We ended up at this place for lunch last minute. We walked it it was dark and gloomy, not much people in main seating area. More noise at the bar. Looks like a family owned restaurant. Not that busy. It took about 25-30 mins to get our food out. I ordered a cheeseburger with added green chili and bacon. My friend had the 3 item combination plate. I wasn't feeling mexican food, but I did snack on the free chips and salsa. The chips were warm and fresh. I enjoyed my burger everything was good. I got crinkle fries with it. My friend said her food was good as well. The only thing I didnt like was the smell of cigarettes when you walk in. I am not sure why restaurants in Texas have so many smoker friendly places. read more

The waiter had to come back 3 times to ask about our order. There were only 2 of us and nothing special to our orders. The place was dirty and the food was absolutely disgusting. My husband even thought so and he is in no way picky. And to top it off before we were able to depart the establishment I spotted 2 roaches - 1crawling up the wall and one across the floor by our table. read more

I hate to say this because Gerardo is an elementary buddy but the bartender Lisa was extremely rude and said "you two bitches need to slow down" out of nowhere to my friends. From my understanding this is not the first time. This is unacceptable. I don't know how management doesn't know about her attitude. I'm not removing this unless something is done. read more

This place is a quaint place. The food is excellent. The service is pretty slow. Don't go here if you are in a rush. The brisket tacos are the best in town. My wife always gets the chicken nachos which are delicious. The service holds this back from 5 stars. read more

The red sauce here is way too sweet. Like, sugary sweet. I didn't like my enchiladas because of that. The service was fine though.

This place is very close to my house so I was excited to try it. It has a very cool atmosphere when you walk in but that's about it. The salsa tasted extremely watered down and the food was just mediocre. I always try to give restaurants a second chance and when I went just a few months later it was no better. My waitress seemed extremely annoying as soon as she came to the table and argued with another waiter several times throughout the time we were there. The food was equally off putting. We definitely won't be giving Charla's another try. read more

We had heard good things about this place and always saw lots of cars so we gave it a try today. The food is authentic in the flavor combinations but it loses its appeal because if the ambience. I had the rellenos with sour cream, pecans and raisins because I love them like that at La Bodega here in town. The problem was nothing was temperature hot or particularly spicy either. Hubby had combo plate and was generally satisfied. Beans and rice are very good, queso was good and grandson had chicken strips and fries that he liked. My grandson ordered a drink in a cup with a lid. (Cuz he is a kid( He drank it all and we asked for a refill...WHICH THEY CHARGED for... I guess. We were already out if the restaurant when we saw the extra charge. We were either scammed or he was charged for a soft drink refill!! That phantom extra 2.50, along with ambience that makes you feel like you are in a store room or something, lack luster service, and over all prices...means we Prob won't be back...the food just not worth returning. Charla's is perfect for relaxing with your friends and enjoying conversation. A jukebox keeps the place lively but is quiet enough so you can hear what everyone's saying. The beer on tap is very cold(get a pitcher!), and the mixed drinks are usually quite strong. The food's above average for Midland and the salsa is exceptional! read more
