I appreciated Emma's opinion, her FABULOUS SKILLS and the beautiful result! I'll be coming back for more! I also received a spectacular blow out by Apsi. She also has AMAZING skills! I have been wanting to dye my hair again for the longest time, but I've been struggling to find a hair salon/colorist who will actually take care of my hair and can carry out my vision. While my partner was driving, I randomly thought to do a search, and this salon came up. And I am so glad that I found them! The services here are top-notch! Yes, they are more on the pricey side, however, you really do get that luxurious experience/vibe. I came in with these photos in mind (like, what kind of color I wanna do). They booked me in almost immediately for a consultation appointment and Lexi did 2 test strands on me. And then once we kind of figured out which color looks best on me, and we went with it. The result was absolutely amazing! Since then, I've came back several times for my touchup! Bought a Groupon deal for my sister for a Mother's Day treat for highlights and blow dry as her colorist moved and I thought this place was close to her. She went there, sat down in the actual salon chair for a good 15 minutes after having a 10 minute pre-service consultation; after another 20 minutes, the colorist had mixed the highlights up in her bowl, then found out my sister was there on a Groupon deal, went to the front desk guy, came back with him, and said she needed an upcharge to do her roots as well. My sister agreed to this upcharge and then they said they don't have someone who can blow dry her hair afterwards. She told them that they don't have to blow dry her hair and she will do it at home. They refused, made her get out of the chair even though the highlights were already mixed, and told her to reschedule for another day after wasting 45 minutes of her time and my time (driver). My sister said it was extremely embarrassing to have to get up out of the salon chair and walk out in front of all the other customers. On top of this, when my sister looked up her rescheduled appointment on the salon website, it was listed as "Groupon Full Highlight" and "Groupon Full Highlight Blowdry". I can not think of another reason why services were listed as "Groupon" on their website other than they change what quality of service they provide based on if you purchased a Groupon or maybe they recommend more upcharges. i dont know but it certainly is not a good look especially since if there was no one available to blow dry my sister's hair, then that could have been told to her when she arrived, not 45 minutes later. All that seemed to change was the salon finding out that the service was booked with a Groupon. Most certainly not going back there. read more

I have been a customer of this salon for over 20 years and have found the stylists and colorists to be excellent. Michel had been my stylist for many, many years and when he retired, I have used Max, who is an artist with hair as well as professional and kind. What more could I ask for? I had a very disappointing experience at this salon, especially with the front desk staff, John and Lexi. I arrived just a few minutes late for my Thursday appointment, and instead of trying to accommodate me, John turned me away very rudely. Lexi told me to come back an hour later. When I finally had my hair colored, the service felt rushed and careless. She didn't clean my scalp properly--my forehead and ears were stained and dirty. Not even a simple "Happy Birthday" was said, even though I mentioned it was a special day for me. The next day (Friday), I came back for curly styling, but they only offered a blow-dry. I reminded John that I had clearly requested curly hair for my birthday. He denied it and was extremely rude, even telling me, "don't come again" when I expressed my frustration. When I said I would leave a review, he said, "go ahead," which shows how little they care about customer experience. Thankfully, another salon was kind enough to fit me in and helped save my birthday. To the owner: you may want to pay attention to how your staff treats people. Rudeness like this will drive your customers away. Never back again for sure ! read more

The salon was nice, everything was timely. Prices were transparent but the service wasn't upto par. I walked in and showed them exactly what I wanted. My colorist said yeah we can definitely do that. As I went to get my hair blow dryed I noticed it was nothing like I asked. It was very streaky and did not look like a balayage. My colorist came back and said she will do root something and glaze again, we did that and i absolutely hated my hair. At this point I'd been there for 3 hours. She said she'll do foiling again and basically went through the whole process. At this point I felt bad and just didn't say anything but my hair are left with streaks. It looks like highlights and the color is no where near caramel. The color is such a dirty yellow. I would never recommend this place. read more

Updated Post: 02/07/24 I returned to the salon to redo my hair for a single process, and I was quite pleased with the results. Sienna along with the team did a phenomenal job fixing this situation. I am going to change the rating due to this most recent change and much better experience. Would be 5 stars if the original situation didnt occur. Due to the time it took out of my schedule to return and redo this situation for a better outcome, it wasn't the easiest to organize, especially for someone with a busy schedule. Someone actually said to me, I look like I have grey hair. Not a compliment a 29 year old should get when they have brown hair and got botched highlights. I paid over $400 for a bad experience and would like it to be fixed and a refund to be issued. I have been coming to Charles Ifergan for years but today everyone was rush including me, and the outcome shows that. I knew from the get go this would not turn out like usual because my stylist was running 25 minutes late