I was part of a wedding party that rented suits from this store. My husband was one of the groomsmen, so I went into the store to pick up his suit and to drop it off afterwards. The suits themselves were beautifully made, for rentals. The two women I worked with while in the store were knowledgeable and friendly. My husband said that he had a great experience when he went in to check it out at first and when he went back for measurements. The store is incredibly clean and organized. It is a tad small, but perfect for what they offer. They even have a beautiful sitting area in the center- with snacks! I take away a star for the return situation. We had a total of five suits rented. On the following Monday after the wedding, I called around noon to ask if I could bring it back Tuesday as I was stuck in meetings all day. The lady who answered was not happy as the suits needed to be back by 11am and none were returned. (I had one, the best man had the other four to return) There was nothing on the paperwork that stated 11am return and I do not remember ever hearing of the return time. Thankfully there was no charge and they weren't too terribly upset that we were late in returning them. I just felt confused! read more

I went to Charleston Tuxedo today to look at bow ties for an upcoming event. I ended up with a bow tie, a pocket square and a rental tux for the event. The staff were excellent-- knowledgable of the product and friendly. I learned today that they offer both rental and custom tuxes for purchase. Their prices were reasonable for both the rentals and custom purchases. It seemed to me that they had better options for rental customers than do the chain shops. They were able to accommodate what I thought to be a pretty tight time frame for my rental. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. read more

Just an update. They measured the groom incorrectly and we had to rush order a new suit 2 days before the wedding. They paid for the shipping, but if you come to this store MAKE CERTAIN that you give yourself AT LEAST 3-5 days before the wedding in case of mishaps. A great tuxedo with even better customer service. The owner was flexible with a holiday schedule and went out of her way in terms of availability and communication. In addition, she helped me carry my tux to a nearby hotel given that I had come directly to the shop from the airport with baggage (plus I got a brief tour of Charleston). I had a bad experience, but it was probably a fluke so I am not going to give 2 stars. For some reason all but 1 or 2 of my fellow 6 or 7 groomsmen had ill-fitting tuxes. We each picked them up individually, so it was only after we all met up later that day before the wedding that we realized only 1 or 2 of us actually had a tux that fit. At least the shoes fit! My coat was huge, sleeves +2 inches and had to be pinned under at my wrists. Waist was huge even after tightening as much as possible. Pants length ok. Per instructions, we had all had measurements done by experienced tailors in our respective hometowns before traveling to Charleston, so I feel pretty confident it was some issue with Charleston Tuxedo. The woman working in the store on Saturday (very fun to talk to by they way... she was hilarious with some good stories) was puzzled and even re-took a couple of my measurements -- some she said were slightly different than the measurements I sent, but not that much, and some she agreed were correct and did not know why the tux was off so bad. So again, I'm assuming it's a fluke since I can imagine a lot of wedding parties out there would go completely nuclear on Yelp if this happened to them, yet I see many other positive reviews. Plus, I know my friend did research before choosing this place. Anyway, leave yourself time to get alterations if possible. Since we all traveled to Charleston for the wedding, it was impossible for us to try on the tux with enough time for alterations. And remember, if you dance hard enough (or not at all, really) at a wedding nobody will be harmed by the fact that your tux measurements were off 2 inches in every dimension. read more

Worst experience I've ever had at any retail store ever. Not only did they provide an unacceptable product, the manager "allowed" me to cancel my order, but then Anna knowingly charged my card $600 the next day without authorization. She had saved my credit card information from bow ties I had ordered. I also discovered their bow ties were ordered from tiebar.com and re-sold to me at double the price... Anna clearly had cut the retailers blue tag out (sloppily). Anna refused to put me in touch with the manager to resolve, and manager was totally unreachable. I filed a complaint with the BBB. Anna is rude, smug, a liar and a thief. Take your business ANYWHERE else. read more

