The food at Chang's Gourmet Chinese Restaurant is good and worth trying. Especially, for lunch. The sesame chicken lunch special was good. The sesame chicken was on point, but the friend rice was a little dry and bland. If you have fried rice I expects to see egg, onions, peas, carrots etc. Maybe, I'm to picky and living in the old days. The eggroll was a little over fried as well. The wonton soup good was good too. The service is decent and the place was fairly busy. The surroundings are not bad. The bathrooms are kind of squished into the back of the restaurant and it feels like you are walking into a part of the restaurant reserved for employees. The bathroom are fairly outdated, which makes them look dirter than they actually may be. Overall, it's not bad and worth it for lunch. read more

Our first visit last night and was glad we picked the right one. As i searched for chinese places to dine at, a list of establishment popped up. I viewed most with highly rated stars and was glad this was on point. This has now become one of pur favourite place for chinese food. The place isn't big but rather enough to cater to diners who chose to eat in rather than take-aways. We were lucky to have arrived first because after sitt8ng down for about 10 minutes people were bustling in to enjoy dinnertime as well. The food is good and service was great. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed our time. Give them a try if you haven't visited this place yet. read more

I'm usually a little hesitant to eat food from a restaurant in a strip mall, but with Power being out because of hurricane beryl desperate times desperate measures. I got to say the food was actually very good tight quarters inside, but I understand my only gripe would be the people working in there walked by us numerous times for 20 minutes before we had to say can we order? Also, when I was ready to pay, I went to the front. The guy up in the front ignored me and kept helping to go orders. I said listen I would like to leave now can I just for my food so I can go and he said where were you sitting and I go that's funny because you were my waiter. Did look at my previous review and order the exact thing. The Wonton Soup is good, and the Egg Rolls. After eating at a Restaurant on Belaire, the Cheese Puffs were a big disappointment. Last time, they were lite, this time all wonton, no cheese. I ordered Chicken Kung Pao and I forgot the asked for NO celery...I love raw, not cooked. So, I spent the meal picking out the celery. It was ok for lunch but mixed feelings. I had sweet and sour chicken which was good and served very hot and the dipping sauce was tasty and warm. Nice thin crispy batter coating. The wonton soup was very disappointing. It had a slight chicken flavor but was completely clear with a few scallions pieces mixed in and one small wonton. By far the weakest wonton soup I've ever had. Try mixing in some type vegetables to make it a little hardy. The fried rice was also weak as it was just sticky rice with soy sauce and maybe a slight piece of egg, again not other vegetables to add color or flavor. The waiter was friendly and hospitable but the waitress barely said two words and only repeated our order and handed us our check. Sorry, probably not returning. read more

The first thing that hit me when I first walked into Chang's is the decor. Half of it is a typical Chinese restaurant. The other half is a warehouse. A small sea of polished wooden tables, about ten in number with four black wood and red-cushioned seats each. To left, an aged counter that took our order. To the back, a worn hd tv with an orange hue nestled between brown boxes that say 'fortune cookies' and 'meal sets' and a couple of pallets of 32-water bottle packs. To the right of that is an out of place lectern, and to the right of that is another counter, half-submerged in wires and computer monitors. Two of us ordered the House Chow Mein. I prepared myself according to the decor. The food was given to us after about five minutes, which was admittedly a bit worrying. It was too quick to make fresh in my opinion. As I ate my meal at home, I found my expectations to be dead on. The food was nothing special, fairly generic chinese food. As I ate, I thought back to the cardboard box of fortune cookies back at the restaurant. It felt like it was synonymous with my experience of Chang's. Utterly generic. Just like the packets of soy sauce they gave us I've seen hundreds of time before. Just like the plastic packages I saw just a couple of weeks ago at another chinese food restaurant. Just like the menu with the same font and icons. Chang's food felt like it came off a production line, right down to the factory-standard egg rolls. After taking time away to go back & get the correct orders (due to religious dietary restrictions) they wanted to charge us the difference & then the "owner" raised his voice and told us to "never order from here ever again" Good riddance, you act like you're the only Chinese food spot. His act of kindness was so appreciated ~ when the driver arrived & we opened up the bag there was a gift of egg rolls & a hand written note! Tried the house special wonton soup that many are raving about on here. Have to admit it is loaded with lots of yummy vegetables, and even has a couple of nice shrimp in it. The broth is pretty good. The wontons had all unwrapped and kind of smelled doughy. Don't know if I would return or not. read more

A year and something later and I am still going to Chang's and calling for delivery from Chang's. Food is still as good and as fresh. They still have the best wonton and hot and sour soup in the area. Service is fast and efficient and they seldom make a mistake on my order. In fact, I don't remember the last time they did. That is a big plus when you are calling in orders for delivery. I am partially handicapped so good food, good service, good delivery and correct order means a lot to me. I only have two, well not really complaints, more like plaints with them. They don't serve miso soup or ribs. But, heck, if they were perfect they'd be oriental food ghods. OK, I'm overdoing it, but what more can you ask for from a small restaurant. Keep it up Chang's. read more

We were looking for a new place to get Chinese food delivered, and tonight we went with Chang's. They said it would be 45 minutes - it took 23. Got two very well-sized combos and cheese puffs for $25 plus tip. Cheese puffs were awesome - six in a foil bag. Broth in the wonton soup was good. Vegetables in the Kung Pao were hand diced and fresh. Taste of China still makes a better egg roll, but I think I found our new go-to. read more

This wonderful little restaurant is a favorite at my apartment~ My two roommates and I were ecstatic to find a place we can all agree on! I. Always. Have. Them. Deliver. Their menu says that is a $12 minimum for a delivery order, but their lunch items are only $5-6 and they have brought me out a meal for one. I do make it worth their time with a good (and well earned) tip~ The chicken, pork, and shrimp are all fantastic and worth way more than they charge. An order of soup, a side of rice, and an egg roll all come with a lunch order. With dinner you have to order the egg rolls separately, but you will be sorry if you don't! Their lo mein is a must have! It comes as heaping amount that is two meals, at least, three for me! I whole-heartily agree with Eric G. when he says, "I seriously don't know how they stay in business with the amount of food they give their customers."
