Now let's be real parking here is always an adventure because there are food trucks everywhere. You basically circle around hoping somebody leaves so you can slide in real quick. They added a table outside now too so you can actually sit there, eat your tacos, and people watch while cars squeeze through the parking lot chaos lol. Horrible service! As soon as we walked in I knew it wasn't going to be good. They didn't even acknowledge us as we walked in and didn't even greet us. Great spot for some Mexican bbq chicken, either for lunch or dinner. They have a good amount of seating inside and outside if you wish to eat in, but they also offer take out. Dang, I was really looking forward to trying Tacos La Piedad because my patient's family had brought these tacos in one day and the smell alone filled his room and it was sooooo good! I tried the carne asada. I wish I would have known that the tacos come "plain Jane" (peep my picture). When I opened my to go container, it was literally just the corn tortilla and meat, it was missing cilantro, onions annnnnd salsa. The meat was a bit on the salty side and could have used a couple squeezes from some lime wedges to off set the saltiness. The meat was also slightly over cooked and dry. Tacos La Piedad is a stand alone food truck that only accepts cash. Please note: the surrounding area isn't in the best part of town. While I was standing in line for my food, there was an aggressive homeless man trying to haggle me for something. I grabbed my food and left with the quickness. I was on the way to El Pollo Loco when I noticed smoke coming from a huge grill in the parking lot of La Piedad. Intrigued, I bookmarked the business and promised to come back to try their chicken. A few days later, I came back and ordered one of their combo meals -2 pieces of chicken (breast and wing), rice, beans and 4 corn tortillas and a delicious salsa that went perfectly with my lunch. The setup at La Piedad is similar to other taquerias in the area. For example, the menu is above the cash register, and there is a chips and salsa bar for you to enjoy while you are waiting for your meal. Speaking of salsa, the version that comes with your chicken is not available in the salsa bar. While delicious on their own, the other salsas (green and red) don't compare to their signature salsa. The flavor profile of the salsa that they keep away from the salsa bar is a perfect complement to the citrus marinade in the chicken. There is something special about this place. Family owned and operated, the food comes out fresh, fast, and delicious. In fact, my food came out before I even had a chance to collect my chips and salsa. I was so impressed with Las Piedad that I brought my wife and 3 children back a few days later to share the experience. Needless to say, my family was equally impressed with the quality of food, and friendly customer service. Full disclosure- La Piedad offers a variety of menu items and different meat options. However, the chicken is what brought me here, and they do it very well. Why would I try anything else? That would be like ordering fish at a steakhouse. As a result, I couldn't tell you if any of their "other" menu items are on par with the chicken.