Anna saved our wedding! We decided to have a destination wedding in Charleston (we live in Texas). Months ahead of the wedding, I was measured in Texas for my tux and faxed my measurements to Anna. Anna called me back immediately and seemed inquisitive about a couple of the measurements, as if they didn't quite add up. I was comfortable with the gentleman that measured me, he was the owner of the tux shop in town. Fast forward to the week prior to our wedding, Anna called me and asked me when I was arriving in Charleston. I explained that we were set to arrive on Wednesday, so that we could complete the marriage license paperwork (24 hour waiting period). She asked if we could stop in before 3:00pm to try on the tux, that way, if anything didn't fit, she could get it overnighted for delivery before 10:00am on Thursday (wedding was on Friday). Wednesday afternoon we stopped in to Charleston Tuxedo. Anna greeted us and set me up in a fitting room. As I began to get dressed, things just didn't seem to fit right. In the end, nothing fit! NOTHING FIT! My fiancé could see under the dressing room door and when I walked out, she was grimacing at how short the pants were. The jacket was too big. The neck and arm length on the shirt were wrong. I could use more colorful language, but simply put, I was a disaster! The most charming part about my disaster-ness, was how upset Anna was! She was so frustrated that a professional in her industry got literally everything wrong. Her frustration was clearly at the gentleman that measured me, but it was proof of how much she cared about her industry and her product and her customers! I was able to remain calm, because she was handling the ticked-off-ness for me! That said, she didn't skip a beat. She sprang into action (former NYC Marathon finisher!) and while I was in the dressing room changing, she was already on the phone calling her supplier and alerting them of her last minute change order! She then re-measured me and assured me that she would fix everything and for us to not worry. The following morning, she called me bright and early (while me and my fiancé were out for an early morning run) and let me know everything was in. Being busy with multiple things, I didn't immediately return her call. She called again, letting me know it was in for pick-up. Needless to say, it fit perfect, like a glove, like it was tailored for me! As if jumping through last minute hoops and ensuring that I knew it was ready, wasn't enough she got me looking sharp for one of the biggest days of my life! How did I thank her? I forgot the money for the overnight fee! How did she handle it? She let me walk out of her store owing her money! Yelper's, if you are reading this review, and need a tux (or any of the services that Anna offers), I strongly encourage you to patronize her store! As good as she is at her job, she is even better at being an amazing human being! She got one of the biggest hugs and one heck of well-fitting tux. This was undoubtedly one of the most negative customer service experiences of my entire life. If possible, I would give this business zero stars. Look elsewhere for your formal wear needs. We were knowingly left outside by Anna for 30-45 min while she ate her lunch. She was angry and indignant once she finally did decide to help us. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE PLEASE GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE!!!! My husband was a best man in a wedding scheduled for October 2016 in Charleston. Unfortunately, because of Hurricane Matthew the wedding did not occur as Charleston had to be evacuated. Well this place still charged us over $200 for a tuxedo we never even saw. There was a state of emergency in Charleston! How could you charge someone for a tuxedo they never ended up renting??!!!! It is a common practice at most tuxedo rentals (my husband has been a groomsmen many times plus rented a tuxedo for our own wedding) to only charge you a deposit and then charge the credit card once you pick up the tuxedo. How they could charge everyone the total cost of the tuxedo that no one ended up using because there was a mandatory evacuation of Charleston due to Hurricane Matthew is appalling! We are over $200 in the hole for a tuxedo never rented. Calling them to follow up on this has been a nightmare. They are less then friendly and helpful and have left it that they owe us nothing. Next step I guess is to call my credit card company and claim a fraudulent charge. These people are heartless. One would think for a company that generates most of their revenue from weddings they would show compassion to a couple and their wedding party who because of a natural disaster could not have their dream wedding as scheduled in Charleston. Instead they charged everyone full price for the tuxedos and when phone calls were made to follow up on the matter were very rude and short. I called on behalf of my husband and was told after a long exasperated sigh that they were communicating with the groom regarding this matter and not each groomsmen and their wife need call. Well when you charge the whole wedding party over $200 for a tuxedo they did not rent as the wedding was cancelled then yes I think it is justified for each person to call and inquire about why they were charged. Future wedding parties yelping tuxedo rentals please take your business elsewhere...to a tuxedo rental place that will genuinely care for you and your party and do what their best to make you look your best on your special day instead of adding insult to injury as they have done for our unfortunate groom and groomsmen. For my wedding I wanted to wear a tuxedo, and as a female some might find that odd, however Charleston Tuxedo went above and beyond to make me feel totally accepted. I went in to originally rent a tuxedo and wound up buying a custom tuxedo that was perfect for our special day. Anna and her staff are amazing. I was not an easy client. I had to schedule multiple appointments for selections and fittings as I am from out of town. Everything was wonderful! I can't thank Charleston Tuxedo enough for everything. For a business that is suppose help in making a day memorable, they put additional stress on the bridal party for my friends wedding. I walked into the store on the Tuesday before the wedding to pick up my tux. I was informed by Anna that the tuxes were not in and she will call the groom who would in turn call us. Those tuxes should have been in the Monday before in case of any problems. I had a problem with my tux jacket not fitting properly. When the groom called she said because I ordered a certain size I would have to pay 50 dollars for them to express another coat. We said no to that. The next day she called me and said she got another coat at her expense. When I picked it up she had a poor attitude and made some improper remarks about the groom, my friend of over 30 years. I would highly recommend not to spend money at this establishment. Anna is not a pleasant person to work with. She has a rude and smug personality.
