I went to Smile Studio 87, 2019 87th St., Woodridge, after chipping my two front teeth, expecting a basic evaluation and options to fix the chips. Instead, I was told immediately that I "needed" Invisalign. Dr. Sumayyah Khan flat-out said she could do nothing about the chipped teeth. That's unacceptable! From the start, the entire visit felt like a high-pressure sales pitch, not dental care. I was rushed and bombarded by the doctor and staff, and the focus quickly shifted to pushing Invisalign instead of addressing the actual problem I came in for. The quote was $4,000. It was never addressed by Dr. Khan in prior visits until I came in for an "emergency " visit. It was an insulting for the benefit of their office commission sales. Bottom line: I felt dismissed, pressured, and not properly evaluated. If you want a dentist who prioritizes patient care over UPSELLING, go somewhere else. I do NOT recommend Smile Studio 87. read more

Smile Studio installed a crown. It was really worse. They guy who took the crown measurement was not knowledgeable. I bleed a lot, because of the wrong measurements taken. When i called Dr Khan told everything g is fine. I saw in the X ray it was really bigger crown. It was too big or not aligned properly, it irritated the surrounding gum. I felt redness, swelling, or even bleeding near the crown. I went and fixed in the other place. Honestly, I would never recommend anyone wanting to crown installed. Overall, I really enjoy Smile Studio 87. My hygienist recently, Diane, was so efficient with getting X-Rays completed and with my cleaning. She also gave me pragmatic tips for keeping my teeth extra clean, which I appreciated. Only constructive feedback I have: - the dentists push Invisalign way too much. I received a 5 minute pitch as to why I need Invisalign, despite graciously declining - the confirmation process is overkill - I received 3 e-mails / texts ahead of the appointment, and then one the morning of. I was concerned with the cost and the time it will take to complete the treatment and Mo(the dental hygienist) and Dr. Khan explained everything to me throughly. I explained his pain and asked for a script to be sent in quickly to the cvs near you, to get him started in some relief. After some confusion and a few phone calls you gave him an appointment. He came to see you and discovered you only do cosmetic dentistry, and his pain and potential abscess wasn't something you take care of. If your staff knew your business and directed me to find a proper dds, I would have. You guys wasted my husbands' time and left him in pain. I asked him where his script was for infection, and he said they didn't give him one. I called, again, and asked why it hadn't been sent to cvs. Your "help" told me "I guess we forgot". The treatment I've experienced at Smile Studio 87 has been wonderful, every interaction with Dr. Khan, Brandi, Kamilia, Pie and Michelle was professional. I personally had a cleaning, five cavity fillings and a cosmetic appliance done here and I was happy from start to finish. I can tell every single staff member really cares about the patient and is very knowledgeable. Brandi in particular was very kind and understanding throughout every single visit - which helped calm my nerves during the procedures. The only possible improvement I could think of is the constant check ins - I received three emails, a text message and a phone call to remind me of one appointment which is a bit much for me. After many years of not going to the dentist, I chose Smile Studio 87 because it was close to my work and had favorable reviews online. I was not disappointed. The staff, from reception to doctor, was very friendly and explained things very well. They did not judge me about my long-neglected dental care, but were supportive and positive about my finally deciding to seek dental care. I take away one star for a small grievance. The dentist was urging me to purchase an electric toothbrush. She told me that they get deals on them from arrangements that they have with suppliers; that the toothbrush would be cheaper to buy through them. I went for it and bought an Oral B Precision 1000 for $55. I get home and check Amazon; they sell them for $35. I understand trying to sell me products; I understand mark-up and making money, but the dentist lied to my face. Maybe she was misinformed, and it was an innocent mistake. I will give her the benefit of the doubt. I will be returning to Smile Studio 87, but I will be hesitant to purchase any more products through them. read more

