Bison Chili with Jalapeño Corn Bread

This sports bar is well worth the visit if staying in the hotel, and the food and staff are both worth stopping in for if you're nearby. All the food was good with a special call out to the Bison Chili, and Reuben sandwich, which were both standouts!

Fantastic food here. Ate 7 nights in a row during a stay. Also, the waitstaff is excellent.

I stayed at the hotel with my husband this summer where this little nook of a bar sat below. On our first night arriving here, after a drive from Salt Lake City through the Rockies, it was just the spot we were looking for to fill up our empty tanks. We walked into this bar where there were a half dozen raised tables and seats adjacent to a rather full and well adorned bar with sports memorabilia and signed autographs. A juke box played patrons' requests in the rear not far from a popcorn machine where one could get a fresh box for free of delicious popcorn. If sitting at the bar or on elevated seats isn't your thing, they also have normal size tables scattered throughout the rest of the space. There were even two tables that were actually old school video games with glass counter tops. One could play with a partner the classics, like Galaxy or Pac Man. When we first walked in, we were warmly greeted. We sat the high seats and glanced over a menu that had the usual pub style food. My husband asked for a beer recommendation. With a straight face, the waiter recommended Coors. Then he realized my husband was looking for something that was actually palatable. After offering a few more options, we put in our order and received our food pretty quickly. We both got burgers, his with fries and mine with onion rings. The prices were right and the food mouth watering. We liked it so much that a few nights later before we departed we went again. This time I challenged my husband to some video games while we had dessert. I had the berry with creme anglais and he had cheesecake. We couldn't have had our sweet tooth satisfied more. I am definitely delighted to have discovered this little nook in such a convenient place when the weary traveler just wants something close by.

Character's Sports Bar is located inside of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Denver. The hotel is currently under renovations and hopefully they will renovate the sports bar as well. The decor was dated and not very clean and the menu was limited to say the least. I opted for local beer over the food and enjoyed a can of The Great Divides' Colette Farmhouse Ale. With many food and brewery options in the area, I decided to eat and drink elsewhere.

I've been coming here for many years. I haven't had a bad meal. Every time I arrive or when I have a departure from Denver airport, I stop here. The shrimp pasta was very delicious. The service is awesome. Enjoy! #SeñorFood

Food was decent, service was a little lacking - 1. Waited 10 minutes to be noticed. 2. Another 10 for a drink menu 3. Asked them if they could put on the NBA playoff game on the TV near me. Surprised an NBA playoff game wasn't on in a sports bar, but whatevs. Took a second request for them to try to change the channel. They changed it to Fox News and then it took another ten minutes to get them to change it to the game. I think an entire quarter went by. A least I got to catch up on what Giuliani has been up to. 4. I order a cup of chili and a salad, both were decent, but nothing special. Probably took 30 minutes for them to come and about an hour after I sat down. The chili had a nice spice to it, but overall was a bad thing because I couldn't get a glass of water. 5. They brought me two salads. An easy mistake to make with a big group, but I was eating alone. Two salads? 6. When they brought the food there was no silverware, which they promptly went and got, but just a knife and fork which wasn't optimal for eating chili. 7. I ordered a glass of the Hess Shirtail Cab. They brought me house cab, which was terrible. At least it was only half the price. 8. I finished my food, the game ended and it took another 20 minutes to get a check, which gave me plenty of time to write this review. They were pretty busy so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt of maybe being understaffed, but it was a comically bad experience.

The bartender (Jessica) needs some training on how to talk to guests and make a proper drink. Terrible service.

Only got it to go but the food was good and the Colorado Burger was delicious. Highly recommend for a hotel restaurant.

Beer is good and price is pretty good for a hotel bar. Food is bland though and staff always seem to be overwhelmed leading to slow service.

I love Esters. I've tried a ton of dishes there and honestly nothing has been a disappointment…read more Some of my favorites are Esters nachos, the of the earth pizza, and the chicken Caesar wrap with bbq chicken. Their salads are also always so good. The produce is super fresh and their combos are usually surprising. For example, I just recently had their seasonal green goddess salad and it had farfalle pasta noodles which was so fun. Some of their menu is seasonal, so get what you like before it rotates out! The Oneida park spot is really cute. I love the interior and they have a great covered patio for more all-weather seating. Parking is always fairly easy as you can park in the nearby neighborhoods if needed.

The whole atmosphere here is very family-friendly. There's a large open outdoor area where kids were running around and playing, and being right next to a soft serve spot makes it even better for families. Inside, it had a great sports bar vibe without feeling overwhelming. They had all the NBA and NHL playoff games on, and I could easily see myself coming back here to catch a game and grab food with friends. The beer selection was also solid, with a nice variety of local breweries and ciders. For food, we started with the roni rolls, which were really good. The portion isn't huge, but it's perfect for sharing between 2-4 people. The menu mentions allowing extra time for them to come out, but ours arrived surprisingly quickly. We also split a half Caesar salad, which was pretty standard but worked well as a lighter course between appetizers and pizza. The highlight was definitely the Catapult pizza -- really flavorful and absolutely worth ordering. Would definitely recommend the pizzas here overall. For dessert, we went with the brownie skillet sundae based on our waiter's recommendation. It's basically like a smaller brownie version of a pizookie. The edges were a little overdone from the hot skillet, but overall it was still really good. If you're a brownie fan or just have a sweet tooth, it's definitely worth trying. Great energy, great setup for families and sports fans alike, and a place I'd happily come back to.

This was my first Culinary Dropout experience which was on a date night and dinner outing. There was ~45 minute wait for a table as it was "dinner rush hour" before the weekend. We were seated in the bar area at a high top so we were very close to live music performer! So that was an enjoyable portion of the experience! The interior was dimly lit, loud and lively, and offered a rustic but modern feel. Based on this experience, food was overpriced and mediocre. We tried the fish and chips ($23) and fried chicken ($26). We were disappointed the fish and chips were not served with fresh lemon to "baptize" the fried fish. Fries were limp and didn't seem fresh. Also thought the fried fish should have had a crispier crust. The fried chicken was good flavor and texture on fried crust but the white meat was very dry. Mashed potatoes and gravy were lukewarm and not served hot. Also I tried to season the mashed potatoes but the pepper grinder at the table was completely empty. Biscuit was dry, overcooked, and lacked butter. Probably will opt for other options next date night.

There was bar seating, high tops and then some lower tables with a shelf full of games. Some of the watch party guests had kids with them and they spent the time in that area playing. I loved that they have four screens set up to be one giant screen, and as someone with bad eyesight it really made a difference. Their bathrooms had multiple stalls and were better than most bar restrooms I've been in. I would absolutely come back here for a watch party or just for a pint.