and told me to hurry up and make a decision after only speaking with me for 5 minutes. I am truly saddened about this experience today! Even the receptionist was rude when I first checked in and she didn't bother to notify my stylist I had arrived. I had to ask her if she can notify her because I had already been waiting for around for 25 minutes. I overheard her saying to other employees all customers are being rude to her today, and whats wrong with everyone. I get she might be having a bad day, but say that in the backroom rather than on the floor where she can be overheard. Now coming from someone who has had over 16 years in customer service most of which I have managed employees, I would say there is some work that can be done at the Oakbrook location for customer satisfaction. I have been a client since 1990, about 32 years. My team was Arlene for hair color and Michel for hairstylist. I have never been disappointed. Since Michel retired, the transition has been smooth with Joey styling my thin hair and Arlene still coloring my hair. Everyone in the salon is very kind and generous. I'm visiting Charles Ifergan Salon for years. Last time that I went I wanted to completely change my hairstyle which was shoulder length hair and to go back to short hair , which I was wearing for years. I schedule my appointment with ZARA online. She ruined my hair. She cut it short in 10 mins. She doesn't know how to style it, she just cut it it with no regret. She is super lazy and she is everything but professional hairstylist!!!!! She barely blow dry it and she didn't even do any kind of style. It looked ridiculous!!!! It didn't have to do nothing with the photo I provided. Please see photos on what she did and what did I ask for. She could tell me that she doesn't know how to do short haircuts or that my hair is not same type of hair on picture, I mean she could do something before she completely ruined my hair!!!!! Lower part was cut too short and then my bangs were super long, I looked like a fool. It took her 10 mins and then you could see that she is nothing more then amateur!!!!!!! I was crying for 3 days , didn't go out. Btw, I could notice ppl staring at me on my way out. Specially girls at reception desk. I guess they saw terrible job she did. Yes, I did tip her accordingly~ but don't know how she thinks I was happy, as she didn't engage or talk thru-out the entire styling process. If you mean the young girl that checked me out, I didn't say anything about being unhappy with the cut: as I am sure your are aware~ after you wash your hair at home, you realize that the same hair was there the last morning. So now I am off paying for another hair cut at 3~. I will show her the same pictures that I showed Zara , and tell her the layers that I want off the body, not the length. I came back to Charles Ifergan due to an email for a complementary haircut with Lorna.I use to go to Devyn who was INCREDIBLE and then Clara both have left. So after the email I said what heck I'll go and give Lorna a try..Let me say I'm so glad I did she is amazing she listened and asked what my styling habits were and she suggested the perfect cut. It is hard to find someone to give me a good cut for my hair type which is thick and wavy and also a lot of hair. First let me say I am not easily impressed by the service industry. I usually walk out of most restaurants/salons with a "meh" opinion. However, today I received the best color/cut/ style I've ever had in life and my hair was a hot mess when I came in. Camilla did my color and she was so much fun to hang out with. I have an obscene amount of hair and was her last client on a Saturday. She didn't rush through it and never let on about how big of a job my hair was. The balayage came out beautiful. My hair was the color of a brass bed when I came in. I didn't know my hair could look so good. Zara did my cut and style and she rocked it! You can tell both ladies love what they do and their confidence let know I made a good decision. The salon was clean, friendly, unpretentious and I will be back for sure. I'm shocked by the one star reviews, really. I have been getting my hair cut and colored here for 15 yrs. And I get stopped regularly on street by strangers to ask where I get my hair done. honestly. I ve had perms, not permed, colored , not colored... shorter, longer.... and everything is awesome. Kimberly ( she's mentioned in other reviews) does a great job with me - and we always have a nice chat about the latest styling products, as well... I am really into my hair. We also talk about other things of course. and have a great laugh together. She keeps very good notes on what I have done w my hair over the years... cause well, I'm really into my hair. I could ask... and she knows what month I last permed... My colorist Cindy, is awesome too, we have done hilights of various shades, and base colors over the years. She also keeps great notes... as well, I'm really into my hair. And Cindy has good travel stories to share. and if she looks you are coming in, she is sometimes lend you a book she thinks you would enjoy. I do agree about the makeup- it just doesnt work for me. It's my first time coming in to this salon and the concierge was very welcoming I got checked in right away, one of them gave me a tour around, place was very nice and cozy I would say. But this where my issue begin, I wasn't able to get a service since my hair is really long and really black and I wanted it to get dyed. The stylist I booked on said that I need to add another $200 which is I agreed on. I was gonna say it doesn't matter how much she wants to charge me I just wanna get it done and she did a hair testing with an attitude didn't even ask how am I doing and she's never approachable nor friendly at all, and was making faces the whole time. By the way her name is Sienna! She said with the manager it would take 8 hours to do my hair and not enough time. I was a first time customer at a Charles Ifergan Salon. I found out