The staff at Smile Studio 87 are extremely polite, happy, courteous and knowledgeable. I always feel like a thorough job is done with cleanings and other dental work I have received (a cavity --- boo!). There are 2 reasons why I did not rate this place 5 stars. The first reason is they are a bit too pushy with "extra" work. I understand a business wants to sell its product, but if I don't want braces for my lower teeth, or I don't want a whitening treatment, or I don't want this or that, please don't keep mentioning it and pushing the issue. I will not be guilted into purchasing extra services when I don't want them. It can be a bit much. On the other side, I know they are a business. Money isn't made unless all of the options are expressed to the customer. The second reason I rate them a 4 (3.5, if I could) is that they are ALWAYS running late. I don't know what it is. I am currently writing this review in the lobby of the dentist office right now. It is 10:25 and my appointment was at 10. I was 5 minutes early. I am the only one sitting here in the office. The weirder thing? The dentist office called me at 9:30 to ask if I could come in earlier because they were ahead of schedule. If you are planning on "squeezing in" your dental appointment one day, these people (as nice and helpful as they are) are in no rush to adhere to their schedule OR yours. They're thorough and pleasant once you're in the dentist chair (albeit a bit pushy), but slow and inconsiderate of your schedule. I'd recommend them for dental cleaning, but be aware of how long it will take you to get your cleaning/procedure done. EDIT: I walked out of the dentist office at 11:40 am. 1 hour and 40 minutes from arrival for a yearly dental cleaning. read more

Dr. Khan is wonderful and so are the technicians and staff. First of all, it smells amazing in the office. I feel like I'm walking into a field of lilacs! I had the best cleaning I've ever had at this location, so I've moved my entire family. It's closer to work than home, but it is worth the drive. The team is accommodating and patient. Emergency Line, I do not think so. I called several times on Sunday and Monday morning. I was told the Dr was on vacation with no backup. The office assistant told me that she would try and reach the Dr, to get me a prescription to help with my pain, still no call back after an hour and a half. I called several times no answer, so I left a voicemail that I would come in I got a call. I ask if the part time Dr could help me. I was told NO. I received a call from the office manager that I needed to step it down a notch even though I was in pain from an infected tooth. From a phone call she new exactly what was wrong and why I was in pain? She was going to check me and set me straight today? OH told me to go to another DR and they would reimburse me? I went to this so called dentist because she was where I was insured. She is the rudest and worst dentist that I have ever met. She wouldn't listen to me or fix any of her or her labs mistakes. She stood by her work whether it's was right or wrong, and for me she didn't even fill my cavities right. And my partials were awful. I think she and her lab got their degrees from a cracker jack box. They definitely do kindergarten work! I went to two other dentists to get a second and third opinion of her work. The 1st dentist said my top partials were garbage and I needed new ones and agreed that she incorrectly filled a cavity and left ridges when they should have been smoothed. The second dentist said that if the lab sent him my top partial, he would have immediately sent them back because they weren't made right for my mouth. Instead, Kahn shoved them in my mouth while I was numb. He also agreed that she didn't fill that cavity correctly and left like 5 ridges. All of which he smoothed out for me. And cavities do not appear over night, she missed that part of the cavity and was going to charge me for another filling instead of admitting her mistake. He and his assistant felt sorry for me and actually listened to me and fixed everything she screwed up! He fixed my bite that she refused to fix. He smothed every tooth she filled. He fixed the dentures that still aren't right, but at least they are in my mouth now and in a few weeks will fix them 100%. He fixed all of her mistakes for $25.00 because he is a caring dentist who takes pride in his work and genuinely wants me to have a smile I will be happy with; Unlike Kahn. She wouldn't do anything I asked. My dentures sat in a box for 2 months while I went without 2 front teeth because she refused to return them to the lab, or even do anything so they would fit in my mouth. She had me regretting that I chose her to get my teeth fixed. I definitely lost trust in her when every tooth she worked on was in pain from the fillings. When she told me the tooth she worked on developed a new cavity and that she would be charging me for another filling, I knew she was a quack doctor and is only in it for the money. She's NOT a kind, caring dentist. She doesn't care about anybody or anything except her wallet. I'm sorry I unfortunately helped line it for her. The good news is that after getting those second opinions, I found myself a new dentist and now I have a smile that I can be proud of. No thanks to Kahn. If you are looking for a new dentist, I suggest you skip her and keep looking. If you are seeing her as your dentist, good luck! I would not trust her. She is a terrible dentist! read more

