Incredibly talented, empathetic, knowledgeable doctor. It is hard to put into words how I feel about Dr. Tseng because there are no words powerful enough to express my gratitude for what he's done for me in the last couple of months since my Breast Cancer diagnosis. My husband and I met him 2 weeks before my double mastectomy I automatically knew he was the perfect doctor for my reconstruction, he answered all of our questions and concerns in detail and was very thorough with the entire process and expectations. Dr. Tseng is an excellent breast reconstruction surgeon. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I was referred to the UCLA Women's Breast Center where patients are provided with a comprehensive visit with an oncologist, radiologist, oncology surgeon, plastic surgeon and social worker. Dr. Tseng went through all the options given my diagnosis and answered all my questions. When I chose to have a mastectomy and reconstruction, he met with me more than once (at my request because I had a lot of questions) and referred me to other specialists to help me feel comfortable that all of my health conditions would be managed during this big surgery (he set me up with anesthesia to manage my type 1 diabetes and help develop a plan for my oxycodone allergy). He was also flexible and adjusted to the recommendation for my diabetes management during surgery -which I really appreciated. It was a tough surgery, but he and his team were attentive and responsive. He is supported by an awesome assistant, Analy, who answered a lot of my questions, helped me with disability insurance and came in to see me at all of my visits with him to make sure i was good to go. While in the hospital, he came to see me, as did his team of residents each day. My surgery is supposed to be a multi-stage, but I look so good after just the 1 surgery, I don't know that I need anything else! I look fantastic! I'm about a cup smaller, had no complications and feel really good a month out of surgery. Other things I will comment on is that he's friendly and easy to speak with. Dr. Tseng was recommended by my GP. When I called his office and asked if he has any photos showing his work, I was told that he doesn't. I was nervous moving forward with the procedure, with little to no information about him. He was upfront with me from the get-go, telling me that he is not sure what the condition of my tissues would be and that he would only know, once he cuts me open. I really didn't know what to expect, but decided to trust my GP's recommendation. Needless to say, I was thrilled with the outcome. Dr. Tseng is a true artist of the woman's body. 2-year update - the scarring emerged at about 9 months after the procedure but he treated it and it flattened out.

I really hate having to do this, because I thought I'd found my plastic surgeon in Dr. Tseng, but I unfortunately had to find a new surgeon because the level of care I received when one of my tissue expanders began leaking, was less than stellar. I had to have one of my expanders significantly deflated for radiation, and because of which (I later found out from my new surgeon that expanders often rupture when they have been deflated then re-inflated), a tear in that expander occurred upon re-inflation, meaning that the saline would not stay in the expander for more than two weeks at a time. I called Dr. Tseng's attention to this, and the only solution he had was to keep inflating the ruptured expander. He wasn't concerned about my skin and muscle not stretching like it was supposed to, he actually wasn't concerned in the slightest. I flat out asked him how the situation could be rectified, and he simply said "there's nothing that can be done." I later found out that wasn't the case, he just didn't want to do another procedure or at least put together a plan for regular fills to fix it. The final straw was when I called and left a very detailed message with his patient coordinator, Danica, one evening when the problem expander was causing a TON of pain, making it hard to drive home from work. It was well after 6p, so I figured I'd just hear back the next day with Dr. Tseng's recommendation for pain relief. NOTHING.She never returned my call. I sent her an email as well. STILL NOTHING. I was a CASH paying patient last year, as I had no insurance. So this treatment, which may have been BECAUSE I didn't have any insurance, was especially insulting. UPDATE: My new plastic surgeon took video footage of the expander after she removed it to see what happened, and lo and behold, Dr. Tseng actually popped my expander during the re-inflation process. There was a needle sized hole in the expander, near the port. So, he actually created the problem, then gave me the Kanye Shrug afterwards. read more

