Ah, life was so simple then. And it's been decades since I've been back, and my, how it's all come full circle: came through to celebrate one of my cousin's kids' birthdays. It is almost exactly as I remember it, but with upgrades. There are more picnic areas now, the playground is up to date, most everything is maintained so clean! It was kinda cool guiding the kids to kite flying and watching them play games during the party. For a few moments there, I was back to my pre-teen self again. I was told they have festivals here once in a while, so I really should keep up with their scheduled events! I loved it then, I still love it now. Glad it's still around and still maintained so well.

There's a community garden here with free mulch. There's a basketball court as well. I noticed lots of folks doing tai chi here. I also noticed groups of nannies meeting up here with their kids. There's no sand, dirt or wood chips at the playground area. The bad: One of the four swings could've used WD40. It was very squeaky. There was a man on the bench by the playground alone with a book who looked to be video recording the playground. I wasn't sure if it was innocent and he was potentially just video chatting with someone and showing them where he was but I was suspicious that a man would come alone and choose a bench by the loud children's play area to read rather than sit at one of the many other benches further away for a quiet space to read. The interesting: There's plenty of street parking. The playground is flat.

This is one of the few parks where fun trumps safety in terms of the playgrounds. As in, it's old school metal with zero safety measures so if you fall and hurt yourself, that's on you for not being athletic enough. Anyway, this park overlooks Torrance and on a clear day, you can see as far as DTLA if not further. In terms of the park itself, the rocketship playground is incredible, especially if you're a kid. You can climb up almost... I dunno, 20 feet or so and pilot your very own metal rocketship. If that's too scary, they have standard playgrounds around it too. It's a small park but a beautiful one that almost never gets crowded given its isolated location. One of my dreams was to ride swings with my partner here and well, safe to say it was fulfilled with many more dreams to come to fruition.

Very small. It took us less than 5 minutes to walk from one end to the other to the LO stopping to walk around the kids play structure. It's would be a nice place to sit and relax except one of the neighboring houses had some renovation going on and all we could hear was the drilling. Street parking is so easy I give it 5 stars because it's dedicated to fallen soldiers and it's not pretending to be something it isn't

The bigger kid play structure is pretty intricate, and has a lot of fun happenings. They have swings for both little kids and bigger kids as well. There's a big grassy area behind it, which is fantastic. The play structures themselves are in decent shape, for the location. The parents here seem pretty conscientious and engaged with their kids, which I really like. I would definitely come again.
