This one is tough. It is a bakery with desserts like eclairs and cake and cheesecake. I ordered a cream puff, my friend ordered cheesecake and a sweet cream cheese muffin. I'm sorry to report that the sweets were not great. Desserts looked better than they tasted. However, we also ordered a breakfast burrito and a breakfast sandwich which were delicious. I was looking for a local breakfast spot and wanted to try somewhere different, so I decided to check this place out after seeing that it had pretty good reviews. It's a very small café located in Pico Rivera inside a shopping center, which makes parking really easy and accessible. The inside is very fresh, clean, and nicely updated. When you walk in, the display of cakes and desserts immediately catches your eye, they look delicious and definitely tempting while you're sitting down for breakfast. For breakfast, we ordered a short stack of pancakes, the breakfast combo, and an avocado toast. Everything was very much like a traditional breakfast and tasted good overall, no complaints. I especially liked the avocado toast. Every place seems to have its own variation, and this one had a slight salsa flavor to it, which was actually really good and a nice twist. This little spot has been popping up when I have searched for different local coffee spots to try. Finally decided to pop in with the family this weekend. The place is pretty small, but the tables were available. Service was great. We were acknowledged as soon as we walked in despite there being a few people being attended. I ordered iced horchata latte and my husband got the Nutella latte. Sandwiches, I shared with my son, he chose tuna, and husband went with the pesto. Drinks were delicious, and so were the sandwiches. We ordered a few desserts to go and those too were delicious. Definitely regret not going sooner. read more

Tried this spot after seeing it had good reviews. Not super impressed. I had the avocado toast and my daughter had the French toast. She got a kids drink and I got an horchatta latte. The avocado toast was good, but I asked for no cheese and didn't know that it came with crema since it was not on the description. If I had known, I would have told them no crema. It was packed with onions too. Overall it was good. The horchatta latte; however, was not great. Had no flavor and the coffee was overpowering the drink. My daughter loved the French toast. Small spot with only three tables that give little room for people to be comfortable sitting next to each other. It has a small, local feel to it. Service was friendly, but they forgot our water and we had to ask them for it. They bring the food to the table. read more

Was having breakfast at Salsa and grabbed a horchata Latte on our way out. The hubby got a chocolate cheesecake. Both were amazingly tasty. The service was friendly and they shared a little about their story when asked how long they had been there. Family owned and freshly cooked items. I knew instantly we would be back. We browsed the menu and the very next morning I sent my hubby back to get me the Horchata Latte and a breakfast sandwich!! Delicious it was more than what I expected. Ingredients were fresh and the sandwich was so uniquely tasting. It came with a side of pickles, jalapeños, and potato salad. Next will be the Tuna. If you haven't tried it's a must. So far I only tried the bread pastry. Tasted like stale hot dog bun, cream was just ok, and fruit is old. Besides the oranges, the fruit displayed on the cake looks old too. We had to make an extra trip to the market to replaced everything with fresh fruit. Sincerely hoping the cake is decent, if not then I have no idea how this place has a 4.7 rating. I will update once I try the cake. Service was friendly so two stars. Update: If you're looking for a moist and tasty cake, this is not it. Highly not recommended. Would never ever come back. I came here on a Thursday and the place was near empty. It's a small hole in the wall but the food and service makes up for it. I was greeted immediately. The host was extremely kind and helpful. Last minute search for a breakfast/brunch type spot and found Marin Cafe. It's located in an area off of Rosmead that shares a small parking lot with Zapien's Salsa Grill. It is a small lot but there's parking on the other side. I went while it was raining in the morning around 9 so it was pretty empty. The cafe is a small shop with 3 four-seater tables so not good for huge groups. But the decor was really cute and cozy. A mix of cafe and small bakery. Love the painted walls with the cake and bakery items painted on. There was a large display case of various bakery good from conchas, to croissants, to cakes and cake slices. Everything looked so good. Brisa (I hope I didn't spell her name incorrectly, apologies!) was our barista and she was lovely. Very friendly and let us take our time, she answered my bf's questions about the food. We chatted here and there and then placed our orders with her. She kept us updated on our food as they made the wrong sandwich for me and needed to remake it which was no problem and appreciated. The food was delicious! We ordered a concha, with an Abuelita hot latte, a mocha hot latte, breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich. Recommend the Abuelita hot latte for sure, perfect on a rainy cold day. The chocolatey spice from the Abuelita was so good with the espresso, the mocha was great as well great blend of chocolate and coffee. Now the breakfast sandwich was bomb, presentation and taste were great. Eggs were hot and fluffy, bacon crispy, with ham, and refreshing tomato avocado and lettuce with a honey mustard type sauce. It also came with a side of potato salad, pickles and banana peppers. The potato salad is EXACTLY how I like it, not mayonnaise-y and sweet. Brekfast burrito was nice and filling too, bf said he'd definitely add bacon next time as mine was crispy in my sandwich hash browns were crispy and the creamy lime cilantro sauce was so good with it. I also ordered a slice of the mocha tres leches cake...so good not overly sweet and mocha wasn't too strong. The cake was overly saturated with milk which I would've like but it had the right amount of moistness so not to make it soggy. All in all definitely reccomend this little gem of a cafe. Owners and staff are all friendly and the food and drinknwere fantastic. Definitely coming back for more cake! read more

The owners and the people who worked here could not have been nicer. They were super helpful when my order came out incorrect and they fixed it in a heartbeat. Their "House Ice Coffee" tastes exactly like Coffee Ice Cream. It's delicious. Solid breakfast burrito (get it with pico de gallo and avocado) and even better service! If you are in the area this is one of the best neighborhood small businesses. Oh and the decorations are mostly gifts from customers. Marin Cafe makes delicious cakes! Specifically, their tres leches is my go-to standard cake if I need to pick something up for a special occasion. It's moist and not too sweet. I've also had the mocha tres leches and lemon shortcake and feel the same about both. They also sell cheese rolls at a good price. I like Porto's more but at this price, I can't complain. I wish they had been able to stay in Montebello but at least this Pico Rivera location isn't too far from their old one! read more