about the salon thanks to Google. I didn't choose a particular colorist, because I thought I'd leave it to God. I made an appointment a day in advance. When I arrived, Victoria told me she was my colorist for the appointment. And yes, she did an amazing job! A lady (I don't know her name but she was so nice and professional) brought me to Michel the salon manager, and he welcomed me. He welcomes first time customers at the salon. I thought that was nice and professional. I was satisfied with their service. Everyone was hospitable and this is important to me and I'm sure to most people too. Victoria coloured my hair and then Toni did my hair cut and a blowout. They made me look prettier! I like that Victoria chose a colour I never wore before. It was such a pleasant surprise, I love my hair! At the end of the session, I was quite shocked from how pretty it looked! I was also so thirsty but they gave me a cup of iced water. And the team complimented my hair. :) My husband likes my new hair too! I also liked the tasty cup of iced tea at the salon! Victoria was excellent, her talent showed and she made me feel welcome. The salon had television screens that showed fashion shows. That was nice to see as I have a strong interest in fashion. I also like the white interior of the salon. I'll start off saying that this was a while ago. I thought that I should give it time to cool off and see if my feelings change. Nope, still don't like the place. I feel the need to give others a heads up. I'll say it right now: If you are the person who has trouble telling a salesperson "no", or asking for exactly what's on your mind, then this is not the salon for you. They are pretty pushy. My mom is one of those people and she recommended this place to me. I went armed with reviews about the sales tactics. I arrived early, not too early, and waited well into my scheduled appointment. Fine. I had a "tour" of the salon, then waited some more. I had a free makeup consultation with a very opinionated woman. She was the type who sells you things by making you feel bad about yourself. She dissed my original makeup choices and then said that I should really get an eyebrow wax with her in order to clean them up. She wouldn't leave it alone, I must have said "no" three times in a row. I actually liked the lipstick she tried on me, so I asked to buy it. She didn't have any of it left in stock. Okaaay... I was afraid she might try to push more products on me in her growing irritation, so I just said I'd buy it "next time." That pacified her, but I already knew that there probably wouldn't be a next time. I really recommend not getting the consultation (I think it's free for all newcomers) because the brushes seriously looked unclean. It looked as if the makeup just sat out, uncovered, and not sanitized. I did not see any evidence of the consultant cleaning brushes before or after my session. She used water on the eyeliner cake-- not sure where it came from now that I think about it. But some of you know that makeup+water+a billion eyes=nasty germs. At some point in time I had to change and put some sort of robe on-- weird, I wasn't getting my hair dyed or anything. I would have preferred not to do that. Finally, my haircut. I was able to have amicable conversation with my stylist. I brought pictures and she promptly ignored them. I walked out feeling made-under. It wasn't an awful cut, just nothing like what I asked for, and much shorter (perhaps she thought she could sell me some extensions as well.) Oh- and awesome, when my hair curled again, it was extra short and shaggy. Bleh. She also for some reason suggested that I should "totally come back and buy" all the makeup the other person put on me. Yeah, okay, because I don't own any eyeliner and I really need bruise-colored blush. My mother actually had me pick up brushes for her, so I think that curbed some of the stylist's selling urge. Now, I was completely steeled, I rejected unnecessary things left and right, but still she got one thing past. "But you really do need it" were the words she used. Whatever, I was tired and wanted to leave. By the way, I never used that stuff, it weighed my hair down so badly. That was nice to finally get off my chest. Whew. One star because it is a well-decorated, clean place and she did make less-than-awkward conversation. The salon was pristine, very clean, polished, and well-maintained. I was impressed by the sophistication of the place. That's probably the only compliment I will give them. Most of the staff exuded a snooty attitude, even towards their own colleagues! Several staff members meandered in the background flipping through magazines, laughing obnoxiously, and texting on their cell phones (which I thought was very unprofessional to do in front of customers.) The staff was not very good about communicating to each other, so a lot of costumers were left unattended for quite awhile. I got a decent groupon deal for $79 full highlights. Overall, nicely done. But in the end, they made me blow dry my own hair awkwardly in one corner of the salon. They also aren't very big fans of small talk. Just a heads up. I had my hair cut by Neysa. She did an amazing job. She had awesome suggestions and I felt like we connected. She made a recommendation for a colorist so when I was ready, i booked an appointment with Nicolette. I was very excited about my color appointment. My hair is a medium/light brown and I was going back to a blonder look for the warmer weather. After reading the reviews on Yelp stating that a blowout is not included with the color, I called to add a blow out after my color. How can I know how amazing the color looks without having it dried and styled? When I called they informed me that a blowout is starting at $50 to add to my color service. Come again??? I've been to other salons that will add the blowout for a reduced amount. $50 is completely ridiculous especially after dropping $150+ on a full head of highlights. So needless to say, i cancelled my appointment. When I tried to explain to the receptionist why I was cancelling, she spoke over me and was dismissive almost argumentative There are so many great salons in the area. I will not be returning to Charles Ifergan. Really too bad because Neysa is awesome. read more

