My husband loves this spot so while we were near he had to take us to try them out. Typically he comes during the week for work and they have a lunch buffet which I'm sure is what they're best at because I was not fully impressed at all with our dinner on a Saturday night. The restaurant is humongous and beautifully decorated with vibrant colors. Service was okay but didn't feel very welcoming. They have complimentary chips and salsa which he bragged about but our visit the salsa was overly salty, unfortunately. My chicken meal was dry so I started eating off the chicken fajitas my son ordered and it was better. I'm guessing the cheese enchiladas my husband gets were great since he devoured his plate. I had high hopes especially when we drove 2 hours out of our way to try them but we may have visited on a bad day. I know my husband will keep coming so I'll definitely have to try them again possibly during the lunch buffet and hopefully I'll love them like he does. read more

Friendly Service Established in 1983 & their experience shows in the quality of their food. I've been in Midland all week and with the exception of Monday (because they're closed on Mondays), I have had dinner to go from here every night. I absolutely never do this but I ordered the same exact thing every night. The steak fajitas with à la carte cheese enchilada with red sauce. The steak fajitas are so good with that perfect char, I spent hours on Thursday trying to convince myself to eat at a different restaurant thinking something was wrong with me for how much I was craving the exact same thing and ended up just wasting gas because I ended up going back and getting the same thing all over again. read more

To be honest, more like a solid 3, but it was my first time and maybe I ordered wrong. The atmosphere was fun, energetic and inviting. Service was attentive, friendly and helpful. The food was just ok. I ordered the Tampiquena, which is a 3/4 inch ribeye smothered in grilled peppers and onions with a cheese enchilada, rice and beans. The ribeye was cooked well to a medium rare but most likely didn't rest. As a result, the entire plate was soupy. The margarita was a bit on the sweet side but I like mine more sour so not their fault. I'd go back and order differently next time. read more

As I hate to bash this place I have to. Really great atmosphere as it looks like you're in a Mexico City type of restaurant. The buffet looked lackluster but a steal if you're hungry. I had a smothered steak fajita burrito with red sauce. Sauce tasted like it was from a can, and the steak was just rubbery. Tasted like a pepper bomb. All I could taste was black pepper. The service? Very busy Mexican restdurant in Midland, TX close to the hotel district and very brightly colored ambiance. There were even colored tiles in the toilets.The food was pretty good and reasonably priced. We had a party of 6 and it took about 20 minutes to be seated on a Thursday night. Do not listen to the negative reviews, I have bypassed this place on numerous trips to Midland. The food is amazing, the service is amazinger!!!! Best crispy chicken tacos outside of Mexico!!!! I should have ordered more. My only negative was the red sauce on the enchiladas, very smokey and had a little bite to it, some sour cream cut it - I'll go verde next time. I read other reviews and just thought that they couldn't really be THAT bad, but I was wrong. The food was awful. Not just bad, but awful. I couldn't finish my plate and had absolutely NO desire to take it to go. Save yourself the wait and head over to Rosa's (not my favorite, but 100 times better than La Mision.) SOLD As I enjoyed the chips & salsa the menu choices were impressive. Press the chili rellenos but opted for Tacos Al Pastor and a Picadillo Taco (ground beef). The Al Pastor was a surprise with the pineapple chunks, diced onion, cilantro and Spanish sauce. Nice heat, bold al pastor but the tortillas were a little over done. I sat at the bar and the service was great. I ordered the chile con queso. There was absolutely no chile or an other veggie in the queso. It was straight cheese from the can. Hard pass. Ordered the 3 tacos with only beans. Beans needed a lot of love too. A bit of salt and here we go. The tacos needed something too. I asked if they had any salsa hotter than what they give you when you first sit down. Now, that salsa was the highlight of the dinner. Again this place does not disappoint, great service and the food is always delicious. I had just arrived in Midland for a few days and was looking for a place to grab lunch, it's close to my hotel and have eaten a few times. I was greeted and seated promptly, the servers were courteous and friendly. I love their menu because they have a little bit for every kind of food types, vegetarian, meat, lovers, or for the people who like to eat light, I decided to have the fajita salad with beef and so glad I did. The chips that they bring to your table are nice and warm and crisp, the salsa is delicious. The steak they used in the fajita salad was so tender and seasoned perfectly, they didn't overdo it with the guacamole on top, and the nacho chips in the salad were nice and crisp and the cheese was perfect. I'm surprised by the negative reviews. We were in from out of town and a friend suggested this place. Decor is so cute! We had a larger party and they would not seat us until everyone arrived. This is clearly stated at the front door. This may make some people upset but I totally get the rule. The margaritas were very good. They didn't taste like they weee made with one of those nasty mixes. We ordered the chicken enchiladas with green sauce and the steak fajita enchiladas with green sauce. Both were excellent. The chicken was not dry at all and seasoned nicely. Beans did not taste canned and the rice was also good. I like that they didn't put a bunch of extra stuff in their rice. This used to be the best place to go in Midland. We went on April 17,I hadn't been in 3 years due to moving away and was so looking forward. I was very disappointed. La Mision has been our favorite Midland eatery since 1984. We loved the old southside building but are pleased with the new location. The decor is awesome and the meals are consistently outstanding.
