    Chicken Parmigiana

Found this place last minute while having a date night with my partner. I think I came with a little higher expectations as I've heard and seen good reviews on this place. The atmosphere and the staff is really nice and set the mood when we sat in. It's not too fancy or not too casual. The garlic bread was amazing and started us off just right but when we got our chicken parmigiana and chicken picatta, it didn't really stand out to us.. I like their prices on their menu but I've spend the same price for these 2 dishes and had it better somewhere else. I would like to come back and try their other dishes though.

We love this place and always have great Italian food here! Great pastas, pizzas, salads and appetizers. Huge restaurant with a fabulous staff that always takes care of us. Never had a bad experience here and highly recommend it!

We were thrilled to find out they were open during this Texas freeze since a lot of spots were closed. Wasn't busy and it was such a calm, relaxing vibe. They have a bar if you prefer to eat quick and grab a drink. Host and our waitress were very friendly. The complimentary garlic bread is probably the best we've had. Definitely beats Olive Garden's bread sticks! The side Caesar salad was huge but something was missing. I just can't pinpoint it but it was decent. Spinach ravioli was hot and hardy. The marinara sauce is a bit sweet for my liking but the handy salt and pepper grinders helped balance it out for me. Overall, a great spot. Menu appears to have been updated since I've last been and pricing seems to be very reasonable with lots of choices.

Came to have dinner with friends so I didn't take a lot of pictures. Restaurant parking was slightly difficult but it was a Sunday evening so I would expect this to be normal. This was my first time at this restaurant so I'm not sure what it's like typically. I know it's located near Main Event and the movie theater so I imagine a lot of families and couples come here for lunch & dinner. The restaurant is nicely laid out, kinda dark for me but I guess it's for ambiance. There's booth and table seating available, we sat in a booth it was kinda tight but the table top was huge so it gave plenty of room to be able to share food if wanted. Ordered Calamari and Mozzarella sticks for apps, they give you Garlic Bread (DELICIOUS!!) I should have waited for the apps to come because I asked for marinara for the bread and was charged $3 for it The menu itself for entrees is huge lots of the same pasta types with different proteins just depends on your preference. I got the Chicken Pomodoro I really enjoyed it plenty left over for me to have for lunch the next day. My husband had the Sausage Pizzauola which he said was different he did omit the mushrooms so you can request that of your not a fan of them. Just had soft drinks (Coca~Cola) and my husband had a Raspberry Tea he said was good. They do have a wine, beer and drinks menu but I didn't check it out. Nice place, staff were polite and I think we might be back with family next time. Do not expect this place to be like the Olive Garden, it is not!

Chicken Parmigiana with fettuccini Alfredo instead of spaghetti

Ashley Vaquera was the best! She was kind, observant, and thoughtful. Not pushy. So pleasant. The food is still *fantastic* and of course the garlic bread was served warm and toasty. So delicious. Their tomato caprese was a great appetizer, and the chicken parmigiana with fettuccini Alfredo was delicious! I didn't want spaghetti which is the side with the chicken parm. I asked for the fettuccini instead. Delicious. Hot. Filling. Love this restaurant!

Always love coming here from the delicious fresh bread to the calamari and every time I've ordered I've loved my food. Plenty to the point I have left overs for later to enjoy. Great service as well and I think on Monday's kids are eat free! So overall I highly recommend.

Went here with a friend for lunch. They have a great lunch menu you can choose from. We ordered the cheese ravioli, fettuccine Alfredo, and a chicken Caesar salad. I asked for some spice to be added to the Alfredo and they sautéed some red peppers in it and it was amazing. Our server was very attentive and friendly. I will definitely be back.

This place was delicious and had excellent customer service from start to finish. The bread was fresh and delicious!!!!! Caesar salad was good. Baked Ziti, thin crust 12" Pizza with 2 Toppings
    Gigi P.

Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, low lights, felt comfortable to talk at a good volume. The server did put in our order wrong but i think it was because our table was a bit indecisive. Asked for a large 2 topping italian crust and got a medium 2 topping with thin crust. pizza toppings tasted wonderful, fresh. Also ordered the mozzarella sticks which werent anything different than a frozen box, wouldn't order again. baked ziti was yummy. lots of cheese which i loved. wish i had taken a picture of the bread, i wasn't a fan i wish i had oil and italian seasoning to dip it into, as i felt the bread lacked flavor. Definitely gonna try other menu items if i go again!

    Chicken Alfredo tortellini

The restaurant is a little cold so bring a jacket. Good service and great food. The bread is the best part!! Go here if you love carbs!!

They have some delicious desserts and I vaguely remember them from the few times I tried them, but I try to eat both halves of the sandwich and that's it, can't eat another bite. The service is always great, the people are well trained and are pleasant to deal with. Ambiance, what ambiance? It's a great place to go get your sandwich and we take it home to eat and watch TV. The one time we ate there, it took away from the glorious experience of eating that mouth watering goodness. There were other distracting people around us and keeping me from concentrating on my sandwich!

