tip. Nothing is guaranteed. The food was bad and the service was even worse. It's such a shame, because the restaurant was beautiful and had a beautiful view of the beach. There is a parking garage that offers free parking for the first 2 hours, but if you dine at the restaurant, your parking ticket can be validated. Well they didn't validate our tickets. With all of the delays and endless waiting, we were at the restaurant for 3.5 hours! Instead of validating our tickets, they told us to hit the "help" button and someone at the front desk will open the gate. We pushed the button at least 10 times before they opened the gate. This was a dining nightmare! I expected more from what appeared to be a fine establishment. read more

My colleagues and I went to dinner Friday night and had the most amazing time. Jill was our server and she was just the most charming waiter I ever had!!!! She was do welcoming and definitely someone who loves her job and it shows!!!! She was a walking sunshine. Everyone on Friday night were very helpful and a joy to talk too. The sunset views were espectacular, the place is so well decorated, very clean. The food was delicious as well. Jill informed us that everything was locally resource from the ocean in front of us to the farms not far from there. How some specialty cocktails were created by their bartenders too. Her vibe was everything!!!! Specially after such a long workday for us. We loved her!!!! The next day, we decided to pick up coffee to have by the pool. The young lady on the front was great!!! We had such a lovely conversation with her. After some pool time, we decided to have brunch there as well. Total different vibe, night and day literally. A well mannered gentleman wearing a checkered white and red shirt came by asking if we have been greeted yet. We haven't, we had a small nice conversation with him. Our waiter was very dry, to the point, no personality. She bumped into my friend's grapefruit juice and got it all over the table, it happens was her response and the young guy who take care of that was extremely apologetic. Her attitude through my colleagues off, to the point they asked if they said something that might offend her. We also had an American Express dining credit that helped bring down the bill even more. Otherwise, to be honest, we probably would've chosen to explore other restaurants in the area since there are quite a few better options nearby. Dinner: * Clam Chowder: 4/10 -- didn't enjoy it; the flavor fell flat. * Poke: 7/10 -- my husband really liked this one. * Kids Burger & Fries: 3/10 -- fries were great, but the burger itself was disappointing. This has been the best meal we've ever had at a Hilton stay! From the service to the experience to the food, it has really been a highlight of our vacation. First off, my partner and I were (un)lucky enough to get pooped on by a bird during outdoor dining (a natural risk of a beachside environment, no fault on the restaurant whatsoever!). The response from the service team and the manager, Greg, was incredible! They took care of us well, shared some laughs, and were very considerate in remaking our food and making sure we were all good. Aside from that little accident, we had a warm welcome from the hostess Maya and absolutely attentive, wonderful service from our server Justin and Rigo - kind, patient, considerate, the list could go on! The food was delicious! The clam chowder and sourdough boule were a yummy start. We ordered the chuck brisket burger - crispy fries, nice char on the patty, and a tasty sauce. The cioppino had very nice portions of seafood and paired perfectly with the garlic bread. The spring spritz and sugar cookie cocktails were also lovely. Went here for our anniversary dinner while we stayed in the Hilton hotel where this restaurant is and loved the overall experience. Not cheap but worth it. Overall I would recommend this place if expense is not a thing for you. Here are my takes: Food/Drinks: Food tastes great. We ordered a bunch if things and nothing tasted bad or below average. Service: Very sweet server and overall staff was very nice. Everything was quick and organized from the order to the delivery. Ambiance: Ocean facing dining and plenty of outdoor indoor seating with nice decor. Worth for a romantic dinner needs. Hygiene: No complaints at all. Everything was top notch. Price: We spend some $250+ that night and can say it is not average or reasonable. It about experience here. I must change my review.. my niece frequently walks her dog & stops by Chandler's on the regular. She said that Jake is such a great dude & the other young gentleman need a good review as well. She got to talking to them & they are local boys & are solid humans. I think perhaps they were under staffed all the times I was there but my niece has nothing but rave reviews about the place. She seems totally bothered by smiling and greeting customer which is her main job. Most of the fruit was not ripe and the house made bread was a cold piece of cake. I also ordered chilaquiles and it was just tortilla chips soaked in enchilada sauce. It was also lukewarm. My husband ordered the crab Benedict and the bread was burnt in the egg was well done. We were very disappointed as we drove over an hour to have brunch there. We live about a mile away from this place, and on a nice Sunday, decided to go hit it up - primarily because we'd read on Yelp about the incredible views. The first thing we discovered is that this is a hotel property - which usually means convenient for guests, but over priced. We decided to give it a shot anyways, and sat outside on the patio to soak in the sun and enjoy the view (which, btw, is spectacular). I ordered a beer while my wife ordered a chard, and decided to split a calamari appetizer (couldn't resist - love my squid!). The calamari arrived - definitely NOT your typically prepared California version - this had macadamia nuts and a very interesting (but tasty) dipping sauce. We liked it enough to finish it, definitely. Bottom line, while we can't comment on the meals, certainly the ambiance, the views, and at least the calamari make it worth checking out. read more
