This review is strictly about HH. My sister and I arrived here at the Hilton Garden Inn in Carlsbad with about a half hour left to enjoy HH. We perused the menu but I just went with my usual French 75 while my sister enjoyed a Lemon Drop. The bar area is not very big but this restaurant is located inside a hotel. You may take your drinks on the outdoor patio which is what we did. We sat near the fireplace and just relaxed before going to get dinner. The bartender was friendly and service was great. They also serve food here including breakfast, lunch and dinner but we never dined here. When on the coast, HH is always more fun. read more

Being the Hilton diamond members ,Hilton is always my first choice But this coffee shop ruined my experience The staff was very rude,specially the lady server there We went there & sat down as a family ! We ordered 3 individual & 1 buffet pick up As soon I started to pick up my bfast from the buffet section,the lady came & embarrassed me by saying "You can't pick up food from here" in front of everyone! & I was like oh I am sorry & then she said u can have as you have buffet But one should know how to talk to their customers! I decided to have breakfast at this in-hotel restaurant one morning. I had the "continental all you can eat breakfast" for $14. In my opinion, it is a decent option if you want just oatmeal and toast. The coffee that I was served was stale, but the staff was closing up. I arrived 15min before breakfast was ending. I was told by the hotel that breakfast was over at 10a. That means that they start packing up the breakfast buffets and clearing customers' bills at 9:30a. They still accepted me for the continental AYCE breakfast at 9:45a. It was a bit disappointing. Besides my coffee being super stale...The pastries served were the cheap ones, with no real filling nor icing, and they were hard. The toast breads were scarce. The oatmeal was mushy, well it was the end of breakfast service, so I understood. I do not recommend this breakfast. The food is not good. The staff is very nice and kind, but the food is very bad. read more

While staying at the Hilton Garden Inn in Carlsbad I ate at their restaurant for breakfast and enjoyed the breakfast buffet for $24. I was very impressed with the service and quality of food. I travel a lot throughout the U.S. and around the world and have never had bacon perfectly cooked like I did here. In fact everything I had was perfect. Nothing undercooked or over cooked. The bacon wasn't cooked to where it was too crunchy and it didn't sit in a lot of grease. The mini waffles were delicious and the eggs weren't runny or sat in water. My only complaint was for dinner when I went to order a cheeseburger the server informed me that they were out of burgers. Since this is a popular hotel with a lot of guests with children seems like they should always have plenty of burgers. But other than that the food was delicious. read more

Tina is an amazing bartender and server!! I absolutely loved every drink and enjoyed our banter. the salad i got was SO good. 10/10. i got the ceasar, added chicken, bacon, an egg and feta cheese. the chef, patrick, quite literally made it perfectly! i was so satisfied and happy with everything. linda, the other server was also so sweet as well. i would definitely come here to chill, eat and drink again. it's a chill environment, i was able to get work done while enjoying my food and drink. read more

We came here for dinner and happy hour. I would say the food was great!!! We tried the short rib tacos, chicken wings, chips and salsa, quesadilla, hummus, chicken strips and the flourless cake!!! The crispness of the chicken was perfect complemented with the honey siracha sauce! Yummm!!!! The star that made our experience unforgettable though is Erica! She was absolutely wonderful! From the moment we arrived, she made us feel so welcome. She was warm, attentive, and checked in often without ever being overbearing. Her recommendations were spot-on and really elevated our dining experience. It's rare to find service that feels both professional and genuinely caring--she truly made our visit memorable. I cook. I smoke meat. I understand how to make good Mac n cheese with brisket. I ordered the Mac n Cheese with Brisket. It was like Kraft Mac and Cheese with canned smoked meat on top for $30. Came out 30 minutes after ordering. The service is great. Kind staff and awesome space in the Hilton. The prices here what bring it to a one star rating. If the same dish were $8, I would feel that the price point met the value. But charging down town San Diego gourmet prices for 2am street food for drunk people isn't it. read more

