Honestly the absolute worst latte I've ever had! The first one tasted like water. After adding an additional shot of coffee to the second attempt, the coffee was so bitter, it tasted like Old GROUNDS! The paper cup has a better flavor than the coffee. My order: açaí bowl and iced espresso The Review: I liked how many gluten free options they had, and I liked the emphasis on featuring local products. They also claim to be a sort of community gathering center. The coffee was ok! Local-ish Fazenda coffee. The lack of customer service was insane. There were staff available but I waited for a while at the counter for someone to notice me and take my order. I spent around $25 for 2 items, am injured with difficulty walking, and they wouldn't let me use the bathroom, hinting that they had one but not "for the public". Instead they directed me to a public restroom down the road with 4 stalls for hundreds of people at the beach. The açaí was good though. I guess you have to weigh the pros and cons. read more

Don't waste your time at this cafe. Waited 1 hour for a breakfast burrito and when we went to check on the status of the order with the manager, she rudely replied that your name would be called when the order is ready. I went to check in 10 min later and was again asked rudely by the manager on shift for my name to finally check the status. She took a good second to figure out the status and said it would be right out. Then, realized it was already sitting on the ready to go table where no one called our name. Sad establishment, but baristas were great. Feel bad for the nice baristas and workers there. Their manager needs to learn some customer service. read more

Stopped by Salisbury beach on our way back from Hampton beach and decided to have lunch after walking around. The restaurant is right by the beach and boardwalk and the little town center - great location! Grilled veggie panini was good - onions bell peppers mushrooms and mozzarella cheese on focaccia bread - I asked for less cheese. Hubs ordered the Surf gobbler turkey sandwich on toasted rye bread which he liked - tasty, savory and satisfactorily chewy with bacon. Best part is when you sit at the counter you have a nice view of the beach and water, although there is limited seating inside. But there is seating nearby outside too. Plus you can simply take out and eat on the beach too. Overall good food and friendly service right on the beach - can't go wrong. read more

The Salisbury Beach front area has a lot going on. The beach is covered with people, towels, umbrellas, the usual. The streets are different, split into two distinct crowds: the usual beach places with their pizzas, sausages, and ice cream, and then there's.. Groundswell Surf Cafe. The menu is filled with healthy AND delicious options. When we last visited, late morning, everybody in the area was at Groundswell. The prices are maybe a little elevated, but certainly justified. What a great location and healthy option to have right on the beach! I came down here in off season (season May 1 - Oct 15) and was worried everything would be closed. They are open Thursday-Sunday opening at 7. I ordered a coconut oil black coffee and immediately second guessed it. Some places just put a scoop in and the oily mess sits on top and is an oil slick on your lips and in your mouth. As soon as I heard the blender I realized these guys got it right! They blended it up to a creamy smoothness. They have a coffee bar outside with multiple milk options including oat milk. I was able to top off my coffee for some added heat which was appreciated on this chilly morning. I ordered the big sprout breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese, spinach, arugula, tomato, and avocado. Sounds delish and flavorful. Luckily I ordered it on the very thing bagel because the sandwich itself was pretty lack luster and tasteless. They don't season the egg or add any type dressing to the sandwich. I did realize (too late) they have salt and pepper by the coffee bar which would have helped, but still not quite what I would have been looking for. Maybe they have options I could have added, I am not sure, I didn't ask. I am sure I will be back during our two week visit, so I will make sure to look into it further and report back. Edited to add: I just read the menu and it says this sandwich was supposed to have basil pesto aïoli, now THAT is what I was looking for and would have made this sandwich so much better! Too bad it was somehow left off of my sandwich. Better luck next time! read more

After coming to Salisbury for almost 40 years and always indulging in greasy non-quality food, I thought I'd try Ground Swell because it's always busy and I assumed must be great. I chose a turkey panini for lunch and was excited that they use bread from a local bakery. After paying $14 I was extremely disappointed in the tiny size of bread. A large amount of turkey was stuffed into the dry tiny bread, I thought it was a joke at first and maybe I was on Candid Camera...haha!!! But nope, not a joke. Won't be returning here. read more

Went this Saturday, they had a Pina Colada smoothie on the menu, so I specifically asked if they had the stuff to make a Pina Colada smoothie. One employee checks with another and they say yes. For $8 or more I got what is essentially a smoothie with mostly banana and maybe hints of something else. I've been here before and have been a fairly good customer because I want to support something other than a pizza or arcade or bar in Salisbury. Well no more. Just communicate you don't have the pineapple or coconut or whatever. Big thumbs down. read more

I really don't visit this area during the busy summer months, but I love the beach off-season. This cafe is truly a bright spot in the area. It's right on the beach with a clear view of the ocean. The windows flip open and must be amazing in the summer months (I think someone posted a photo of the building here). I've been a few times on Sunday morning, when its quiet and peaceful, and the beach air is cool. I've only had the coffee and some breakfast items, but would like to try more. Its a comfortable place to hang out for a little while and the people here are nice. I'll be back again before they close for the season. I highly recommend you give them a try! read more

I look forward to eating here every time I come to Salisbury beach. It's really cool to eat an açaí bowl and look out on the beach. Whenever I feel like eating healthy, I eat here. I go to Jilly's Pizzeria if I'm in the mood for pizza, or getting rid of my cash at their bitcoin ATM. GroundSwell also has Kombucha on tap and it is quite delicious. They are a little pricy if you want like, a GIANT meal, but health is wealth, right? I swear, I feel so good after having their food. I wish I was wealthy enough to just have a beach house and eat at GroundSwell all the time. I'm obsessed with this place! I've been telling a lot of people about it. GroundSwell is the TRUTH! You cannot miss Groundswell if you are in the Salisbury area! It is truly a little slice of paradise. We were in Salisbury for my sister's bachelorette party and this place jumped out at me immediately, so I reached out to the team to see if they could accommodate a larger group for breakfast. They were beyond kind and were able to reserve a couple tables for us. Upon arrival, Heather greeted us and couldn't have been nicer! The food and coffee is phenomenal. Having been a supporter of Groundswell since day one, and my favorite açaí bowl, I am deeply disappointed to have to write this review. It's a holiday weekend so we knew things wouldn't be seamless, we ordered online and expected a wait. We paid $2 for parking, spent $4 on water while we waited for an hour and 45 minutes only to walk away with nothing as we could wait no longer. Preparing for a holiday crowd with staff, process and pivot plans are key, in general, and also key to keeping your loyal local customers. Knowing the chaos directly in front of you means shut down online orders for the weekend, close your line to catch up on the orders and the people in front of you. And do whatever you have to to make sure people don't walk away feeling like it was the biggest waste of 2.5 hours. Disappointed in the day and disappointed that I need to find a new place for açaí.
