The service here was great, I love when all my questions are answered with a positive attitude. I got a breakfast sandwich and it was very good! We usually go to Ulew coffee but had to check this place out too as they are related! The ambiance was very welcoming and family friendly. There were people of all ages. Their pumpkin pie was delicious!

Chapmayan Café is such a lovely little Guatemalan coffee shop and a great find. I tried both the cardamom latte and the floral latte, and they were absolutely delicious--smooth, well-balanced, and not overly sweet. You can really taste the care that goes into their coffee. I also tried the Guatemalan tamal with rice and chicken, which was a first for me. It was comforting, flavorful, and totally different from other tamales I've had--in the best way. Everything felt homemade and thoughtfully prepared. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. I'll definitely be coming back to try more.

Coffee: 10/10 ~creamy, strong coffee flavor, sweet but not overly so. Fave: Mayan latte Food: Chuchito 7/10, Shuco 8.5/10 ~the Chuchito was good but the tomato salsa on top was very salty which kinda overpowered the chuchito itself (I would try it again, maybe without the salsa); the shuco was delicious! It sounds overwhelming because it comes with 3 meats and a lot of condiments but it balances out very well. Abs recommend to try! Add the picamas! Overall rating: 9/10. Abs recommend to come here. I'll be back myself! They have yummy looking pastries that I did not try. They get busy around 10ish so come early :P

Our Bell Gardens bike group rode to this shop for coffee. I've never heard of a tamal wrapped in banana leaves, so I wanted to try it. When we got there, there was alot of people already. Mostly locals because I noticed when they were greeted, they were told "welcome back". The workers all had such a positive vibe, it was very welcoming and inviting. The interior had Mayan decor and comfy chairs with padding of traditional Mayan designs. Some of my peers ordered the tostada trio and were impressed by the simple ingredients and massive flavor, but I wanted that tamal Chapin. When it came out, I smelled the steamed banana leaf. The tamal itself was so tender and soft! Almost like a oatmeal consistency. Not like traditional tamales that sometimes have hard, dry ends. The banana leaf gave the tamal an interesting flavor. It was absolutely phenomenal. It also came with two breads, perfect to smear the tamal on. I heard my friends say the coffee was really good. And my sweet tooth wanted to get some of those sweets. They had a great sweets menu too! Very diverse, but guess I have to save that for another trip. If you are crusing up or down Rosemead Blvd and you are nearing Slauson, STOP here. You will absolutely not regret it.

I'm sort of in the middle when it comes to my experience at ChapMayan Coffee. If I could I'd actually give it 3.5* but rounded up due to an overall decent experience. To start off ChapMayan Coffee shares a corner piece of property along Slauson Ave and Rosmead Blvd. The parking lot is already small and spot availability was nonexistent at the time we arrived, 11:45 am. We ended parking around the corner in the neighborhood. The space is pretty small with a couple of tables, coffee tables, and front window counter seating. Each space was filled and the line of people seemed like a good sign that this was a popular place for coffee. I went with my bf and we ordered the Mayan Latte, Mayan Mocha, breakfast sandwich and one of the pumpkin pies. The Mayan latte was your standard latte, good coffee flavor and balanced with the oat and condensed milk. The Mayan Mocha was nice with the chocolate coming through, but the surprising and nice ingredient was the cardamom. Both were good standard in terms of lattes and mochas. The breakfast sandwich was good as well...size wise a but underwhelming for the price, but everything is more expensive nowadays. The pumpkin pie was great, it tasted like the same spices used in the mayan latte/mocha were in it which I liked. The one thing I will say that wait times can get up there...it took about 20-30 minutes to actually get all of our items which seemed a bit long. The place is on the small side, including the kitchen and area to prepare items but I've been to shops in the simlar spaces and have taken a fraction of the time to receive things. So in a sense it's deceptively busy partly, I think due to wait times. But overall it does seem like a popular local place.

ChapMayan- finally a quality small coffee place in Pico Rivera. I've gone back and tried a few several lattes and they are all great quality and made with care. Their service is super nice, and definitely worth the wait when they are busy. 10/10 overall.

Talk about a hidden gem!! The ambiance inside is very welcoming and makes you feel right at home. Dennis assisted us and he was incredibly kind, respectful, and professional. We really appreciated his hospitality while we were there. The breakfast sandwiches are to DIE FOR!! One of the best I've ever had, easily. Super filling, fresh ingredients, and very flavorful. I washed it down with a Mayan mocha which was absolutely delicious -- very smooth and refreshing. The pumpkin cheesecake here is super good, but I'd recommend sharing as it is rather rich and on the sweet side. All in all, this place is a must visit for all 3 aspects: service, ambiance, and food!!! Give them a shot, you can thank me later :)

I've visited this location twice. Once when it had a few days since it opened and another time a few weeks ago. They have some of the best enchiladas(tostadas) I've tried so I had to come again. The staff is very friendly. And their service is very quick. They have tables for you to enjoy your meal and the decor is very pretty. Reminded me of little pieces of Guatemala. I will definitely return.