After a double mastectomy and several deformed implants, I wanted to have them removed and replaced with a DIEP surgery. I interviewed more doctors than I can count. Dr Tseng peformed a tummy tuck and a boob job on me about 2 months ago. The BOOBs: are wonderful and glorious. He cut the scars out from my previous jacked up boob job, increased the cc'es from 240 to 415 and made them look all perfect like beautiful tear drops. Can't even see a scar now. VERY HAPPY WITH THE BOOB JOB!!! :-). And the recovery was so EASY. My boob's barely even hurt. The TUMMY TUCK: I basically pad 20K for them to put a scar all the way across my stomach. Not happy. The drain tube leaked and came un-sewed on day one. I immediatly messaged them to see what I should do. When the thing was leaking it got the thread wet and broke the thread and thus since the top thread broke the bottom one was the only one holding the tube into me and was pulling my stomach skin into the threading. Worst pain ever. Very painful! Nobody bothered messaging me back so I could barely move for two days in pain. When I finally realized that nobody was going to care, I had to cut the thing lose and pull it out myself. That's how the world works folks. Thank you and have a nice day. We live in a world full of hate and sin and evil. Liars with no morals or values. I've seen it all my life. BUT.....I will give him props for a good boob job. I would not recommend for a tummy tuck under any circumstances. Very unhappy with my even worse belly. BLOWS!~ read more

I got my breast reduction surgery because I suffered from upper back pain due to Size DDD breasts on my 4'11 body. After surgery, I ended up with DD on one side and D on the other. I don't want to go back to DR. Tseng since I don't trust his ability to fix the problem. Now I am suffering from severely uneven look on my chest. read more

Dr. Tseng performed my breast reduction surgery on March 26, 2019 and he did an exceptional job! He's equal parts surgeon and artist. I've had no complications and I've been healing up very nicely. My scarring has been minimal thus far and I've had zero pain. That said, I have been sore, very sore, but considering all that was done, that's completely normal. I look balanced and proportionate and truly couldn't be happier with the results! Update: July 23, 2019 - I'm nearly 4 months post-op and am 100% back to all my normal routines, actually have been for a couple months now. I feel great and everything still looks good. My scarring will be moderate, at worst, but that's not of concern to me. I have some minor numbness in a small portion of both breasts, but Dr. Tseng told me that that could take a very long time to go away, if at all. Dr. Tseng is AMAZING!!! I recently was diagnosed with breast cancer again and chose to have a mastectomy with reconstruction. My breast surgeon recommended Dr. Tseng to perform the DIEP flap and reconstruction. Dr. Tseng took his time and answered ALL of my questions in person and when I reached out to him via messages in the patient portal. And to ensure I fully understood the procedure and could share the information with my family, he sent me a video of him explaining his work step by step and in great detail. Because of his patience, knowledge, and confidence in his work, I decided to proceed with him. His bedside manners are impeccable! During recovery, he came in to see me. I asked him if he would be stopping by again or if this were the last time I would see him while in the hospital. He said this was it. Incredibly talented, empathetic, knowledgeable doctor. It is hard to put into words how I feel about Dr. Tseng because there are no words powerful enough to express my gratitude. (Warning - long review ahead. For me, long medical reviews were the most helpful so here you go.) I was diagnosed with breast cancer Dec. 2019 and had a double mastectomy in Feb. 2020 (by Dr. Maggie DiNome). Dr. Tseng managed my reconstruction. During our first meeting, he reviewed in detail using a PowerPoint presentation, my options. This helped me visualize the process, understand what to expect and put me at ease after I saw the true artist Dr. Tseng is. Honestly, I expected to have botched breasts the rest of my life after having a double mastectomy. I had seen way too many terrible reconstruction pictures pre-surgery. With Dr. Tseng's talent, I have beautiful new breasts. I didn't need any fat grafting, which another doctor told me I would. Because of his expert guidance after he took time to learn about my lifestyle, I have over-the-muscle silicone implants and they look great! I still have to get used to them emotionally but physically they look better than I imagined. During my recovery after my double mastectomy, I experienced a hematoma, which of course was not expected, especially since it happened two weeks post-surgery (very rare). It occurred round 5pm so I needed to contact Dr. Tseng's after-hours line. Dr. Tseng's resident consulted with him and together they recommended I go to the hospital. On my way to the hospital, Dr. Tseng personally called to check in on me. That level of care goes a long way and eased a lot of my anxiety. He took time to explain what was happening and that