I came here after the dentist I've had for my whole life retired. I was drawn here because it's close and the entire business is staffed by women, which I love! My first visit was very long; about 2 hours. I've never had so many X-rays done of my teeth. It seemed a little excessive, but after the cleaning my teeth were the cleanest they've ever looked, so I decided it was worth it! I made an appointment to have some small chips fixed in my bottom teeth and came back about a week later. The process was quick and painless. I neglected to schedule my annual dental care for the year prior to my insurance benefits running out for the year. I called the office and explained my situation. They worked me in so I wouldn't forfeit any of my insurance benefits for the year. The office is at a convention and easily accessible location. Everyone is professional and courteous. Dr. Khan is amazingly kind, gentle and walks you through the whole process. However, Dr. Sukovic was unfriendly and acted I as if I wasn't present. Not once during the exam did she introduce herself, address me directly and then left the room without saying anything. This office by far exceeds all dental expectations. I have gone to the same dentist out of comfort for 19 years, and this is the first office I switched to that made me feel beyond cared for. My hygienist was powerful yet gentle, and Dr. Kahn is kind of a magician.. If there was a "zero" star review, I would definitely pick that one. Dr. Khan and her staff are sharks! I came in to get my routine periodontal cleaning and a recement of crown done with new insurance plans and they told me that my insurance plan has a waiting period and that they won't cover anything at all. Meaning I would have to pay for everything 100% which is not true because my husband ( we have the same insurance plan) just went to another dentist (he used to go to dr. Khan too but he switched because he couldn't stomach going back to her anymore) and he just paid our deductible which was $50! He had periodontal cleaning done as well. When Dr khan finally came in the room (after I waited for 45mins) and I told her why I would have to pay 100% and told her about my husband not having to do that, she couldn't explain anything. Instead, she went out and talked to her receptionists and this girl Lyn, came back to my room and told me I would have to pay $46 for the recement of the crown (I told them that's all I wanted done that day since it was the most important one). Let me tell you that earlier, they wouldn't tell me how much I was paying for the service at all! Now the worst part, not even a week after and my crown came out again! I understand that there could be another reason for this but when I called their office and told them what had happened, I talked to Vanessa and I was informed that I would have to pay again for the recement! When I tried to explain to her that it didn't even last a week she was very rude in telling me that they can't possibly not charge for a service that they're going to do to fix a "problem" that they didn't cause at all!!! I never write bad reviews but this one, I can't possibly pass. This office is also very pushy in offering other services that you really don't need. I just scheduled an appointment with another dentist (the one where my husband is now going to) and they couldn't believe that she charged me 100% for the recement and WANT to charge me AGAIN for the second one! I actually made her say that again because I couldn't believe it!!! You could see that I have 4 check-ins here so This review is not just based on one visit at all. Dr. Khan is more than wonderful and my son raves about her. Since I go elsewhere for my dental care, I always have the displeasure of dealing solely w/the front desk receptionist. She has been unpleasant in the past, but her behavior tonight was truly appalling. My son's appt that I scheduled 6 months ago was cancelled without any notice being given to me. Shockingly, rather than being offered an apology the receptionist was repeatedly insistent that I couldn't have checked my voicemail because "everybody in our system was notified if an insurance change affected their appointment". Wow! How unprofessional and immature to think that in business or in our personal lives the possibility for error doesn't exist. In this case, one bad apple does spoil the bunch. read more

I really love Dr. Khan and her staff. Like many, I do not enjoy having dental work done. However, Dr. Khan and her staff have made it so much easier for me to sit in that chair and get the work done. They are really friendly, always make sure I am feeling ok, and I always leave feeling so much better. As someone who has needed some emergency work done, I haven't minded waiting a little extra here and there over the years for an appointment if they may be running a bit behind.