For a place that has been voted the #1 restaurant in America before, it was a lovely experience! This location is a little over 30 mins away from me, which is beyond the distance I'm willing to drive for a meal in the middle of the week, but as it was my birthday week I decided to treat myself. And I am so glad that I did. I can say that everything about the experience eating here was pleasant. For one the fact that I arrived here after 7pm and they close at 8pm, yet there was a steady influx of customers speaks to just how popular they are. There was one person in line behind me and I felt bad for them a little because I knew I was going to ask a bunch of questions because I've been looking forward to coming here and it is out the way so I was going to ask the right questions to make sure I got something I liked. With that being said, the man taking my order was very helpful and patient. I know I took at least 5 mins to order yet he was cool answering all of the questions I had. I generally hate when the kiosk asks if I'd like to tip when I'm not dealing with a waiter but the service he provided paired with the amount of questions I had led me to leave a tip. Again I had to drive a distance to eat here so I went in knowing that I was going to be ordering food to eat there as well as being able to bring some home, because there is no telling when the next time will be that I want to make the trek. To keep things balanced, I ordered a cold and a hot sandwich. I went with a build your own for the cold sandwich and went with turkey and roast beef for meats, deli provolone for cheese, spring lettuce, roasted red peppers, red onion, olive smear and house marinated pepper blend for toppings, sub oil, spicy deli mustard and basil pesto (on the side) for extras, all on a crusty Italian roll for the bread. For the hot sandwich I went with the chicken parm and added light red onions to it. I also made my first sandwich a combo with chips and a drink. They serve Pepsi products for the fountain drinks and Zapp's products for the chips. One pet peeve I do have with places is that when I order an additional meat and don't feel like I got extra but instead just less of my other meat to make up for my extra. That is how I feel about the pastrami that I had added to my cold sandwich. Both sandwiches were really good. I wouldn't say that they were the best sandwiches I've ever had but they were solid. The cold sandwich was my creation so take that as you will. The flavors on it was all good, but nothing shooting over the moon to me. All of the food on the sandwich looked and tasted fresh. The hot sandwich is one of theirs with a slight add from me and it again was good but the flavor didn't just jump out for me. Making a chicken parm exceptional takes some work so I'm not mad at what they serve and it is cooked and served with an excellent broil on it. The bread on both sandwiches I will say was a stand out because it held up and had a good crust and chew while still being soft. I will say that I wasn't able to try many of their menu favorites because I don't eat pork, so some of those may be even more delicious. No complaints on any of the flavor but wouldn't have been made at a few more unctuous notes to the palate. I also got the cannoli which was cool. Nothing significant but I'm not mad that I got it. I would also like to note that the bathroom is kept very nice and smells well. I'm 90% sure that someone was blowing up the toilet before I went in yet it didn't stink when I went in. Not sure if they just sprayed a lot or the upkeep but either way kudos. I generally would've gotten food like this to go, but given the distance and that I wanted to get as fresh of a food experience as I can I did dine in. Getting there at the end of the day I was there as they were closing up. As they closed up the staff kept a respectable distance from me as I ate as to not disturb my food with the cleaning. Now that I've eaten here I can honestly say that I get why it has so much hype. Though I wasn't wowed by the food I was wowed by the service and the food was delicious. I'm not sure of when I'll next make the trip here but I do know that I'll feel confident that it will be a meal well enjoyed when I do. Thought I posted this review lol so I'll add to it since I returned again. Again great service and delicious food. The food here is so good and the location is so out of the way that both times I've gone I've left with 2 sandwiches for myself. I again got a Chicken Parm in all of it's deliciousness but this time made my cold BYO sandwich into a hot one and OMG was it banging! This place serves up deliciousness with ease.

First off, the outside as well as inside of the establishment is beautiful! When you walk in, the restaurant is beautifully decorated; it's a cross between a fast-food establishment and a restaurant dining-style. I believe another Yelper also mentioned that fact as well. One can order in two options: using the self-kiosk, or going to the counter where there is someone there to take your order. Having both options available is rather convenient. For my food, I got the Famous Meal #1: Italian Beef Sandwich. However, I came prepared: it was going to be personalized to be the perfect meal. FIRST: make it big ($2), then add sweet and hot peppers ($1.98), mozz cheese ($.89), and ordered slightly wet. For my sides, I opted for the large onion rings ($4.99), and in addition --- this is A LOT -- I got the famous Chocolate Cake Shake (additional $6.19). If you were going to get a normal meal, it would probably cost you about $14.57. Mine -- with all the add-ons? $26.88. Take that into consideration. How was the food? Portillo's is definitely the experience many Chicagoans have heaped about. The "dipped" Italian Beef Sandwich was generously portioned, and if I had anything to comment-on --- it would be adding more sweet + hot peppers to the sandwich. Besides that, everything else was spot-on. On to that famous milk-shake: if you're a first-timer DO IT. How does it taste? It honestly tastes like a "real" version of a frosty from Wendy's --- taste wise. At least we know what's in this milkshake: Ice Cream, Milk, and a slice of chocolate cake. It was thick, creamy, and hit the spot. All-in-all, I totally recommend Portillo's if there is a location near you! It's definitely an American institution and is worthy of the hype.
