I have been getting a no chip manicure every 3 weeks for years by Kari Ann. She takes a lot of time to manicure my nails and doesn't use any type of mechanical filer to take off old polish. She wraps them in tin foil with remover on the nail. I have very thin nails and she is very helpful in keeping them healthy. The no-chip usually lasts 2-1/2 to 3 weeks. I have been coming to One Salon and Spa for several years now. Nicole Kass is amazing. It took me forever to find someone that knew how to deal with my scraggly hair. The salon has always been beautiful, the people incredibly professional and the products are too notch. Recent, because of the Covid outbreak, I was incredibly wary of going into a salon, despite the reality of my grey hair and the fact that my ends were going through a very bitter split. The salon communicated to their clients as well as posted on social media all of the steps they are taking to keep EVERYONE safe. It took me a week or so to get over it but I eventually took the leap to go in. To say I was astounded is an understatement. I have never felt this safe in public since the virus started. They changed so much and honestly have gone above and beyond. I waited in my car outside to be called into the salon. My temperature was taken and I was immediate shown where to wash my hands. I was taken to a station that had visibly been sanitized ( did I mention that Nicole has gotten certification for sanitation?). The stations were empty around me and they had strict rules that once I was done with Nicole and she moved on to another client she had no contact with me. The amazing ladies working the shampoo stations wore masks AND shields and only two stations were allowed to be used at that time. The front desk is plexiglassed and I honestly can't think of a single thing they could have done to keep us any safer. I know these times are scary and sure, getting your hair done may not be your top priority right now but if you are hesitating because of concern, I would be shocked if you would find another salon, restaurant or store that is following the stringent protocols they are. Thank you to the owner and staff for your incredible work. A perfect score for a perfect experience and isn't that what you want when you go to the salon? While I had been here before- my hair stylist, Ashley moved here recently so now this has become my regular "go to" salon. If you are looking for an amazing hair stylist- look no further than Ashley. She has done my hair for years and I am always getting compliments on the cut, color and style. In fact- I get my hair washed and styled all over the world, and no matter where I go- the other stylists complement me on my cut and color. Now that is high praise! They also do massages and Veronica and David are very good. Both have helped me when my back spasms and I am in pain- but a few minutes with their magic hands and I am back in business! Ron, the owner, is pleasant and personable and keeps this place impeccable. This has to be the cleanest salon I have ever been in. The floors and walls are spotless (which is always tricky when there is color, hairspray and polish waiting to make it's mark) and the natural light that pours into the space from the many windows, just makes this a nice place to spend some time getting "pretty". They use high end products and the stylists are well trained in making suggestions for what types of products will work with my hair type. Convenient location adjacent to the Oak Brook Mall (it's on the main floor of an office building located on the east side of the mall), plenty of free parking and convenient hours round of the picture of this place. This review is really late, as my experience was almost three months ago. My ex boyfriend and I went here for couples massages.. we were happy to be accommodated last minute. We requested our appointment for just a few days later in the same week. Long story short, my massage was I think THE worst I've had in my life. There was basically no pressure whatsoever the entire 90 minutes. I never really relaxed. It sucked. I won't ever be back for another massage.. The amount of money my mother spent there in the past years was in the multiple thousands of dollars.In the past few years my mother got Dementia. The way that this salon started treating my sick mother was DEPLORABLE. Our caretakers and friends who go to the salon overheard them making fun of and complaining about her and she became an annoyance to them. The mistreatment continued for years until they made a nasty accusation about her that we confirmed to be a HUGE LIE. Clearly there is NO loyalty to long time good paying customers at this nasty salon. Suffice to say, my mother now goes to a LOVELY salon in Elmhurst where they say she is a PLEASURE to have and they treat her with dignity and respect. The salon was clean and followed the safety precautions so well! I was more than pleased to be back at One Salon & Spa after COVID - 19. All the stations are constantly being cleaned after each client and each station is spread apart for social distancing. It was so calming to feel safe in such a public environment. I've been looking for a place that actually knows how to do nails for a while. I've been seeing Sylvia since I started coming here and she does a great job. She's very friendly too when we talk. I like that when i first started seeing her she could tell the product that was put on me from another place was not good. My nails had to soak the product off longer than usual. I like that she explained the products to me so i understood the difference with what other places use. Education is key and I'm all about that. read more