Pros: Clean Staff is friendly I got a great haircut They honored an expired gift certificate for me which they didn't need to do. Cons: The place is kind of hard to find. This was my first time and they share a building with a couple different businesses. The woman that washed my hair was interesting. She splashed water all Over me and the woman next to me and seemed very distracted. Like she had washed 100 people's hair that day and was just tired of it or something. I always look forward to a head massage when I get my hair washed but she kept pulling at my hair and seemed rushed. I also did a lot of sitting around which is odd to me. oh snap........ my search for the best haircut in the whole world is finally over. i just went here because they had a free haircut for first time clients with new stylists. I'm not going to tell you who i saw for my cut because you yelpers will surely steal her from me. not only was my cut fabulous, but the customer service totally blew me away!!! this salon has been around for years but i have never given it a second glance, and boy am i upset with myself. i mean i could have had fantastic hair for all these years, but instead i had settled for places that are trendy but you walk out looking like a toy poodle. love it love it love it......... i want to marry my new stylist. I have been going here for years starting with the downtown location and it was a favorite place for a haircut leaving fresh and revitalized but I have to say Michele has lost his touch. My layers are uneven and my hair is chopped like a butcher. I went back for a correction and his first comment was I knew it would be you. Not a nice way to great someone after a $83.00 haircut and $20.00 tip for a 30 minute hair cut. All I wanted was Michele to fix what he started and I was the one telling him where my hair was weighted and where the trimming. I can't emphasize how important a good haircut is to a persons regardless of the price. It is life changing for ones esteem and makes one feel good every morning waking up. I was in desperate need of a haircut and decided to try this salon with a groupon deal. It was my first time visiting the salon and I was paired up with Neysa. I was nervous at first because I didn't want a drastic cut and was afraid my stylist would see my hair and go all "Edward Scissorhands" on me. Neysa was great, she listened to what I wanted and gave me a great cut. She has a welcoming personality and made me feel comfortable. I received an awesome deep conditioning treatment and it made my hair super shiny. Overall I was very pleased with my cut and the service. The only thing I would change about the salon is to maybe add some color to the walls, all the white in the salon can make it feel rather cold even though the staff was friendly and warm. read more

I've been going to the Oak Brook Salon for about 15 years... before finding Charles Iferghan my mom, daughter and I could not find any place we liked and where you would come out with the hair style and color you requested when going in. The team at Charles Iferghan is always right on Mark... Arlene is our main colorist and she's fantastic...when she's unavailable then we go to Victoria , who is equally talented ... both of them really listen and understand what you want. The hair stylists at CI go through a rigorous training program required by the salon , above and beyond what takes place at other salons.. so EVERYONE is qualified! However, we go to Michel and to Max . They are FABULOUS!! Cuts are even ( prior to this we've had many uneven hair cuts!)and current styles!Both are very very important!! Seriously they are PROFESSIONALS, like I've never experienced before!!! Also, the entire staff is friendly, courteous and , very importantly... they know who you are and what you like!! I could not say enough about Anna and Krista at Charles Ifergen Salon. I was referred to Anna by a friend and I have never been more thankful. Anna has taken my dry brittle hair and turned it healthy, soft and bouncy hair in a just a few months. She does an amazing job cutting and styling my hair. What I love most, is how Anna always shows me simple styling tricks and products to use and how to use them effectively. As for my Colorist Krista, she is also amazing! I used to have a problem getting highlights. They would always come out orange and brassy. Never once has Krista done my hair color and it come out orange or brassy. My hair looks fantastic every time I leave the salon. I've been going to Anna and Krista for a couple of years now, and they have always done a great job. I can't believe no one has reviewed Victoria! As a cosmetologist myself, I am very very very picky when it comes to someone doing my hair. I have interviewed at the downtown location before and Charles Ifergan is a very professional and talented salon. I had a 50% off a service card so I decided to go get my hair done on my birthday at the Oakbrook location. I called the day before and they managed to get me an appointment with a girl named Victoria. When I got there, the receptionist right away was friendly and then gave me a tour around the salon and introduced me to Victoria. Initially I was going to get balayage highlights but since I wanted my hair a lot lighter she found a picture of what she thinks I should do and I went along with it. Well......I'm finally blonde and my hair is not destroyed! She was so much fun to talk to and gave me a lot of great advice for me since I'm just starting out my career. I haven't liked the color of my hair in about 3 years until now. This was the best birthday present I could of ever given myself. ;) I get so many compliments on it and I definitely will return to her! read more