Rellenito de platano, chuchito, and cafe de olla

This is one of my favorite small businesses in Pico Rivera. The staff are very kind and friendly, the interior is beautiful, and the food is amazing. I highly recommend the rellenitos de platano, which are a very unique dessert with black beans that is sweet but not too sweet. I also love the chuchitos, which have a nice tomato flavor (not spicy at all). Lastly, the cafe de olla is delicious -- I've had this drink elsewhere but nothing beats Chapmayan. Not to mention, I think the prices are pretty fair for a small business (the three things pictured cost $17). Highly recommend!

Came here on a Thursday and I am glad I did!! Located in the corner of the plaza, this spot is actually bigger inside than it looks from outside, if that makes sense, aka there's seating available inside. The atmosphere is pretty chill for reading a book, and the customer service was the best! They explained what kind of beans they use and what's popular/good. They have an interesting cardamom coffee that I wanted to try but didn't and chose the Mayan latte instead, so did my bf, he got it hot and they made a super detailed latte art!! And it's pretty delicious of course

This place is such a beautiful little hole in the wall, that celebrates Guatemalan culture when diversity is oppressed. The coffees are excellent, I purchased the Cafe de Olla, Floral and Mayan. The flavors are on point and delicious ! The service was great and workers friendly!

A small and charming cafe in the city of Pico brings you a taste of Guatemala with its delicious cafe food items and drip coffees and lattes. I had the Guatemala drip coffee with oatmilk and a splash of their house syrup that reminded me of a cafe de olla. For food, I tried their sandwhich item, "Shuco Chapin." It included three types of meats: chorizo, sausage link and steak with avocado and pickled onion. It was soo good!! The staff were all very nice and welcoming and took the time to explain the food items. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

This place should come with a warning sign! Their coffee is addicting. It's soooo good! And their tamale?! Ni se diga! The service is just as good as the food. They are super kind, friendly, and helpful. The place is small but it is intentionally decorated. You can feel the cozy vibes from Guatemala! My only con is that it sometimes does get packed and it can be hard to find a seat. read more

So I came here a a couple weeks ago. I really wanted coffee and didn't want to go anywhere mainstream because it is a hobby of mine to find cool coffee spots and man does this one hit. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and welcomed the staff there was insanely nice and gave great information on any questions we had. The spot itself is cozy it definitely reminded me of places I'd been to in Mexico and honestly made me feel at home. And the coffee! Ohhhhhh my goodness this is the coffee they talk about when they say "that first sip bliss" I had gotten a Mayan latte and it was so amazing! (I also love the fact that their drinks are all made with oat milk!) So much so I went back the next day and got a Mayan mocha because I just had to try more of what they had. All in all if you're ever in Downey and are looking for amazing coffee, definitely go here! Thank you!! read more

Tucked away and not an easy to see sign but they are located at the end of the corner marketplace. Super friendly staff and the coffee selection stands out. I'm a big coffee adventurer and like to explore every coffee place that crosses my path. So glad I stopped here. What I got: Harmonic Cardamom Latte - not too many places that do cardamom coffees and this one did not disappoint. Perfect balance of cardamom flavors with a hint of cinnamon. Definitely recommend. Mayan Latte - another fantastic balance of unique flavors. Not too sweet, and their darker roast complements the taste so well. I don't usually do flavored drinks so I want to taste the coffee and not just the extra flavors and this drink was so well balanced. Please do yourself a favor and try this place - the friendly guys at the bar/register and the coffees are so worth it. Will try to stop by and try the food next time! read more

I was looking to try something new, came here for the first time on a Saturday morning around 9:40 am. Parking is very limited. I circled around 3 times. I ordered a De olla latte, a Mayan latte, and 2 pumpkin pies. It took over 30 mins to get my order, when I finally received my drinks, my pies were missing. I had to wait another 10+ minutes to get my pies. The staff was friendly but the service was terrible and I wasn't the only person who received an incomplete order. I will not be coming back as the taste of the coffee was not good, cafe de olla did not taste like cafe de olla. Mayan latte was ok but not worth the wait. The pumpkin pie was delicious 10/10. read more

This is a new spot, they don't even have signage out front but a friend mentioned it and it's so close to my home that I have to check it out! I ordered the breakfast sandwich and it came with a spinach salad on the side. The sandwich was tasty and so was the salad! Very fresh and quickly made. I had a cafe de olla and it was super good! I am a sucker for good customer service! The young barista in the front is the definition of knowledge and humbleness!! I can't believe I haven't been here sooner! I got the cardamom latte and my wife got the floral latte with the lavender Syrup. Both were super delicious! Tasty coffees and great service! Can't wait to try the food! Knowing that this place is fairly new upon reading the reviews it was easy to find it's the only tiny storefront with an open sign but no name sign lol. I wanted a new spot to try and this just happen to be nearby. I was greeted with a cultural ambiance there were small handbags and purses from I believe Guatemala, decent seating areas and music to match the vibe. A very friendly atmosphere, I was greeted warmly and even had a pleasant conversation with the man who made my coffee. I got two drinks. A cafe de olla latte and a mayapan latte, fyi they use oatmilk, which is great. Both medium and came out to $11.25 the drinks were brought to me in a carrier; an incredibly nice gesture. These lattes were absolutely fantastic and full of flavor , the cafe de olla was a personal favorite but I'm definitely going again :) read more