I was going to need surgery. Once at the hospital, it was very disorganized and the hospital admissions didn't understand what needed to happen with me. What I needed was to be admitted so I could have surgery with Dr. Tseng the next day. As my husband worked with Dr. Tseng's resident, I called Dr. Tseng. I wish I had his resident's name to give her a well-deserved shout out. We had been texting her earlier in the evening to share pictures and updates so we had a contact number for her. Despite her being done with her shift, she continued to offer assistance even at 10pm after a long shift! I explained to Dr. Tseng how unhelpful and confused the hospital admissions team was and he was not pleased with their lack of empathy and care. He worked his magic and soon after my call with him I was admitted. Dr. Tseng checked on me the next morning. He had a surgery already scheduled that day so since my status wasn't threatening, my surgery followed. During surgery, he was able to quickly find the source of the bleeding and fix the hematoma. This was a scary experience but Dr. Tseng made it easier, helped me understand my situation, and calmed my nerves. Press fast forward. I saw Dr. Tseng the same day I found out I was going to need chemo for a follow-up visit. This was a big shock for me because of my initial stage 0 status. I was very emotional and he took time to actively listen to me. We chatted about chemo and he offered me words of encouragement that I held onto during my treatment. I have completed 3 surgeries with Dr. Tseng: 1) reconstruction 2) hematoma 3) implant exchange. I am still considering my 4th (nipple reconstruction), but honestly, I'm feeling surgery fatigue and have postponed. The only reason I'm even considering this surgery is because of Dr. Tseng and his talent and level of care. Prior to my first surgery, I had visited the dermatologist and learned I needed 3 moles removed. I spoke to Dr. Tseng about it and he offered to do it for me while I was already under anesthesia. That was so helpful! I will have my port in for a year and will be ready to remove it in April 2021. I will work with Dr. Tseng for that too because the doctor who installed the port did a terrible job closing. While talking about Dr. Tseng, it would be remiss of me to not mention his coordinator, Danica. She is kind, very responsive, organized, knowledgeable and patient. She makes everything easier on the patient. I appreciate how she would take time to talk with me and put me at ease by answering all of my questions, handling my LOA from work and staying on top of all my appointments. She is a true gem! Dr. Tseng turned a tragic and very emotional journey into something that was manageable with amazing outcomes. He truly cares for his patients. He chose reconstruction as his emphasis because he wants to help women, who have already endured so much, feel confident and make a positive difference in their lives. Dr. Tseng is awesome! He really helped turn a horrible situation - breast cancer - into something pretty positive! There are so many great things about this surgeon (and the whole breast team at UCLA), so hopefully I won't forget anything here: In no particular order: 1). He is super calm and just has a great demeanor with patients. He gives you options and carefully explains the pros and cons of breast reconstruction (I had a double mastectomy, and you can reconstruct with implants or through flap surgery, which I opted for), with the aid of a PowerPoint presentation/visual aids. He visited me after surgery at the hospital, and called me when I was home, giving me his personal number in case I had any concerns or questions. It was such an awesome surprise that he has such concern for his patients! 2). His work is great! The day after surgery, when i saw my new boobs for the first time, I had no clue what to expect. I thought they'd be swollen blobs stuck to my chest. To my surprise, I looked down and saw I had actual boobs! That were half the size of my old ones (which is what I wanted) and much perkier too! Everyone who has seen them - from family, to all my other doctors and the nursing staff at the UCLA Westwood flap ward, said they looked amazing, but that's kind of his deal and amazing results are what he is known for. And my stomach is so flat, and all my incisions have healed really nicely! Bonus!!!! 3.). Dr. Tseng is also very detail oriented. He is known for taking his time and being very thorough in surgery. Mine was pretty long (approx 13 hrs) BECAUSE he is very careful and as a result, the finished product is so good! What does it matter anyway, you're sleeping the whole time . 