This place is almost like a senior center. The equipment is a little fancy even though its not the largest gym. I like how their treadmills that have access to YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, and random games.

Good facility with staff that are helpful. Alittle smaller than others but with more of a community feel.

Facilities are small, and not a lot of equipment. Kids also tend to run wild in the facility

We're lucky to have friends that are members that occasionally bring us as their guests!…read more The pool is great and we love the shallow end for the younger kids. The Grill also has a good selection of items for meals or just a quick snack. We have also been to the clubhouse area and playground for some parties and events.

In Chapel Hill, "The Farm" refers to the private club of the UNC Faculty-Staff Recreation…read moreAssociation. It's kind of like a country club, but without a golf course. There are tennis courts, pickleball courts, swimming and diving pools, outdoor rock climbing walls, a gym, an outdoor basketball court, disc golf, beach volleyball, a clubhouse, playground, three shelters (pavilions) with wooden tables and benches, and more. Actually, it's more like a private park than a private country club. In terms of how nice The Farm is, I'd say it's on a public park level. When I saw The Farm is private, I was thinking it would be nicer and perhaps higher-end. Instead, it felt more like a small city park that happens to be private. My wife has been here multiple times for various UNC events. I attended one of the events with her. It took place at The Farm's clubhouse, the adjacent pavilion, and the playground. It was a family-friendly event. Parents brought their children who played on the playground. Food and drink were set up inside the clubhouse's kitchen. The clubhouse and overall grounds and facilities that I saw were modest. The shelter had string lighting lining the ceiling. The tables had a lot of what looked like dried-up paint/finger paint on them, presumably from kids' activities. It makes sense since the playground was right next to us. Also nearby was a bunch of bamboo which made for a good backdrop for group photos. During our Saturday afternoon visit, I saw people playing beach volleyball and the pool(s) looked busy. The Farm is located east of UNC campus, not far from the Chapel Hill-Durham border. It's off 54, accessible via Barbee Chapel Rd, just past UNC Finley Golf Course. It's due south from the Rizzo Center (south side of 54).

I really like how the class is structured with 20 minutes of spin, 20 minutes of strength training, and 20 minutes of yoga. The spin portion is motivating with good music and your name shows up on a screen with your optimal power zone so you can continuously push yourself. No one knows who is who unless you know someone's name ;) And everyone's is different to cater towards your level! Since it's only 20 minutes not many people wear clip in shoes - but you can! The strength training portion is always different. Sometimes it's weights, straps, or even slam balls. I really like that the exercises are also shown on screens throughout the strength training area - so you won't forget what you need to do right after the instructor goes through everything. It also gives the countdowns so you know how much time is left for each exercise. The yoga is the part that's a little hit or miss for me. Sometimes it is sooo incredibly fast and I don't feel like I can keep up. And then sometimes it's just right.

Great employees too!

This is exactly the workout I've been looking for! I had previously tried boot camps, crossfit,…read morespin, barre... but Orangetheory is the workout that I actually look forward to doing. In an hour-long workout you rotate between rowing machines, treadmills and free weights/TRX for the perfect mix of cardio and strength training. Plus, the instructors at the Meadowmont location are fantastic. They keep you on track and motivated, and provide great instruction so you perform the exercises with the proper form. And, by using the heart rate monitor to track my effort level throughout the workouts, I've seen significant improvement in my performance over the past three months.

Love OTF.... but current Meadowmont OTF studio customer service sucks…read more After 18 months loving my OT Beat Link (Apple Watch heart rate monitor), I recently lost it. It was a great option for me so I bought a replacement OT Beat Link ($140) on Monday at Meadowmont which is currently my home studio. I finally *found* my lost OT Beat Link on Tuesday night (of course ;-), and then proceeded to return the never-used-still-in-the-box-with-all-the-parts new OT Beat Link on Wednesday morning at Meadowmont. I was informed there is a strict no return policy for all heart rate monitors... doesn't matter if the device is still in the box and has never been used. I hate to give the Meadowmont OTF studio a negative review. I have been an OTF member based at Meadowmont studio for over 8 years, and overall OTF is awesome. I wish current Meadowmont OTF management had better customer service, IMO they used to do much better. Luckily there are several OTF studio options in the area and I would highly recommend trying those over Meadowmont.... I have found the MLK OTF studio in Durham to be a superior option and there are a couple other studios in the Chapel Hill/Durham area.
