We tried to place an order to go and even pay over the phone, and she copped an attitude saying we need to show up in person and she refused to take our order and said she wouldn't without us being there. Ok, understandable to some extent though I don't understand not taking payment over the phone. We then try and locate the business and call back asking for landmarks and told her we were in a shopping center and wanted to confirm this was correct. She began screaming at us including spelling out the name of the restaurant in a condescending manner, and hung up the phone! We order from this restaurant 3-4 times a month. Called and order my food tonight, lady on the phone was rude. Waited over an hour for my food. Received my food and they forgot my egg rolls. Called and talked to a gentleman told him we didn't receive our egg rolls, asked me if I want a credit or have them delivered. I said please deliver them we have already waited over an hour for our food. Two minutes later the rude lady called me back and was arguing with me said she put the egg rolls in the bag. So the woman didn't assumed that I wasn't going to sit and eat. She didn't speak to me when I came in. I waited at the front to be seated. Finally I just asked "is it okay for me to eat here", she said "oh you wanna eat, sure have a seat". I was turned off by then but needed to have lunch. Nothing special about this spot and not sure why it has gourmet on the name of the business. It was regular and nothing fancy nor special and the egg rolls tasted funny. Stopped by to pick up some won ton soup. A large won ton came to a total of $4.88 and paid with my check card. Lady behind the counter pointed at a little sign that said no charge cards under $5.00 and said next time I came I'd have to follow the 5 dollar rule. When I opened up the soup it didn't smell very appetizing and tasted like grease. Two spoons of soup and one won ton later it all went in the trash. Not much to look at, but this is quality Mom & Pop Chinese food! Hot and sour soup had lots of new and "extra" flavors (e.g., green onion, maybe?) which worked really well. I learned from an employee they make it fresh four times a day. The Kung Pao Shrimp arrived at my table quickly and piping hot. The diced vegetables were not overworked (cooked but still crisp and obviously fresh produce), and the shrimp was firm without being rubbery or tough. Staff was polite and eager to seat me, and was comfortably attentive. The phone rang at least six times in 30 minutes, and I saw four customers pickup orders in that time frame - they clearly do a lot of take-away business. This little restaurant is exactly what it claims to be: a family-owned establishment that puts up good, economical food made fresh to order. Before I left, I struck up a conversation with a woman who has been eating here for twenty years. I will add more after I've had my meal. 1 Hour Later: Delivery arrived early! I had asked them to make my Dragon and Phoenix dish extra extra spicy, mix it in. They did! Happy to say the food was very tasty. Where they fell short was in the area of utensils. Always include cutlery and napkins with a delivery order, especially if there's lots of gravy. Went here for lunch one day with a friend to try something different in the area. Place was actually pretty full when we walked in, which was a pleasant surprise. If there are that many people then it must be good, right? It was also clean inside, no weird odors and no dirty / unbussed tables. The inside is very basic, no fancy fluff. But most of these small mom & pop chinese food places are like that. The menu is pretty much what you would find at any little chinese food place. I don't remember exactly what we ordered that day, but I do remember it was good, hot, and fresh. We talked about adding this place to our usual rotation of places to go to lunch... Chang's is a great Chinese place hidden in Tomball. Price is the cheapest you'll come across. Food is pretty decent, almost top notch. It is hard to find a place with this quality and price ratio. Owners are not rude, I'd be surprised to see rude phone behavior repeated after the initial reports. Update: 2/17/16 I started getting Chang's delivered and it has been awesome. The quality since they opened has gradually gotten better. They aren't skimping on quality where a lot of other Chinese places clearly have. Let me start by saying that I read all of the reviews prior to ordering our food, since I like to do my homework on Yelp before I try new restaurants. In the end we decided to give them a try, with no high expectations. We were very pleasantly surprised at how amazing this food was. We've been searching for a Chinese restaurant that we both agree, and that isn't a road trip away. SOOOO glad we finally tried Changs. We ordered deliver and it was actually quicker than the quoted time, and the food arrived HOT!! They were extremely friendly on the phone and told us they would deliver to us even though we were outside of their radius, which we greatly appreciated. I ordered General Tso chicken, with fried rice. It was AMAZING. The perfect blend of spicy and flavor, the chicken was perfectly cooked and there was plenty of sauce. The fried rice was so good I didn't even feel the need to use soy sauce, which says something for me. My fiancé had sweet and sour chicken with rice and an egg roll. All of which received raving reviews from her. I guess our standards could have been lowered by the complete lack of good Chinese food around us, but either way we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and we will definitely be making this our go to place from now on. read more

Today I went to have lunch here Today, when I came in it was not busy at all with one white couple eating, sorry to use race card but I'm black and gave me a menu and left me , I sat for 15mins w/o anyone asking what I wanted to order. The sauces are the same for the food. General tsaos tasted the exact same as the beef with mixed vegetables. The chili garlic sauce was all chili no garlic. The egg drop soup is good though so if you must go get that. read more