4.) As I mentioned before, he makes the process almost kind of exciting. I went from being convinced I was dying and that my days were numbered, to actually being psyched about basically customizing my new boobs and the bonus tummy tuck (in the kind of flap surgery he does, belly flat is transferred to the boob area and lots of blood vessels are reconnected so that the tissue is living). And even now that I'm 4 weeks past surgery, we are still having ongoing conversations about finishing touches and tweaks. Dr. Tseng told me he loves his job because he gets to put a positive spin on the situation and do the more exciting finishing touches that make women feel good about themselves after the horror of breast cancer, and I wholeheartedly believe it! 5.) He has an awesome office staff (including his coordinator, Danica, who is very quick to respond to questions and is also super nice). The office looks new and very clean, and I've never had to wait long or have had any billing issues (knock on wood). So yeah, love Dr. Tseng! Dr.Charles he's my angel. I found out that my cancer came back again breast cancer on my left breast. I was told by my doctor that I couldn't get chemo again or radiation on the same area where I got radiated before so I had to have a mastectomy done. That's when my doctor Recommended me Dr. Charles. Dr. Charles gave me a new beautiful breast!!! He gave me two options, the first one was if I wanted to get silicone or do a flap , he gave me so much information about both procedures. I've never liked fake boobs because thr to obvious so I chose the flap. A flap is more natural looking and beautiful. That procedure was eight hours long. Why it took that long?? Well you see they had to remove my real breast then they had to do a tummy tuck which they remove fat from my lower stomach to make my new breast. I HOPE I MAKE SENSE... What I'm trying to say to everyone is that if you're in the same situation that I was with my cancer and you have to have a mastectomy then I say to do a flap because it's more natural looking healthier and beautiful and Dr. Charles is the best doctor to go to! I sought out the expertise of Dr. Charles Tseng after suffering a painful and disastrous botched reconstruction surgery that made a mess of my breast by my previous surgeon. As if a breast cancer diagnosis wasn't devastating enough, I now needed the skills of a microsurgeon to fix this disaster. Dr. Tseng is nothing short of an amazing surgeon. He removed the expanders and the infected breast tissue and performed a DIEP flap surgery, including a skin graft without any complications. He turned a horrible, stressful and painful situation into something far better than I expected. My new breasts are warm, soft and natural feeling. They truly are a living part of me. My tummy area is smaller and flatter, a very pleasant surprise! Cancer is a long, tough journey and I have a few minor surgeries to go. Finding the right doctor can affect your quality of life. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and to be honest all of it seemed nothing less than scary. When I met my team of doctors, I became relieved. One of those doctors is Dr. Charles Tseng, he truly is nothing less than AMAZING! Dr. Tseng impressed me on our first introduction with his thoroughness and attention to detail. When he was done I truly understood all my choices and options available to me. I was able to make an educated and confident decision. I received a full mastectomy on one of my breasts with full reconstruction with a DIEP flap. Dr. Tseng made my breast look so great that even the nurses during my hospital stay kept complementing, and asking who did your surgery? I thought it was really cute. One nurse asked and I replied Dr. Tseng, she said "Yes, that makes sense, everything he does is to perfection." I smiled. I am truly pleased, and HAPPY with the work Dr. Tseng has already done. For context I'm a single female in my 30s with a rare gene mutation that put me at extreme risk for breast cancer. In 2019 I was diagnosed with uterine cancer and had a hysterectomy. This made the decision to have a preventative mastectomy with DIEP flap reconstruction and add to scars on my body all the more difficult. Talking to surgeons is never the easiest. It's hard to judge and gauge what you think of them based on one conversation. Dr. Tseng is very professional but what I found after choosing him is that he was highly personable, very kind, easy to communicate with, and never made me feel rushed. He always answered my emails with random questions in a timely manner and even stopped to show me pictures of his baby the morning of surgery. More importantly his work speaks volumes for itself. There really is a power in plastic surgery that reduces the trauma of a mastectomy. 3 people who have seen the post surgical me have marveled at how good everything looks. Yes the tummy scar is long but it's crazy thin!! A nurse friend said "That is really going to look incredible as it fades with time." I had heard people say he was an artist and I see now how true that is. My recovery has gone better than expected all around with zero complications. I really was afraid this experience would make me feel broken, particularly at my age and after the few years I've had. Thanks to Dr. Tseng that just hasn't been the case. read more