Hmmmm - I have mixed feelings about this place. I went to get a massage because I bought a Groupon a while back. I was not asked if I wanted a male or female massage therapist. I personally prefer females and when they called to confirm my appointment they said my massage was with "Dave." It wasn't really a big deal, but I feel that as a woman, who is going to be laying on a table naked, having someone rub their hands all over me, I should at least be asked if I am comfortable with a male doing it. I've had many massages and have always been asked. Additionally, my Groupon said it was good for either a swedish or deep tissue massage. About 15 minutes into my massage I realized it was a deep tissue and once again I was never asked. Again - not a huge deal, but it would've been nice to be asked because I went for the sole purpose of relaxation and feel that a swedish massage would have been more relaxing than a deep tissue. The massage therapist did a great job, although he talked to me quite a bit. It wasn't too much to the point where I was annoyed, but enough so that I probably wouldn't go back to him. Like I said - the main purpose of me going was to RELAX. Having a conversation during a massage is not relaxing. About half of the massage was spent conversing. Not a fan. They do seem to have great services there - specializing in hair. The salon part of it is huge and looked very up to date. They also do pedicures, facials, manicures, etc. I was given a tour and it seemed like a nice place. Given that I used a Groupon, it was a great deal, but would I pay $115.00 and go back again for another massage, most likely not. read more

I love this salon. The owner himself took a close look at my hair when I went in to shop for hair products. I didn't purchase a treatment or anything, just wanted to get some poo n dish. I also looked around at the face care selection and was amazed at how knowledgeable the desk ladies are. They not only took time to answer all of my questions, they loaded about twenty different samples in my bag. I walked in to buy shampoo and came out with shampoo, a buttload of samples, and a smile on my face. I will go back every time I need Kerastase products. However, we were waiting for less than five minutes, and although I was nervous to leave the warmth of the reception area, I was optimistic of a new chapter of haircare. There she was, the hairdresser - Nicole, who would be changing my perspective on haircare forever. All I saw was a bright smile and a soothing voice which eased all the nerves I didn't know I had. Before I sat down in the chair, Nicole made sure to accommodate to all of my needs. I am a hijabi, which means that I wear a scarf around my head to cover my hair from outside-world males, and getting a haircut interferes with that purpose. Nicole was so thoughtful and considerate of my religion, putting up a barrier to shield my hair from any eyes other than hers. After a session of washing, snipping, and drying I looked in the mirror cautiously optimistic. My jaw literally dropped. My hair was stunning, I looked like a movie star! I have been going to Nicole for almost five years now and I have never been disappointed once. One time, I actually cut my own hair - butchered it really - but Nicole managed to fix it and do even more - I looked so chic after. Lauren is fantastic!! I was in town for work, had some time to kill so I decided to go for a bang trim. I'm REALLY picky about who I let touch my hair, esp bangs, so I gave her the once-over when she greeted me. I loved her style and especially her own bangs, so I knew I'd be in good hands. Lauren gave me a thorough consultation, asking detailed questions about how normally get my hair cut and how I prefer it. I had a good feeling about her style/talent, so decided to go for a full haircut. I am so glad I did! After a relaxing shampoo and an expert haircut, I got to enjoy a thorough blowout. There are so many salons in the Chicago area that I would have never found this place, as they are located on outside of Oak Brook mall facing a not so busy street. Luckily for me I purchased a groupon and found this great place. I had a facial and haircut done and absolutely loved the experience. The facial was with Erica (I think) and the haircut with Lauren. The both times I've been here, the staff was very warm and friendly. I liked that when I had both services done, they provided the names of the items used and never pushed to sell the product. Latorra is not only the best hair colorist I've had in many years, she is so nice and professional. I had a very trying hair journey this past year while attempting to go gray. It was frustrating and my hair was so damaged that I decided to go back to my natural dark brown. The entire experience left me without a colorist. I called One Salon on a friend's recommendation and asked for a capable colorist. I'm so grateful they gave me Latorra. My hair is exactly the color that I wanted. I like some of the other reviewers have always gone to Nicole K and I cant imagine changing hair stylists. I even live in the city and make the effort to come out to the burbs to see her. I've done partial highlights (including blond and rose gold) and cuts (shorter and longer) with her for the last 5 years and it's always awesome. She is very detailed oriented and I appreciate the time she takes to get it right. My favorite part about Nicole is that she understands my ideas.
