Been a lot of talk about best burgers lately. I have to tip my hat to the Raleigh staple Char-grill. The burgers have that fabulous char grill taste, the fries are perfect, the milkshakes are thick and delicious but nothing beats their apple turnover. Remember when McDonald's deep fried their apple turnover and it had that crispy outer shell with the hot and delicious apple filling ? This is that hot apple turnover and this location offers it rolled in cinnamon sugar. Can't recommend it enough read more

I'm a California resident and love my burgers. That being said, I wanted to try the best burger in the east and when visiting Clayton I came across Char Grill and decided to try it out. I don't think I've scarfed a burger down so fast in my life. If I wasn't careful, I would have lost fingers. You could literally taste the freshness with every bite. On top of that, the staff was extremely friendly (and patient) with me. Everything on the menu looked enticing and delicious. I actually ended up coming back here the next day with my wife and daughter and they equally enjoyed it. Southern hospitality really shines here and it made the whole experience more enjoyable. I don't usually write reviews but this place had THAT kind of an impact. Whatever you guys are doing and whatever ingredients you're using, please keep it up. The staff at Char Grill is great!!! I go to the drive thru and everone working the window have ALWAYS bee soooo friendly. They really like their jobs!!!! Especially, Mikey and Yasman---not to mention, Craig, the manager. Don't know his secret--but he really has some happy workers. Which is hard to find these days. read more

Used to be a quick and great place to go for a quick lunch now you wait 20 minutes to to get your order in at lunch and wait another 10 minutes to get your food. Please do better. Food and service has really gone down hill. read more

Great little place off of 70 Behind KS Bank and Beside Bank Of America and the car wash. My mistake was I ordered a #1 and finding out that you should read the small print or you end up with a half pound hamburger ! Overall the service was great, the drive thru was quick and everything I ordered was correct. A much better fast food experience compared to the major chains. Will be back again when I'm running on a tight schedule and need a quick bite, however a junior will do just find the next time, Burp!!! read more

Always hot food and generally fast service. Place looked very clean tonight. They have a tendency to overcook into the grill items. Chicken is on the dryer side almost every time. Tonight same as well as the hamburger. Burger was completely black around the edges and very dry. So dry that had to go back to get it made again. They were very accommodating and got the replacement out quickly. Burgers are their main item and you'd expect they would be good at it. read more

Let me add something before a food review, fellow working the register was having issues. The manager calmly & incredibly politely walked him thru the proper steps to modify the order and then patted him on the shoulder. It was amazing to see someone treat staff well instead of berating them ! ok food, kids meal chicken tenders were delicious and fries were tasty. Jr devoured the whole thing in 2 minutes. Wife had a grilled chicken sandwich that lasted 4 bites it was so good and I had a double char cheese burger that was outstanding. we shared an awesome cheese fries which have a nacho type cheese sauce, just a hint of heat. So we went through the drive through to get a cheeseburger for my son. I decided to add one for me too. The drive thru was not busy but I think they were busy inside as we did have to wait a couple minutes to get someone on the speaker. The employee was friendly and genuinely seemed to care about us as a customer. The food tasted delicious and we enjoyed every bite! The prices are reasonable as well. The only thing I was sad about was that I didnt know they had a shamrock shake on special until I got to the pay window. I wish I wouldve known when I was ordering so I could've added it. Still a great place to eat at. After my terrible experience with BWW in Garner, I headed here to eat. The steak sandwich is always good. It has the feel of a small town cafe. This is on me my top choices to eat at in Garner. I wanted to have the great experience of eating in a sports and wing spot with my boys but it didn't work out. Let me say this location is the worse!! I got a bbq sandwich, onion rings, and apple turnover. The onions were full of grease and soggy. The bbq sandwich was just plain disgusting and they bagged my turnover at the bottom which the food ultimately crushed! But I can't get over how much grease was on the food and on the bag. This place is truly disgusting. I recently moved to Clayton from North Raleigh and was under the impression that all Char Grills was as amazing as the one in North Raleigh. Well, this place has truly move me wrong. After three attempts with three different food selections ( a grilled chicken sandwich, a strawberry milkshake and a kids chicken fingers meal) I am forced to give u a rating of a one. I could not eat my chicken sandwich because a fly flow out of my wrap sandwich as I was unwrapping it. (Bible) The Milkshake was lumpy and had a sour smell to it and finally the kids meal was so oily the bag ripped open. I will never come back to this place read more

