Small shop with friendly curbside ordering and pickup during Covid times. Donuts were good though short of elite. Coffee was very good. Service was excellent. Honey Dipped: Glistening exterior, slightly stiff interior. Chocolate honey dipped: Similar to the honey dipped, but with more give and subtle chocolatey flavor. Coconut: The one I least wanted to order was the one that was the brightest star that morning. Two kinds of coconut, densely pa led on the surface, and a soft, fresh interior with ginger notes. A win. Lemon Filled: Another fresh one, with a thick filling more tart than sweet.

A nice neighborhood cafe in Newburyport with friendly workers. I came midmorning during the week and got a few donuts including oreo, strawberry chocolate, lemon filled, and a cinnamon roll. The donuts were really good, soft, pillowy, and good flavors. The lemon filling wasn't too tart, but was still lemony. Tons of oreo toppings made it a great ratio for donut to frosting/topping. On the other hand, the cinnamon roll still had that soft brioche, but was lacking a lot of cinnamon sugar to it. It's like the middle had everything and the sides poofed up with nothing. Overall, a great place to visit and I'd recommend checking this place out.

It was a very intimate experience dining among two other couples ( with three tables inside, Valentine's Day was fully booked! ) Here is what we enjoyed: - Roasted beet, radish, cucumber and snap peas crudites with a fava pate and malawach - Creamy and crispy potato puffs with spicy zchug - A bright and dreamy wedge salad with mushroom bacon and fried shallot - A savory tomato sunchoke soup with artichoke heart - A surprise ravioli and with a warming cream sauce - And choice of dessert, I had a bright lemon tart cake with and my husband had the amaro blonde sundae Dan @rhinokey, the @gossamerdram bar room operator, is a master with his cocktails, sourcing from, supporting local and small businesses where possible. We loved First We Take Manhattan and A Moon Behind the Clouds. Mandarava is one of my absolute favorites in Massachusetts for upscale, excellent pure cooking made from fresh, local ingredients, nothing processed. At least one of the couples we dined with were not vegan and said "If Mary cooked for me every night, I would be vegan". It's that good! This is what we got: - Grape leaves: Delicious stuffed grape leave paired with heart of palm and blood orange. Perfect way to start a delicious dinner. - Vegetable creme soup: I think that was one of the best soups I had in a while. It was super flavorful and light. The crispy brussel sprouts on the top provided some crispiness to the plate. - Chickpea tofu: The combination of the chickpea tofu with the delicata squash was just delightful. I wouldn't even know how to improve the plate if I was asked to... - Pot pie: Perfect bite for a winter. It makes you warm up immediately. The flavors were on point. You only need to be patient with this one, since it takes a while until it cools down and you can really enjoy it as it deserves. - Sweets: The description of this plate was only "cherry, blueberry, strawberry, pear" so we didn't really know what to expect. Well, we were served with a delicious piece of cake. Every bite made you come back for more. If I was asked about something to improve, my only recommendation would be to make sure the waitress describes the plate when served. At least the time we were there, that was not the case. Looking forward to coming back soon!

We both ordered the Brazilian cheese bread sandwich, not because of the GF, but because we loved the little cheese bread balls that we had while visiting friends in Brazil. I ordered with the hash browns, which turned out to be REAL potato made here, not a Mc-patty pulled from the freezer. Great seasoning and perfectly cooked. The sandwich had a little spinach, well cooked egg (not too runny, but maybe a hint more than needed), and smoky bacon on a split cheese bread "roll." It was super hot when served; I finished almost all of my potato before I could eat it - no complaints on temperature. The flavor was really good - and unique. My only concerns were that the bacon was "tough" so that a bite tended to pull out the whole strip. It wasn't bad, but maybe a crispy bacon would bite more cleanly. The other issue, and really the only significant one, was the density of the cheese bread. I expected something similar to the cheese bread balls, which have a texture similar to a good Italian bread (not the squishy supermarket kind). This was almost solid. We've made the cheese bread balls at home, with good success, so I'll try the different shape - maybe for burgers! - and see if it's a challenge. I'll come back to explain if the experiment to make fluffier buns is not successful. Meanwhile, the place filled up and some of the other menu items looked really good. We're very likely to go back for a lunch.

When you walk in, the place is beautiful- sort of modern rustic chic with beautiful string lights. We ordered mussels and wine to start. Mussels were fantastic. Meaty, flavorful and plenty for everyone. The entree is where it fell short for me. I got the shrimp pasta. While the flavor was there, when I cut into the shrimp they still looked pretty translucent to me. After eating one and cutting up a few others, I felt that they were undercooked. The waitress said they wouldn't cook them more but she could bring the plate back and ask if they were cooked through. My plate came back and I was told they were cook so I sat there pushing soft, nasty shrimp around my plate while just eating spaghetti. My boyfriend asked for a medium burger and it was definitely rare to medium rare. When this happens, generally you offer to bring out new protein cooked again or ask if the guest wants something else but I was just left to feel like I was nuts. Whatever, into dessert. Now for dessert, I thought we'd try the cookies and ice cream. cookies were completely raw ( not just soft) and also not hot and the ice cream on the plate looked like it was pre scooped and refrozen. While I loved the concept of this place. Relaxing getaway where you can just do it all onsite, I honestly would spare yourselves the experience of the restaurant or order fish and chips or fried chicken) and just dine in Newburyport.