This restaurant was a spur of the moment stop and left full and happy. We had our pup with us and the outdoor dining was perfect with ocean views. The setting was casual with very clean settings and modern decor. The service on Sunday afternoon was fast and the server was very friendly. The food was tasty and very filling we left with half our pasta for dinner. I had the fettuccine al pollo and my wife had the pesto fettuccine. Really simple but flavorful. Most of the servers appear to be working from home, although there were about 4-5 staff when I walked in for breakfast. One other table of guests was already sitting down. After I was seated, someone else came over immediately to hand me a menu and ask what I'd like to drink. And when I responded with "Nothing for now," as I was contemplating between a coffee or juice, she seemed annoyed. After a good 3 minutes, I decided on their All American Breakfast but wanted to ask what juices were available, since they weren't specified. So I waited until she'd come back. Unfortunately, I sat there waiting, as I watched two of the ladies talking away behind the bar. I tried getting the server's attention, but she wouldn't even look my way. Waited and waited. And then a lady, a guest, walked in then just seated herself. As my assigned server finished her convo, the two of them disappeared just like the other 2 I had seen earlier. For some reason, all of the staff except for one helping the other table were back in the kitchen. Still, I waited and waited. It may not seem all that long, but I must have wasted a good 15 minutes, considering the 4-5 available staff with no one as to even look my way. It was only then, when I walked over to ask the front desk for a listing of alternative places to have breakfast, that someone seemed to care. Because another server walking towards the front lobby noticed walked straight over to the front desk area. She then interrupted our conversation to ask, "Did we forget about you?" The place needs to get it together. Because apparently, it appears to be a common theme in the reviews. The funny thing is, even one of the reviews before me had posted a photo of "The crowd." Unintentionally, the photo showed a crowd of guests WITH NO SERVERS ANYWHERE IN THE PHOTO. Also, there was even a table that seemed to be where guests had finished eating. I have been waiting for 25 minutes for a Cesar salad. The servers has been in and out of the kitchen multiple times without looking over to see if I needed a refill ? She had 3 tables with a total of 7 people counting myself. This is utterly ridiculous for a Hilton brand hotel restaurant. The whole staff is horrible. We were still a bit jet lagged and tired after a full workday so we opted to just eat dinner here at the Hilton Garden Inn vs venture out. We were pleasantly surprised! My husband had the fish tacos. And sometimes you get just a small sliver of fish, but these were very well stacked. I had the salmon (perfectly cooked) and they did a great job of navigating my food, allergies and put together a bit of a customized dish which I really appreciated. The place gets too loud in the morning - as we had experienced it very much. It wasn't young crowd it was obnoxious grown people. I was expecting we will be the one going to be loud as we have kids in our party, but no. So, if you're not awake yet during the morning rush prepare to experience it. But again, it depends on the crowd in house. As we sat down, the server isn't too attentive to details - missing items here and there. We ordered minimal items as we had a la cart menu and its almost closing time - but that doesn't mean you wont go above and beyond right? The food was good and hot. Nothing too fancy, it's homey and delicious. Our server mistook our order wrong and not very apologetic as i may say. I don't normally take it seriously cause remember there was a loud crowd - but not be apologetic? Uhmm... it could be better. We still tip our server - no thank you or anything. Menu is small and food was actually really good when they had the product. We stayed at the hotel a week and it was convenient to eat meals at the restaurant before and after the beach. We had the Salmon, the Shrimp Tacos, hummus plate, flat bread and a few other items on the menu. There was one woman who gave great service and made great drinks, she was a mature woman and I believe she had reddish hair. The other servers were absolutely the worst I have ever have encountered even in the morning when we had the buffet they didn't help numerous other tables people were waiting at the bar for help in lines for simple things like coffee refills, silverware, water. I stay at this Hilton regularly and love the breakfast. Quick and clean with beautiful full view of the ocean. They have a great happy hour and I've tried almost everything on the menu after staying here so many times. It's perfect for any meal but the breakfast and dinner menu are what I'm most familiar with. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone staying here. read more

