Lunch with one of my staff members. It has been awhile since I've been to a Five Guys, mostly because I'm trying to watch my weight. One small meal at FG generally translates to at least 2 caloric meals during the day, add fries and it can be the entire day's worth of caloric intake. The burger here was great, I specifically did not order fries (watching calories as much as I can considering the circumstances). Our meal at the Garner location tonight was very enjoyable, but what made this evening so memorable is that I mistakenly left my purse behind and didn't discover it until we were 30 mins across town in Raleigh. My husband called Five Guys and it turned out, someone there had all ready found my purse which was hanging on the back of chair, and they were holding it there until we returned. I pulled up the receipt, gave them my name, order number, what was on the order and they still sat there and told me I didn't place an order. ...then turned around and said, 'oh wait, yes we do'. My 14 year old daughter ordered a bacon cheeseburger and didn't notice that they charged her $8.50 for a double bacon cheeseburger. I am going to preface this review by admitting I have read reviews both here and in city pages regarding this chain and have been 50/50 on if I wanted to give a higher-priced burger spot a shot. This visit had me stopping in because I was craving a burger and wanted to avoid a passing storm. In my younger higher-metabolism days I frequented many fast food places and the smell of a burger joint elicits some fond memories. This place elicited such a response. Great smells and it was making me even hungrier. There was a new employee getting training on how to do the burger line so I watched just to get a feel of how this place operated. Burgers went from one topping section to another just like you'd see done at a pizza joint or Subway. It didn't look all that impressive but I wasn't about to hinge my opinion of watching the building process. Based on the reviews I decided not to risk the large option and went for the medium fries. That was still a mistake. I swear 2/3 of my bag was fries and even I couldn't finish them all. As for the burger I went for the classic cheeseburger with pickles, mustard and ketchup. Unwrapping the burger from the foil I knew that this was going be a greasy undertaking. And it was. But.... it was really tasty. I have to say I enjoyed every tasty, greasy bite. I demolished that burger so thoroughly and so quickly that even I was surprised. I could taste that grease for a good two hours. Will I come back? Yes, when I am craving a good greasy burger. And as long as I have a straight shot to the nearest restroom in case of intestinal distress. Totally worth the distress. Even at $13+ for a meal. read more

One of my favorite burger places in the area. A classic that never misses, no matter the location. I always get the same thing: double burger with cheese, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, A1 steak sauce and sometimes jalapeños if I'm feeling adventurous. By far the best combination I've had. I always forget how big of a portion the fries are, but even the small is more than enough to share between two. And the peanuts to snack on while you wait is a great touch. I think the price is more than worth the amount of food you get. Only complaint is I wish they would serve the burgers in something besides wrapped in tin foil, since the it sometimes crush the burger and makes it soggy, even if eating there. I've been here several times, but decided to treat my 8 year old son and take him for the first time. He loved everything about it. We took our food to go, and when we got home, I shared my fries with my 3 yr old. I was shocked at her response because she never eats fries and always says she doesn't like them. No joke, she kept coming back for more fries, and kept talking about how good they were! I agree with her. I don't eat here very often, but I always get the same thing (little bacon cheeseburger with mayo, ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, fries, and a chocolate shake). I am always satisfied. Tonight we used the delivery service through the Five Guys app. This is the fourth time and all I can say is WOW! The food has been amazing, good as it is when I pick it up plus they are so consistently great. No problems with the delivery and they always make sure to put their stickers on all the bags so you can tell if something has been messed with. It is so very rare to find any company that can manage a great product with so much consistency. Please don't worry about ordering from this store regardless of whether you are picking up or having it delivered. Honestly, can't be more positive about just how good my experiences have been. I'm Soooo happy to have a Five Guys in Garner! Both times I've ordered On-Line and then drove down there to pick up my food. On Sunday it was AWESOME... the place was PACKED, the lines to order and to pick up were long, and almost every table was full. But since I ordered and paid ahead of time on-line, I walked right past the lines, straight to the Pick Up area where I was quickly greeted, I told them my name and they said my order is ready! There are plenty of burger places. But Five Guys takes freshly made burgers and fries to another level. I ordered the Regular Bacon Cheeseburger. All I can say is this burger is awesome and very large. There was plenty of bacon and fixings on this double-stacked burger. The French fries are perfect. Be prepared to encounter a large bag of fries that you can easily share with another person and still have some left over. I have not had the chance of trying a milkshake but I did manage to see one at the next table. It looked amazing. I must try that next time I visit. Plenty of parking and seating indoors and outdoors. The place is a bit on the noisy side, but if you want a break then I would recommend outdoor seating.