Worst service! Employees could careless about customers, not polite. Food left to sit in counter, employees kept calling wrong order number. After messing up several other orders was told this was my order. I asked to have it remade due to food sitting on counter for over ten minutes. Employees response "no one touched it". A food-poisoning diagnosis (written) was taken to the rude general manager last week. His first words to us were "make it quick, I only have 30 seconds." His next expression was a threat of corporate lawyers, then laughter as he was walking away. Our daughter has recovered and over the years we have experienced very few issues with the food or service. If you don't want to be humiliated, don't report serious problems. I've never had a problem at this location prior, but today I was astonished. I drove up to the drive through at 9:50pm seeing as they do not close till 11. They asked me to wait because they "only had one register open as they were closing" I had to wait about 7 minutes. Once I finally ordered and arrived at the window a young girl came out and grabbed my card, didn't say a word to me and brought it back, didn't say a word again. I then waited for my food and a man came in, an employee and started saying "these people think we don't have lives and we can be here all night" while staring at me. This was the rudest service I've received in Clayton thus far. I'm from Miami I know what rude service is about and this was at par. Also, they forgot the fries. Not wasting my time there again, Taco Bell is more appeasing. read more

It takes 45 minutes to get through the drive-thru despite there only being three cars there. Drinks are all ice. Toppings were incorrect on both burgers ordered. And management has the audacity to have the workers shove the card reader out the window so that the customer is prompted to tip. read more

Very disappointed with the restaurant. I went here one night, order a chicken sandwich combo with bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato and mayo. It was over $9, which is kind of high to me, but I just went with it. I was the only car in line, but I waited in the drive through for 15 minutes. :-( When I got my food home, I noticed that my chicken sandwich had just lettuce and mustard on it; after having been charged over a dollar for the cheese and bacon. I was tired and didn't feel like going back there AND I figured they'd offer a coupon or replacement for my next visit. I knew immediately that I wouldn't be going back, so I just chalked it up as a loss and ate the little bit of cold fries they gave me with the meal. read more

Chargrill has been a favorite of mine since high school. I was really happy when I heard this location was opening. I love the fact that you can get a burger, fries and a drink for around $7. It's hard to find a good burger place that offers that. However, I will say that the burger size has definitely decreased since the original opened yet the price has gone up. I suppose that's typical business bit it's why I left 4 stars instead of 5. Every time I have been the food has been made just as ordered and has come out quickly. I generally get a steak Jr. and it is always cooked right. I love their French fries because they are slightly crispy on the outside but still soft in the middle. I also love their chocolate milkshakes because they taste malty rather than like chocolate syrup mixed into vanilla ice cream. Overall I would recommend Chargrill for those looking for an old-fashioned burger and fries. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is also really inviting. read more

The only reason I put four stars is because I believe that there is always room for improvement... in this Chargrill there's very little room for improvement the Service is great, without a doubt cleanest char-grill I've ever been in and of corse the food is good too. I also believe the shakes are top of the line super thick and more flavors then cook out. I have going to this location for years. The best customer service and food always has been good. Last week I ordered the Carolina Dog meal as I always do on Friday's . Carolina dog comes with coleslaw . I always say all the way with coleslaw For the past two times get al the way home no slaw . So I aske for the manger when I was ordering on a Friday when the lady asked me 3 time to say my order over . they gave me 2:00 off for the trouble great . I think the manger made my order . I get all the way home no slaw AGAIN . So I called hey after all that my order is wrong again. They said keep your receipt when you come back. I just came from there today 1/21/21 . I am going out of town so I was like I will go today instead of Friday cause I wont be here . Older man comes and says no we can't do anything fr you . Well you told me to come and bring my receipt. " No no we can't do anything your order was right last time . OMG !!!!I am not homeless person trying to scam a hot dog . I was told to come back . I was so mad and upset that I just left . Burger was average, the pork sandwich I bit & threw out. By the way I almost eat anything. The wife was the winner with the " steak sandwich" which was just a bigger burger.