Came because of the reviews. Friendly service I was recommended cafe de olla or Mayan latte and went with the iced Mayan latte which was nice and creamy. I will definitely come back to try the food! We ordered a rice tamale and the Mayan Latte, both were very good! At first, I was skeptical to try a Guatemalan tamale made of rice, but I gave it a try and it was fantastic along with the bread they give you. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they truly desire to share Guatemalan culture with the community. read more

Came in here to try and find a new favorite coffee spot and it looks like the search will continue. Service was extremely slow, I put in an order for two coffees and waited for over 20 minutes. I'm normally understanding of long waits in case the shop is busy however there were 2 other customers who ordered after me and got their orders before I did. I had to remind the staff that I was still waiting on my order and it turned out that it was ready and just sitting on the counter in the back. I wonder how much longer I would've been waiting had I not gone up to remind them. read more

The coffee is great. No complaints. I've tried drip, cafe de olla, Mayan, and matcha. Employees are very helpful and answered any questions. The tamales are slightly more runny and I'd prefer they be more firm. I assume they use oil instead of lard, but I'm not sure. Rellenitos with plátano are good, though I'd prefer a little more black beans inside. Looking forward to trying more of their sandwiches someday. read more

The coffee here is pretty darn good! The people there are super friendly and the guy actually some facts about their coffee. I definitely go there when I'm in the area. They do take a bit long but so worth it. read more

We got the Dubai Cup and a Libra Crepe. It had strawberries and bananas with Nutella, whipped cream and 2 scoops of ice cream. Since it was to go they put the ice cream in a separate cup which helped it not melt on the way home. Next time I'll get one of their hot chocolates cause they looked so good. The service was fast & friendly and they give a small pager to let you know when your food is ready. So glad they're open till midnight cause I have a feeling I'll have a late night craving again soon!

Got the party pack (30) for the school staff, and of course had to try for myself too with a regular (9). Ended up being an hour and a half before I got around to trying our box of 9. Looked interesting enough. Kid took his bite and said yum. I took mine to the sink (lol) to catch any crumbs, but surprised me that it's not just a ball of a regular donut. This had an amazingly satisfying crispy crunchy exterior, with an airy chewy interior! I can't imagine how much better it would be when freshly made at the store! Even an hour and a half later was delicious... Me and the kid quickly devoured our 3 each and struggled to leave 3 for wife before we had to go to an activity. When we returned, wife was also raving, what was that, where did you get it? Trust me, you will not be able to eat just one. I'm greedy, I definitely want more than 3 next time! We came in at 2 on a Tuesday and they had just finished making a fresh batch (they are made every 30 minutes), so we lucked out on that and got to try these at their peak! Really wonderful. We arrived around 8:00 p.m., and there was already a line and for good reason. The churros are delicious, fresh, and not stale at all. The perfect crunch on the outside and the soft middle. I even had one the next morning, and it was still amazing. The only downside is that you can't order the cajeta or lechera on the side. We wanted to take everything home and eat later, but having the toppings added on top made the churros soggy. If you're planning to eat them right away, it wouldn't be an issue. Another small frustration was that they had handwritten signs posted advertising arroz con leche and champurrado, but when we tried to order, we were told they didn't have either. If items are no longer available, those signs should really be taken down to avoid confusion. Overall, still a great stop for fresh, delicious churros.

My wife and I strolled into this shop in the middle of the afternoon and were in and out in just a couple of minutes. I ordered a mango slush with boba and before I knew it I was on my way. The drink tasted great and quenched every bit of thirst I had. What else can someone need out of a boba shop? Overall, Chami Tea Bar gets a big thumbs up from me and I'll definitely be a returning customer in the future. As long as the Toy Depot stays open, I'll be coming back for more!

Came back to try the Huevos con Machaca and wow, Olguitas continues to deliver in a big way. The ambiance was cozy and quaint, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. The food was absolutely delicious, and the coffees were just as wonderful--rich, flavorful, and expertly brewed. What stood out even more was the incredible service. Just visited ChapinMayan for the first time, and we absolutely loved it! The simplicity of the shop, the beautiful art, and the easygoing atmosphere made it such a great spot to relax and enjoy a good cup of coffee. Speaking of coffee--delicious! Rich, smooth, and clearly crafted with care. We also shared a breakfast sandwich on sourdough (can't quite recall the name), but it was amazing! It came with a side of fresh arugula mix salad with balsamic, which was a perfect complement. The service was great--friendly and welcoming from start to finish.
