Char-hut has been one of my family's favorite places for years! They somehow take a classic hamburger and hotdog and make them next-level good. I get a cheese dog meal, and they have a great variety of sides. I get maduros, which is a nice change from the usual fries. Their onion rings are also really good, thin, and crispy. This location was great! Service was friendly and quick, and my order was correct and delicious. They've started making their own soda, which was okay. First time at Char Hut for lunch and I had no idea they prep your burger (or chicken) to order in front of you. I chose a small combo which included a choice of side, cookie, and fountain drink. Side options included fries, onion rings, baked potato, and a few other options. Choose your burger toppings when the patty is ready: everything from classic lettuce, pickles, and ketchup to cooked onions, cooked mushrooms, sweet peppers, and more. Burger was simple and good. My fries were fresh out of the frier, but bland as could be. My friend's onion rings were excellent; highly recommend. They have milkshakes too, so if I return I may try one as the cookie was boring and not satisfying to my sweet tooth. I now know why people have liked this place since many moons ago and if you're reading this and wondering, just give it a go. read more

Hubby and I have been coming here for years, as they have the best grilled chicken sandwiches in history, especially coupled with the poppyseed bun! Other people love the burgers here- there are very much like BurgerFi burgers to me, which I'm not crazy about. Before I discovered how great the Char-Chicken sammiches are I used to get the veggie burgers, which are excellent. The best part of Char-Hut are the toppings! You can add as many and as much as you want. I also recommend the Frings- Fries and Onion Rings/Straws - that way you can add some of the Onion Straws to your sammich :) The service is on the slow side because they are fresh-cooking your protein as soon as you order, but it is so worth it. I stopped in for lunch during the work week and enjoyed my meal, but was surprised with the cost. I ordered the #1 combo, which included a Char-Burger (added cheese) and plenty of extras that they offered & Frings (mixed fries & onion rings) w/ a fountain drink. We had a char burger which you tell them your temperature for the meat and they cook it to order. We also had the frings which is a great way to have both fries and onion rings. (Got mine medium while my wife wanted it well) they time them out perfectly and they are sent down the line if you want toppings. I got lettuce, onion, pickles ketchup and mustard. All the toppings were fresh and crunchy! These burgers never miss on char flavor and with your choice of roll, it's always delicious! It had a good flavor but service was super slow. They cater to the drive thru. You'd think after so many years they would get it right. My fries and burger were cold by the time they got around to calling my name. The grill guy made it but they let the burgers sit for quite sometime before they called you to top it the fries had sat then they just handed me cold on cold. This was my first time trying a Char-Hut. The inside is very old school diner/how McDonald's used to feel. You can tell the people who work there have been there a while. They were all kind. Char-Hut is a small chain of fast service restaurants owned by the Cammisa family who founded Char Hut in 1976. The family started the business over 40 years ago when they opened their first restaurant in Miami after moving to Florida from Buffalo. The family closed the Miami restaurant in favor of moving to southwest Broward. They specialize in hamburgers and chicken. Unlike other fast food places you can tell them how well you want your burger meat cooked and you can customize it with different toppings. The food is cooked to order. This place is an institution and you can't hang around this long in the South Florida restaurant scene unless you offer quality food. I have eaten at Char-Hut many times through the years and if you go inside you come out smelling like the grill. It is a breeze to order from the drive though and that is what I usually do. This was my first time visiting the Davie location which opened way back in 2003. You can find the restaurant along the side of State Rd. 84. I ordered the Char-Burger with cheese, which is the original 1/3 lb steak burger and I added a side of fries and a soda. The service was super friendly here and the food was great which I always expect from Char-Hut. It definitely satisfied my cheeseburger craving. I love that this is the kind of place where you don't have to beg for ketchup. They cheerfully offer it without you even having to ask. Count me among the Char-Hut fans. read more

I passed this restaurant at least 100 times and finally decided to stop and try. This place is right on SR84. Walking in restaurant is like a time capsule. Original Decore tables /chairs. I ordered a regular cheese burger with fries. I was surprised the burger was cooked right in front of me. Followed by toppings setup like subway. This burger was very fresh along with toppings. What really makes this burger unique is the Kaiser roll. On the downside the fries was cold and was no where close to be paired with the awesomeness of this burger. Customer Service was very bland. Char-Hut is supposedly a Florida staple. One of those places people down here grew up on and have nostalgia with. Its good, its cool. Its a made-to-order cheeseburger and fries shop. The burgers are good. You order at the counter, they cook the meat in front of you, you pick your toppings (like chipotle or subway), and go on your way. The soda fountain allows you to get free refills. Its fast food-ish. it is greasy, but good. It is not overly expensive. As an outsider, it is a solid choice for lunch. Nothing spectacular. I have been going to Char-Hut since I was a child. This location is fairly new, just within the last 5 years or