Carlsbad Beach Bistro receives two stars. It receives one of those stars solely for the very nice lady who was my server. She was attentive and friendly. However, the actual food receives one star. I went with the spicy Caesar with shrimp. The lettuce was yellow. The shrimp was pre-made and frozen. Not what you'd expect in coastal California. And, to add insult to injury, the salad was overpriced. If you have a car, go grab your meals from one of the many fine establishments nearby. Ok, so it has been renamed Coast 6450. My wife and I ate here tonight...just 3 app...it was sensational. First of all, the view at sunset is super nice on the patio. The weather was Carlsbad perfect, so a great start. We had wings, sliders and flatbread...uninspiring bar food??? No freaking way!!! The wings were lightly crispy on the outside and deliciously tender and juicy on the inside. Obviously some prep went into these. Highly recommended. Ketchup, for me, is a staple on hamburgers and fries. Without it, life isn't worth loving. Sliders...with some crazy "bacon jam" OMG! Do it! I didn't want ketchup!!! Wake me when it's over. The meat lovers flat bread was last to come out. I was expecting some anticipointment because the previous two items were so good...ummmm...nope! It was awesome as well. It's a casual vibe here and I highly recommend spending some evening on the patio here during sunset. Did I mention my Jack and coke was "home strength". No skimping here! This is the restaurant inside the Hilton Garden Inn, and the breakfast was good. We got the buffet which includes juice or coffee, and all kinds of eggs, omelettes, pancakes, bacon, potatoes, cereal and fruit. Your eggs are made-to-order so it's nice to know that you're getting something fresh, not sitting out under some heat lamp. The bagels & English muffins are a do-it-yourself kind of thing, and there is a toaster with jellies & cream cheese on the side. I think I also saw oatmeal at the hot foods, but you'll have to ask for it. The servers are very friendly, asking what else you have planned for the day, and our server checked on us a few times. The sugar packets are tucked inside these tiny Le Creuset pots, which I thought was a nice touch & very fancy. A couple of seats have views of the ocean and there is patio seating as well, so if the weather is nice you'll have a beautiful view. Breakfast is about $15 per head, and kids are free. It's so convenient to run downstairs for a nice breakfast, instead of having to drive somewhere. Worth a try if you're staying at the Hilton Garden Inn. read more

While this is a hotel restaurant, do not let that dissuade you from at least giving it a try. Unlike other restaurants, here you really can have nice personal service. Malcolm, Mike, Sam and the others are all fantastic servers and actually care for what your needs are. Had a tough day and need a stronger drink? They will do it. The bottom line is not important to these folks, the service is. The drinks? The bartenders are very good at what they do. You never feel cheated with a drink from these guys, and if you dont like something they will just make you something else. Beer selection is solid, but dont be afraid to grab something from the hotel pantry which has 20 more beers to pick from. Liquor pours here are strong and never watered down. The food is pretty good here if you are looking for something better than your average hotel. The grilled chicken sandwich with the red pepper and toasted cheese is super tasty. The burger is solid, so have them add some bbq sauce and bacon to kick it up. The pulled pork sliders are excellent, but if you want a great app get the wings. No hotel has a right to put out wings this incredibly good. Honestly these are the best hot wings I have ever had. Overall if you want to have a meal at a place that is different than your average restaurant, give this place a shot. read more

Tucked in the Hilton, this place has some nice surprises on the menu. Better than average food for the area. Talented Chef. Creative. Flavorful food. Among other things, the chef and cooks actually prepare a wonderful and fluffy egg white omelet. Good ones are hard to find. They also make excellent cookies Oatmeal Raisin, Macadamia and Chocolate Chip cookies. My husband and I were staying at a hotel down the road when we found this restaurant online and decided to eat here for lunch. The food was great and the service from Luis was amazing! My husband ordered buffalo wings and fries and I ordered one of their sandwiches (I can't remember the name). Luis even brought us a small desert when he found out we were celebrating on our honeymoon. This review is for breakfast only. Sadly, this breakfast is emblematic of what hotel breakfasts have become: some cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, bread, token fruit all laid out for who knows how many days. The hot options include sausages and bacon of unknown origin and of course potatoes that end up over-cooked and tasteless. The two stars comes from the fact there is an egg/waffle station where these items are made to order. The service is otherwise non-existent. I got one small cup of surprisingly decent coffee, but no offers of a refill. Overall, boring, bland, and not at all satisfying.
