First of all, he was cash only. Sketchy? You decide. It was tough to get them out, but once they did, they were there early in the morning. So far so good. They laced the tree nicely. But their clean up was bad and they damaged a brand new outdoor spa cover because they didn't bring protection, despite the owner surveying the yard. Nice guy. Not so great service. read more

Based on reviews on NextDoor, I got a quote from Charles himself to trim and shape a Crape Myrtle - quite overgrown with Scarlet Trumpet vine - and a dead Peruvian Potato tree I wanted to trim for a perching spot for the many birds who need a safe spot to perch while waiting for their turn in the waterfall. There was also a large Jasmine vine which needed cutting back. All this I discussed with Charles and Forrest before they started work. I should mention that I'm in my 80s and have an equilibrium issue so standing/falling is an ongoing problem which was why I needed to hire someone. The trees were done perfectly so if someone were to be just looking for that service, I definitely recommend Charles Tree Service. HOWEVER ... My backyard had an underlayment of white gravel with a covering of medium-size dark brown bark which I had had installed about 3 years previously because it was cooler than the gravel and it kept the yard almost weed free. Since I was confident that everyone was clear on what needed to be done, I got out of their way and left them alone while I went inside. When they told me they were finished, I went out to see that most of the bark was gone (so I was back to a lot of white gravel) because they used blowers on it - instead of picking up the branches or raking - and carted off the bark to be disposed of. I had Charles look at my before and after photos to see what had been done, thinking - foolish me - that he would do the right thing and replace the bark but all he offered to do was have some guy named Andy give me a call (which he never did) and I could pay him to spread the bark I was supposed to purchase. Because the bark is gone - especially in the raised bed around the waterfall - I now have thick weeds 24"-30" tall so it's worse than when they started. I am extremely disappointed - I don't go out in the backyard anymore except to water... read more

Very responsive with an estimate and availability. Showed up on time and completed job same day. We had a safety issue with a tree in the back that had a large branch fall and crushed my son's soccer net. Appreciated the quick work so he could get back to playing outside. We decided to get all our other trees cleaned up as well and things look much better and no more falling branches to worry about. I never thought I could be so excited about getting a palm tree trimmed, but hey, this tree hadn't been trimmed for roughly 20 years and Charles' team did a great job. They gave this tree a total makeover! Charles was quick to come out and give a quote and his team was out at our house within a few days of the quote. The amount he quoted us was comparable to other companies, and there were no added charges when it came time to pay. They did a good job, and the whole trimming (which was a lot -- 20 years worth!), hauling from the back yard to front, and wood chipping took about 5 hours total. This is pretty quick given one of his team members climbed the 40+ foot palm tree and manually cut all the fronds down.