so. It is one of the better "fast food" restaurants and some place I visit almost every time I am visiting family. There are a few locations around South Florida but this one is closest to my parents. What I love about this place is yes it is fast food BUT everything is cooked fresh and right in front of you. Nothing is premade, no pre-cooked burgers kept in a hot water bath or steamer, no fries or onion rings sitting there for hours. Everything is fresh. They do have a drive through but we have never used it. I would expect it to be a long wait since they do make to order. Inside has plenty of seating, tables and booths. It is not a giant restaurant so on busy days it can be very crowded. Once you order, you wait in line as they freshly cook your burger or chicken sandwich. They do have different size burgers as well as different bun options. My favorite and classic Char-Hut bun is the poppy seed. Then it moves down the line to the toppings. You can add whatever toppings you like including the typical burger toppings (lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions) as well as some unique toppings, (mushrooms, red peppers, sweet peppers, jalapenos, sauerkraut and more). As your sandwich cooks, they toast the bread and freshly cook any fries or onion rings you ordered. They also have veggie burgers, grilled tuna, hot dogs and create your bowl type entrees. I have always gotten the char burger with cheese as it is really the best sandwich. They also have combo meals which includes a drink and either fries or onion rings for an up charge. My parents have AARP which also gives them a discount, just FYI. If you are visiting South Florida or live there and need a quick meal I would highly recommend Char Hut. I've been coming to Char-Hut my whole life (all locations). I haven't been to this location in a while but it seems as nothing has changed. The quality of the burger is great, and so is the service. Everyone is friendly and helpful. You get to watch them cook right in front of you. You have a variety of bun choices as well as toppings. They also have other things on the menu aside from burgers. I ordered the charburger with cheese on a wheat bun. It was cooked perfectly. I shared fries and onion rings with my family. This basic char burger is 9.99 as of the time of writing and also the service isn't great. It took nearly 15 minutes sitting in the drive-through to get one burger, and the store was not busy. The employees here are really pleasant and helpful. You then move to a counter pay and wait to be called. The place is pretty clean. I ordered the cowboy. I got to order it completely to my taste. I got to choose how I wanted cooked. What toppings and condiments to add. Everything looked good. The Cowboy burger was great. The meat itself had plenty of flavors. The condiments and fixings worked well together. I liked it. I must say the onion rings here are exelent. They where my favorite thing. Great taste to them. I would order them again. I think the way you rate Char Hut depends upon which food category you are viewing it in. As a "fast food" type of place, char hut's array of offerings and food is really up there. The burgers, made fresh to order are thick, juicy, and flavorful! Husband loves the Cowboy Burger with bacon, cheese, and onion rings. The onion rings are small, crispy, really fantastic. If you can't choose between the onion rings and fries, get a platter with both! Other sandwiches you can order include chicken, steak, and hot dogs. I like that they have healthier options at Char Hut. I was not thrilled with the yellow fin tuna ( it did not taste "sushi grade" and I did not expect it to). The veggie burger is okay. Some times I will order a salad with chicken. The chicken is always freshly grilled and tasty. I just wish there were some more items for the sale besides lettuce and and the burger "fixins". I love that baked sweet potatoes are available and rice and beans are on the menu as well. Service is usually pretty fast. Give your order at the front, then pay at the cashier, get your food at the grill and let servers know what you want on your food. The dining room (when it was open) could have been bussed/cleaned a little better. Right now Char Hut is still delivery/take out only. Char-Hut gives you a classic burger in Davie. Surprisingly, I've never heard or even seen Char-Hut in all my years of living in Broward but we decided to get some burgers after playing pickleball. Situated in the plaza with Round Up right off of 595, you can satisfy a quick burger craving here. I haven't been to a burger spot quite like this, with them grilling the patties right in front of you. When your burger is ready, they call your number and you can choose from a variety of condiments and toppings. I did like that you could pretty much customize your burger in this way and got to see your choices right in front of you. I got the Jr. Char-Burger which was a 1/6lb patty. You can choose from a ton of condiments- with an array of sauces, veggies and premium toppings for an extra charge. I got the shredded lettuce, pickles, and cooked mushrooms. They go light when adding, so make sure to keep an eye on it if you want more. For sides, my table shared cheese fries, regular fries and onion rings. I used the onion rings in my burger to give it that extra crunch- 10/10 recommend! The fries had the right amount of crisp and the cheese sauce was so good. If you're thinking about it- get the cheese sauce. Our other friend thought it was so good and ended up buying a side of the sauce for her regular fries and it cost a $1 for a tiny container. I also got a junior-sized chocolate custard shake because... dessert. The inside is a little bit dated and has the wear and tear of a normal fast-food joint that's been around for years. The TVs were pretty old but still playing a movie/show to entertain any guests. If you're looking for a burger and quick spot with no frills, Char-Hut is a pretty good place for it. read more
