Vegetarian review- this place is just wow! The service was so fast! They took our drink orders immediately upon sitting, then quickly came back to take our order, and the food magically appears in like 5 minutes! We were shocked! It was so quick! I love that kind of service! We were given complimentary chips and salsa. I got the veggie enchiladas, and my oh my! The plate was huge! 3 enchiladas with squash, onion, tomato, with rice and beans on the side. I ate half and took the other half home. The building was cute, trendy, clean, and lively. The floor was a bit slippery. If I ever come to midland again I will come back for sure! read more

Here we go again. This place goes from good to bad, then back to good every few months. This time it was bad. My wife is allergic to gluten. She has found that she can eat the regular tacos and they're fine. Last night she ordered the regular taco meal and the waitress brought out brisket tacos. My wife asked it they were gluten free and the waitress went back into the kitchen to verify it. When she came back she informed us that, yes, everything was indeed gluten free. She also said that she would take care of the ticket so that we were not charged the additional fee for the brisket tacos. Turns out that they DID charge extra for the brisket tacos (which we went ahead and paid) and my wife got sick about 2 hours later and had an upset stomach for most of the night. So, they lied about charging the additional fee for something we did not order, and they apparently made my wife sick. Will we go back? Yes! When hell freezes over. WE ARE SO DONE WITH THIS PLACE!!!!! read more

Pretty good food here. We enjoyed it thoroughly. The place was full and popping, yet chill. One thing I'll say about Gerardo's that they are fast! We ordered drinks and food and before we could even get halfway through our drink, dinner was served! Got the Carne Guisada. Very good! Pina colada coulda been sweeter but it was good too! My top shelf Margaritas came out fast but it didn't really taste like top shelf. It was supposed to have Donjulios in it. I added another shot of tequila for flavor. Then ordered the combination fajitas that was $18.95 (way over priced) and was brought out a plate with beans, rice and 5 small pieces of meat. I don't send food back ever but today sent back. Haven't been back to this place sense they re did it. Man still bomb. I got the ribeye steak with shrimp enchilada and shrimp. My wife got the chile relano with taco and cheese enchilada. My steak was cooked perfect and is seasoned very good. Melts in your mouth. Only bad thing on my plate was the shrimp, over cooked and lacked seasoning but I would still order this again. My wife said her plate was amazing but the only complaint she has is the chile rellano. Lacks seasoning and the breading wasn't up to par. We also tried the apple pie for dessert and the queso flamado for app. The queso isn't your traditional queso flamado, it's more tex mex but it's really good and Omgosh that apple pie dish is a must try, sweet and savory. Service is great and friendly. We will be coming back again to try other dishes that sounded amazing. Great atmosphere too. read more

They have the best margaritas and if you don't want dessert have a Hawaiian Lava flow cocktail an end to a perfect meal! Nice happy atmosphere golden decor. The food menu for Tex-Mex covered all the most popular food. The chips and salsa were very good. The roasted jalapeno salsa was spicy and very tasty. They served mild salsa as well. The street tacos did not disappoint. We also had a green burrito with a verde flavorful sauce and a chili relleno with queso. I ordered the shrimp avocado salad. The misstep came when they delivered the salad, no avocado. I did however request avocado but It took a bit to get the waitress's attention. Her service was less than desired. She seemed to not want to be there. We ordered a watermelon margarita which was too sour and a vodka martini, which came dirty and not ordered that way. It took a while for drinks to come from the bar which could have been the waitresses' fault. We really enjoyed the ambiance. It felt just like a street Casita in a small Mexican town. Overall the food was excellent, the ambiance quaint with the service less desirable. If you are craving Tex-Mex this is your place. read more

Best Mexican food I've had ever, anywhere. Their Santa Fe Catfish is out of this world. Their Apple Pie is absolutely better than my Grandmothers or mine! Don't hesitate to eat here. Walked in and sat down at the bar, nice bartender and great serve. I ordered a bear, has a couple tacos and also a really yummy cheese dip along with greasy chips and salsa. This place first opened up in 1977 and seems to be a favorite by the locals. The restaurant and the bar was very busy and I think all and all this is a good spot that everyone should try at least once. read more

We decide to give Gerado's another try and it's still the best margarita in town I also had the tortilla soup and this time it was awesome it could have been heated up a little more. I don't usually order fajitas because I'm Always disappointed ...but thought I would try the beef fajitas here and what a Great decision that was. They were fork tender served up with grilled onions, beans and rice..they also have guacamole but even though it looked fresh and yummy I can't eat it. The tortillas were fresh, hot and tasty!! My family has been going to Gerardos for over a decade. It's more than a restaurant to us it's where we go when we have something to celebrate. Over the years our family has grown into a ten top and they are always accommodating. The catfish ala Abe has always been a favorite. The vegetables seared on a fajita skillet with a catfish fillet on top, delicious. The La Botana is an often shared plate within the crew it comes with, half a quesadilla, two grilled tacos, two flautas , Tejano nachos, queso/SC/guacamole/pico. The service is prompt and adequate. Surprising enough Gerardos might make the best burger in town. The golfers burger is two patties cheese jalapeño diced on one patty. Each time my family has come here we have enjoyed it! The service most of the time is great. There have been a few times where it was a little slow but the servers are very friendly and attentive. Great hot sauce and the chips are always hot and fresh. As for meals, I'm one of those people that once I find something that I like I tend to order it every-time and I have the say the carne guisado burrito is my absolute favorite! My mom and son tried the red sauced one today on the lunch specials menu and both polished it off. Nothing left. The meat is so tender in a Mexican style gravy. You can't go wrong! My oldest enjoys the beef nachos and the little one is always happy with this cheese enchilada. The only thing I will say, and it's not a complaint more of a preference, is that I wish they had a different cheese sauce. The kind served here, like most places, is the basic yellow with the red and green soft peppers in it. I would love to have an option of a white cheese or something. I think that would really set them apart from others... but it's still great! Over all I'm a very happy and loyal customer to Gerardo's! read more

Mexican food in Midland is probably the easiest thing to find and this place is in a great location. Right on the corner of Neely and Big Spring. I order the El Norteno plate. This is a tortilla filled with juicy brisket and full of flavor. You can also get this smothered in queso if you really want to get the full satisfaction of this plate. Recommended to me by a local. I ordered the "El Gallo" lunch special. The salad was freshly cut with greens, cucumbers and tomatoes. The green enchilada had a great green chili flavor with the right amount of kick. The chicken was full of flavor along with the rice. Tea was freshly brewed and salsas tasted very fresh.
